Journey will be playing Open Arms and the camera will pan to Oprah in the front row with her best friend, lacky or whatever , and they'll both be singing. and swaying. Then the "Soccer Mom Cam" will go through the audience while running a Haagen Das ticker across the bottom of the screen...

Opie will get more camera time than Journey.

I can't believe the fans would want to see this. I guess Journey's gotta do what they gotta do to sell stuff and I get it. Their female fans are now Oprah's demo, but .... ugh.

The only way this could be cool is if it was a feature on Arnel's charity stuff. Otherwise, I just can't see the point and it seems that it will just make them look really watered down. I remember Bon Jovi on there and other "rock" bands and they just came off as so white.

I just can't see Opie bein a Journey fan.

:?

I don't see the problem. After all, Journey and Oprah basically have the same audience demo. Why wouldn't Journey take advantage of a ready made captive audience? What, you're worried about Journey losing its "cool" factor? Even in it's heyday Journey was never cool. Whatever you may think about those "soccer moms" you must bear in mind two things: a) the soccer moms of today were once the bouncy, perky little 19-20 year olds flashing their boobage at Journey concerts for the world to see back in the day, and b) women in that age cohort have a great deal of disposable income (economic down-turn notwithstanding).

Why is it hard to see Oprah being a Journey fan? You doubt the wide-spread appeal of Journey?

This has got to be the post of the week!!!! So true, so true.... every single word of it. What an embarrassment for Journey to go on Oprah. Yeah, she owns half the damn United States so it's great publicity for Journey, but brywool is right. The camera will be poised on Oprah most of the time while her & her best friend Gail glue those fake smiles on their faces pretending to give two shits about Journey. I bet Oprah can't even name one single member of the band. During the interview she'll probably ask them "Which one's Steve?"

Love the "Soccer Mom Cam" comment, too!

Not to water down this thread, but there is nowhere I have seen this officially confirmed. If this was really happening wouldn't there be some announcement of this news on the official site. Just a rumor until then, just sayin.

Here's an idea:
As Arnel sings OA on the Oprah show, the curtain backdrop opens - revealing TA DA! - SMFP, and the crowd goes nuts! Arnel, thinking the screams were for him acknowledges the crowd, turns around and gets the shock of his life! Man, I will skip work to watch this!
Idea taken from this American Idol episode with a wannabe Clay Aiken.

Well, the Fazioli is somewhere else, not at this concert I have linked, so there might be some truth to some of the equipment being set up elsewhere and Journey having to make a quick trip from point A to point B. Notice Cain is playing the Whale in the following Vid. Also, ehem...this is, IMO, AP's best rendition of Patiently/WCTNGOF. Wow! :D

sigh. Wrong.
I guarantee you if it wasn't for Arnel's story, NOBODY would be talking about Journey these days. NOBODY. Just like Styx.

I'm just bummed about Journey having to go on Oprah to get a break. Oprah to me is the antithesis of rock. Oprah is a place for Celine Dion not Journey. I remember watching Prince on there. Hated it. I just can't believe she's ever heard a Journey record.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Yes, one must love all the matching costumes and perfectly choreographed dance routines that so mark they style of "boy band".

All I know is that if I watch it, and I hear, say "DSB" (which you know you will), I will forever have Opie associated in my minds eye with it. I got nothing against her personally. Her show just is annoying.

Hey, at least they're not on "16 and Pregnant".

My vote is that they go on Ghost Hunters!

If Journey were smart, they would do NASCAR.

Go laugh it up. I know, Necks, cars and going in circles, ha ha ha. Forget about the 200,000 people in attendance, and the huge viewership on the tube. Journey could use this big time. Going on Oprah sure will solidify the stay at home Mommy and reassure you all of more Open Arms in the future! Yay! How fucking exciting. Have Schon play the National Anthem as fighters roar overhead. leave Friga the fuck outta the picture, and Pineda too. Then have the band play some good driving rock, like SW, KOR, SIL, stuff of that nature.

On a further note, have Schon play the SSB in the back of a Chevy Silverado as it circles the track. That would make Sportscenter.
