They could team up with RUSH and get some chicken from Geddy's onstage rotisserie!

This really make me miss what PlanetUS could have been. Like TNC said the songwriting would have been stronger with Neal involved and Neal & Satch would have been unbelievable together, I imagine the music might have been more progressive. The lyrics could have been stronger here and there. The need love thing doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the Down the Drain lyrics. I think Sexy Little Thing and My Kinda Girl sound like they're from a Hagar solo album and would have been fine there. But there's hardly a hint that a guitarist of Satriani's caliber played on those two, I could do without them here. Otherwise, Satriani is great throughout.

7/10

Unique yet familiar. Some real strong moments, after a poor start. I get the feeling that the follow-up album will be very good...trying to find their groove and sound here.

Avenida Revolucion - Kinda drags into a 90's vibe, which isn't what I want, especially from these guys and especially as an opener. Couldn't even get through it a second time.

Soap on a Rope - More Sammyesque, but it gets a little boring

Sexy little thing - WOW....MUCH better...had that guitar sound I NEEEED. This is what I heard in my head when I read this band was being created.

Oh Yeah - Your typical fun Sammy party fanfare. It gets better on subsequent listens too...so it actually may transcend party rock.

Runnin' Out - Could fit on OU812. Some more melodic guitar in places.

Get it up - 80's meets 90's. Too 90's for my taste at the beginning...but then a cool guitar "bridge" changes the direction and it starts to really rock out

Down the Drain - Sounds like a moody VH tune......gets boring....then at about 3:00 Satchamo kicks this song in the balls

My Kinda Girl - How about....MY KIND OF SONG! Very Melodic...great harmonizing. My fave song on the album. Really can hear Anthony's backups and bass on this too.

Learning to Fall - Tremendous ballad.....very, very tasty. Sounds familiar? Vocals were top notch....sounds like the direction where music should have gone in the early 90's. Satch shows his awesome!

Turnin' Left - Not really my cup of tea...kinda all over the place, but Satch is worth listening to on it once or twice

Future in the past - Love the start..kinda reminded me of being younger. But not sure I dig how it changed into funk for a bit? Sounds like "Can't Find My Way Home". Satch is killer at the end again though.

I went to Best Buy in Erie PA and they were sold out already. Heard Oh Yeah on the radio up there too.

I really, really like this cd!!!!!!!!!!! Satch has never sounded more accessible and this is the best thing Sam has done in YEARS. Reminds me a lot of Van Hagar circa 5150, which I loved.
It's not a lie, if you believe it..........

I guess Erie radio stations have improved since I lived there  When I lived there all you got was top 40 music or oldies, but that was a lot of years ago. I think there were 2 or 3 major radio stations and none of them were great. I was jealous of bigger cities like Pittsburgh who had great rock radio stations!

Some friends told me it was soldout in stores around where I live too. Either they didn't distribute enough copies, or the album is actually selling well. Personally I didn't think what I heard of it was all that great - at least nothing that would spawn a hit record IMO. I also would have a hard time going to see them in concert if they are not playing any classic Sammy Hagar or Van Halen songs.

Most of the Roxy show is on Youtube. They do play "Bad Motor Scooter" and Deep Purple's "Highway Star," but I'm not sure if they bust out anything like "Only One Way To Rock" or "Summer Nights" or anything.

Actually, to me that's the coolest thing about them. I hate greatest hits tours, it takes
balls to go out and play a new album in it's entirety. I heard those old songs already.

I've given it a couple of spins.

Overall I give it a thumbs up. Great summer cruising album.

Sammy is rockin' harder than he has in the last few years. He still has the
pipes.

Joe is a great technician. Man can he play

Chad is a monster on the drums

And for the second time in his life - Michael is the luckiest bass player in the
world.

But where are the songs? This album sounds like a terrific jam. But Eddie had
emotion.

Yeah, and it also helps if you don't need to make any money from the tour. Without playing their greatest hits, they will not pack out larger venues.

You may like this idea, but most people won't pay to see a concert of songs they don't know.

But then again, you think Journey sucks balls, so go figure.

Well, I personally think it's cool that Sammy had a good business head on him to allow
this kind of thing to happen. From your post, it seems like you're implying that
Journey deserves the name "Corporate Rock".

Here is a video of Chickenfoot from their Conan O'Brien appearance:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TT19cB0NTM

Satch gave Conan the guitar he played on as a gift after the song.

What do you think of the clip? Personally I wasn't too impressed with it. It reminds me of the Cabo Wabo band which was never my cup of tea for some reason. Nothing like the Montrose/Hagar/Van Halen days for sure.

I guess they're having fun with it. It's all good.

I think the reputations of the artists on the album are affecting sales more than the actual content is.

Think about it... Satch has his crowd of fans from the Satriani projects... Sammy has his from the Montrose/Sammy Hagar/Van Halen projects.... Mike has his from the Van Halen projects... and Chad has his from the Chili Pepper's projects. It reminds me of the Damn Yankees... lots of star power but no real big hit songs.
