YoungJRNY wrote:Does anyone see a trend over the past.....uh...... 13 years or so with these threads? It goes something like this:

#1- A loon posts an interview/snippet/paper clipping/writing on a Gatorade cap that "SMFP" is "working on a new album" and then proceeds to get excited. Not only that BUT MAKES IT KNOWN IN THEIR POST by writing in CAPS in some area's to magnify their excitement.

#2- More excitement is followed by other posters who pump their fist at the fact that BELIEVING is the key and puts " " after everything they say.

#3- The asshole comes in and shits on the parade, stating that we've been here, done this, and won't believe it until they either hear the new album blasted on the radio, or a single goes to "#1" on the charts.

#4- Bickering back and forth occurs about what the asshole has to say and that this time this news is "reliable" and "real."

#5- By this time, the talk starts up about people predicting how many pages this thread will go just because it has Steve Perry in the title.

#6- The well thought out reason on why Perry WILL and SHOULD put out this CD, mostly for the fans.

#7- The poster in #6 triggers the next poster to give make a post about how pissed off they are about how "SMFP" hasn't came out with anything recently and proceeds to pound their chest about how mad they are about it.

#8- Asshole #2 comes in and says it'll never happen, and get over it.

#9- More fighting over #8.

#10- Flame wars start to occur, and this triggers displeasure about the Augeri years and how it "just isn't the same.." and that "the magic isn't there.."

#11- The Soto loyalists come out of the wood work and vow that they've been thinking about what the band did to JSS and proceed that they are done with Journey all together.

#12- The poster of "Can't we all just get along" poster shows up

#13- It's starting to get personal, and people start calling out when Andrew will lock this thread.

#14- Deano makes his cameo and "mother fucks" a poor soul into oblivion.

#15- Arnel's accent is the reason why Journey won't go anywhere, and Friga is gay comments start to flush.

#16- There will be no other like Steve Perry, and his voice will forever live in infamy.

#17- Is a reunion tour possible?

#18- More flaming wars over the question in #17. There will be no more Journey with Perry because Neal is a midget who has too many girlfriends who divorce him.

#19- Andrew is only 2 hours away from getting up, so you better get things in before it's locked..

#20- Kevin Chalfant should of been the right choice for Perry's replacement in 1998

#21- I got screwed and cheated in 2005, and blame Augeri for ruining my life.

#22- Perry's new record will smash anything Journey has ever done.

#23-LOCKED

Oh, God...dude, I'm fucking hurting I laughed so hard. My poor sides! That was great and really not far from the truth.

G. I always knew you to be a smart guy..... but I think you are RIGHT ON TARGET (so to speak).
Perry loves his little Mac Book lap top, and guess what that Lap Top syncs with? Pro Tools, Editing equipment, all kinds of techno stuff that I think floats Perry's boat (maybe a Yacht in his case). I think when he did the music production work on Monster with Patty Jenkins, and the work he did for Sony on the DVD's, I think he got all fired up about the technology available these days for such masterpieces. I think he is TOTALLY interested in Directing, producing, and such. IMO he has been up to that very thing for all these years. Learning all he can about those processes and enjoying the hell out of it. He's very smart, and music production (not just singing) takes him to the level where he finds happiness. Perhaps he will "fly" Steveperry.com soon and market his new CD/DVD recording like most of the other independent musicians do these days. CD BABY, their own websites, no need for contracts or labels. He's saavy and a smart business man and knows exactly what he is doing. There are many choices for him. That might be the hardest part for him, making the choice. Ptherwise, I really believe we will see this CD by the end of this year, beginning of next, when he feels the timing is right. 8) 8)

That's what I'm thinkin'. :D

Only concern is timing. If Perry were to release a new CD that would put it on a collision course with the release of Journey's new CD. That is assuming, of course, that Perry releases anything at all. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

Meanwhile, I'll be in my basement limbering up for the Loon Happy Dance...you know, just in case....

Seeing there's no big Wal-Mart deal to promote Journey's next release, I don't think it matters either way. Unless Perry does a big time duet with a major player, I expect him and Journey to garner the same amount of publicity when their records debut. Perry might have a little more push as People will be saying "the Voice of Journey releases his first album in 15 years, yada, yada, yada". If he can get Randy to mention it on AI, that might be a good thing.

In reality, which is not where most of the die-hards (on either side) live... ... it's neither good nor bad. Totally subjective based on which team you bat for. If you're a "Perry ruined Journey and they ROCK so hard without him!" guy (or girl) then it's a bad thing because he will be seen as "up to something" and his release will be "SUSPICIOUSLY TIMED!"

If you're a full-on wack-a-loon, then it's a good thing because "he's going to blow Journey off the map! Drool drool, squish squish..."

If you are in the middle and don't really give a damn about conspiracy theories and excessive drooling, and just like the music, then it isn't a good or a bad thing. It just 'is'.

I WANT TO SEE THIS MAN PERFORM AGAIN BEFORE I DIE.....What catagory does that put me Bluejean?   I hope he feels confident that when he feels like letting us hear it, he will be greatly remembered and welcomed. I can like Journey for what they are doing now.............but his return would be greatly anticipated. His voice is so unique. I am not a gushy I want to marry this man, kind of fan. He is a Rembrant or a Michaelangelo to me. A great artist, with the mastery of vocals that few could every touch.

60 versus 40. Pineda blows Perry out of the water TODAY, and I don't care what anyone says. I know for most of you, Perry blasting farts over audio will do, but don't expect his new CD to be anything spectacular. The man is 60, and who knows how old he will be if he ever stops being a putang and puts out an album. He doesn't even trust himself, thus disappearing in the music world altogether confirms that.

Well if they come out at the same timWARBLE VS DICTION, COMING SOON!!
e it will sure make for some great threads on MelodicRock!!

HOO BOY! A head-to-head show down. Perry v. Journey and/or Perry v. Pineda? Andrew will never get any sleep.

Gunbot, where the hell did you get that avatar? Did Perry go through an Emo stage I'm not aware of?

60 versus 40. Pineda blows Perry out of the water TODAY, and I don't care what anyone says. I know for most of you, Perry blasting farts over audio will do, but don't expect his new CD to be anything spectacular. The man is 60, and who knows how old he will be if he ever stops being a putang and puts out an album. He doesn't even trust himself, thus disappearing in the music world altogether confirms that.

Youngjrny while I respect your oppinion, you have not heard him sing live have you? 60 is not a death sentence to a singer. :D
