You're missing the point, Tim. The system failed Utah. This is not about Utah being able to beat Florida. It's about which team, according to the system and prior voting tendencies, should have been the National Champion. Utah took care of business and Florida lost at home to a team that was not in the top 10. Florida, while probably the better team, forfeited their right to be crowned National Champions by what they did against another team at home...not would they could have done against Utah.

This is the equivalent of the NFL telling the Giants that even though they won the Super Bowl the trophy is going to the Patriots because everyone knew they were better. It just doesn't make any fucking sense. Florida losing at home to a mediocre team, Utah running the table and losing no games, and Utah whipping a team Florida struggled mightily against makes Utah the better team since they didn't play each other. Logic mandates that. In the end, the BCS needs a 4 or 8 team playoff and most of this would be moot.

The Utes were #1, really.
Ran the table unlike the "Champions" AND got into a BCS game and throttled a "Southern Speed" school.
Case closed.

I tell you what joepa, you keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you may believe that unbelievable load of horse shit. It sounds like sour grapes to me because you know that conference up there will NEVER equal the power of the SEC. Hell, everyone knows it. ESPN used to kiss their ass and do their best to rationalize the Big 10 and Big 12 being the top dogs but each year the SEC just kept winning National Championships. Finally-and after much chagren-they had to admit the SEC is the best.
SJ, how can you call Ole Miss a mediocre team? Sure, at the time of the Florida game they were considered that but as the season went everyone realized these guys were for real. Did you forget the throttling they gave Texas Tech in their back yard, the Cotton Bowl? Jevan Snead is a great QB.
In the case of Utah why didnt they argue and fight when the BCS came out in 1996? They had reps there as did every conference. Why didnt they bitch about the Mountain West not being a BCS conference back then??? They accepted it then and now they wanna cry about being left out.
I really wish Florida wouldve played them instead of Joklahoma. I wish they could play them in Utah.

of course!!! Its the first NFL game of the year!!! He is a dud but if they think Kerry Collins is gonna hold out much longer in this league then they are in fantasyland...have they drafted a QB since Young?

Just responding to you quick Gator then I'll let you be at your College football expertise.

Obviously Kerry Collins isn't your long term Quarterback.. everybody knows that the guy is 37 years old and holds no future impact. But you know what? He led them to a strong season, and proved he can still throw the ball down field, which gives Collins a right to be their guy NOW. Their window of opportunity is closing on the QB position.

Vince Young was drafted in the first round and was supposed to be their franchise Quarterback of the future and be that piece of the puzzle to take them to new heights. He didn't look bad in his first year, and his second year he took them to the playoffs, but it was all down hill from there. He is not dependable, bailed out on his teammates, has no leader ship quality, and simply is just a horrible Quarterback when all is said and done. Being a great athlete just doesn't cut it in the NFL. Hell, they are ALL great athletes. Tennessee never drafted a Quarterback since because the money is in Young, and their future was in Young. This will be VY's last year in a Titans uniform. He is competing not for the #1, but #2! Watching him in the H.O.F game he looked tense, and he was rushing things to the point where the game has sped up too fast for him. He needs to find composure just to land a #2 spot. We are witnessing a collapse here, which everyone saw coming.

YJ, not asking this because of my Florida connection but what would you think about Tebow going to the Titans next draft? He has his critics but hes proven he can play plus he spent this entire off season with new Gator QB's coach Scott Loefler who was responsible for many big name qbs, including Tom Brady. Plus the guy will provide the leadership and a good morale to a team in need of one.
Just wondering your opinion...

Tebow could be a Pro Bowl tight end or even a good H-back, the old Redskins position if he really hones the positions.

Tebow has many qualities most teams want as far as football leadership is concerned, and also the drive that teams crave. He is a players player, and also a coach's player and teammates can relate to him and want to go out there and play with and for him. However, the NFL is a whole different beast & I just DON'T see him landing anywhere where he can meet Quarterbacking criteria in the NFL. Most systems in the NFL rely big on the drop back, pocket quarterback who can think quick with the football and deliver the ball downfield showing composure in the pocket.

The system Tebow runs in Florida is no other than a gloried scat offense in the NFL (mostly Flordia runs the Option.. the Option in the NFL is pretty much non-existent) and I believe him being under center in a basic NFL system will spell doom for him. If he would want to excel at QB at the NFL level, then he is better off going to a West Coast offense like Tampa Bay, Arizona, Seattle, or San Francisco where those units can get him one quick read, and if all breaks down he can do what he does best and use his big body and legs to create room that plays into his strength.

You can't deny the heart this guy has, nor how athletic and reliable he is to a football team. But to put him in a system that runs a more rhythmical, drop back type offense, I think he will fail. Because of this reason, he will fall in the later rounds of next year's draft because teams won't know how to use him, whether it be at quarterback or at another position, which noone knows how THAT will pan out and remains to be seen. But the kind of player he is alone might be worth the risk, even if he can provide you with a body that can run a certain type of formation, like the Wildcat. We'll see how he does in his senior year with Florida and how he adjusts to being a pure passer.

What a complete joke this team is.

Get a load of this OOC schedule:

Akron.
Syracuse
Temple
Eastern Illinois

If this team goes undefeated and loses out in the Championship game to a one loss Florida, USC or Texas/Oklahoma, I don't want to hear you bitch.

This is ridiculous.

After SC comes into your Horseshoe and rolls you, I won't expect you around this thread any longer. The Big Ten is the worst conference in the land. If SC does you in your own crib, there is nothing left in that conference worth a shit.

Could very well happen, Joe should be ASHAMED of Akron and Eastern IL being on there. Temple's a relationship and they didn't know Syracuse would become a virtual Iaa team when that deal was signed.
But the Pac10 is worse than the Big11 right now dude. Gator raised a good point earlier about USC NEEDING to schedule O$U because of weak conference SOS.

Um, no you dolt.

USC=NC contender.
Cal- Darkhorse NC team
Oregon- top 15 team
Ore St- Top 15 team

Big Ten has one good team (maybe) in OSU, and PSU is adequate.

Pac 10 is a lot better than the Big ten.

Listen, horse's ass.
You're going off a PRE season poll :!:
Let's check back after bowl season and we'll go over records, bowl performances and how the respective conferences fared in OOC games.

First off douchehole, the Big Ten and PAC 10 have contracts to various bowls..doesn't mean they actually earn their way into said bowl. So yeah, after the year, the Big 10 will have 7 teams go to bowls, the PAC 10 will have 5/6 and of those teams, the only real good ones will be SC, Cal, ORE, and Ohio State.

I see you getting used to the word, "loss." That is the first step in accepting the University of Michigan Football season.

1) you still have upper tanks @ work? Where's that Olson's Mercantile from Little House or something?
2) Did JSS ever figure you out as the culprit on his upper decker?

The ultimate darkhorse this year.

Alabama at the Georgia Dome to open, and a toughie at home vs Nebraska. get by those two, and you might be in NC game.

Yep, I agree. I have a lot of hope for this team this year. But scared too because we're really good at choking in major regular season games.
Beamer's good people. We both hail from good ol' Carroll County VA. His son's a little prick though, remember him? Shane, was that his name? Tried coaching at Georgia Tech (I think).

Va Tech and Georgia have the most difficult OOC schedule this season....Im ashamed of Florida's OOC games this season, except for Florida State. But that night game against LSU, saturday night, 8pm kickoff in Death Valley...gonna be HUGE!!! possibly the biggest game of the year!!!
I think Va Tech beats Bama in the Ga Dome...new Tide QB...big game to start the season, and never started before.
