Setlist

With DC singing more, looks like they're taking more of a conservative approach with AP's voice.
That's nice to see.

WOW! That is a hell of a setlist. I can't believe Higher Place was in there. I'd go to see that song alone. Plus, plenty of other great material. I would love to see them come out to Majestic, too.

As much as I despise and flat out hate Journey, this is actually respectful, or at least a step in the right direction. The set could still be a lot better, if they would ever drop fuckin Open Arms and maybe, just maybe, include a song from ROR or God forbid TBF.

So they are getting better, perhaps growing some stones, but they are still very small stones.

I don't know any of the Revelation songs since I've never listened to it, but that set list isn't half bad. Cut out Rubicon, Open Arms, LTS and Stone in Love and throw in some Departure and RoR, and you got yourself a decent setlist.

But it's a step in the right direction, and it's awesome that they've included Place in your Heart and Still They Ride.

Cut out SIL? It's one of the dirty dozen, but watching Neal play that solo will never get old...

Never liked that song. Stone in Love is Journey's epitomy of commercial. Just imagining Herbie sitting behind his desk, cuddling with his tummy, while thinking about how that cliché of a song is gonna make the J-boys even richer, blows.

How so more than any of their other hits? There's 3 guitar solos and a pre-outro solo breakdown that's anything but commercial.

Dude, TBF is one of their best efforts. It has mellow, moderate and harder songs, probably more eclectic than any cd they have ever made. It's just a mature album that's all.

As for being dated, hate to tell you this, but Revelation, from the three songs I have heard, sounds really dated.

TBF is their best album musically, but it's a vocal shitfest. Perry sounds old, hollow and weak for the most part. He's still great on the ballads, but the rockers don't come close to rocking from a vocal standpoint. And we all know that the word "mature" is code for boring.

Its 13 years old, people know the songs on it less than they even know post-perry stuff....and it doesn't work in live settings. Mature it is indeed, but despite my many disagreements with this band on things, this isn't one of them. I couldn't agree more.

So they are getting better, perhaps growing some stones, but they are still very small stones.

Why would they play anything off TBF? Its dull and nobody knows any of it...and isn't post-perry. It doesn't meet any criteria of a song that this lineup would, could or should sing. It would be a waste. They need to play the classics and new stuff...there is no room for TBF. Message of Love fell flat on its face in 2001, no sense to whip that dog out ever again.

As far as ROR...they play BGTY.......they should play I'll be alright too...but the rest of that sounds dated and isn't well known either.

Dude, TBF is one of their best efforts. It has mellow, moderate and harder songs, probably more eclectic than any cd they have ever made. It's just a mature album that's all.

As for being dated, hate to tell you this, but Revelation, from the three songs I have heard, sounds really dated.

Its 13 years old, people know the songs on it less than they even know post-perry stuff....and it doesn't work in live settings. Mature it is indeed, but despite my many disagreements with this band on things, this isn't one of them. I couldn't agree more.

Well, when TBF came out, Journey was basically irrelevant in 1996, but those songs on that album are a helluva lot more recognizeable and better mind you, than anything off of Arrival, Generations or Revelations.

Can't Tame the Lion, MOL, and One More are all better rock songs than Higher Place, anything off Generations and Rev.
