The fact that he can't even acknowledge the band or its music shows me that he probably has a really tough time not being in the band anymore (or being able to be in the band anymore). More specifically, that he can't sing like he used to. Anyone that had a voice like Perry used to, the fucking best ever in the history of this world or any other, and he has to "put his head down on the console" while mixing old tape, is having a really hard time coping with something physical and/or psychological. And my guess is, especially after hearing him totally whiff on TBF, it's "the voice." He should be beaming with fucking pride when he does something like edit the old Houston show!

Exactly... how many ex-wives/husbands look at their replacement and go... hey.... "Not as hot as me, but nice ass or tits on her!"

LMAO!! Especially when they kicked your ass out!!

I'd kick my spouse out for not wanting to work too.

Some people have a hard time recognizing their own talent. I know as an artist, I'm always my own worst critic and I know most others feel the same way. It's different when you're actually in those shoes.

These guys were co-workers, man, not married. They never had sex (at least I hope not! :? ) or did anything more than make music, party and travel together. This isn't remotely like being married. If you ever compare hanging out with guys, making music, performing, drinking and fucking chicks to ... being married ever again, I will fly down to Cleveland and rip your sack off with my bare hands.

I gave my spouse a few months off after she got a bout of Asbestos poisoning from working in the mines BUT I made it very clear not to expect this type of generosity from me on a regular basis.

The bottom line is that if SP still has an equal say in Journey matters, the other guys agreed to that arrangement. Blame SP all you want, but if Schon and Cain signed up, so be it.

I noticed Kevin didn't allude to his opinion of the new album, so I also wonder what that means? You'd think he'd have been giving it props if it is any good. Maybe Schon and Pineda wanted it to rock harder and JC wanted sap.

Didn't he give it props before? It was, essentially, finished in the spring.

That was before everything was mixed, vocals with instruments and so forth. He certainly hasn't hyped it up as much as his other projects with Mr. Big, Iron Maiden, etc. but he may not be sure what the band is going for either with this NEW change of direction.

...and don't forget Joe Bonamassa!
Admittedly, I don't know the guy's material and I'm sure he is the talent that many seem to lay claim to, but I'm just tired of hearing about him from Kevin's blogs and how he's constantly cranking out albums (props to him for it, but maybe I'm just in the minority on this).

I think Kevin is more of a metal guy. I'm thinking He was pulling for no ballads this album but the guy he was backing lost so he's not pumped anymore concerning it. I thought the question was more about Arnel but he totally sidestepped it.

Kevin has also said he prefers to record bands live, I can see where that would work best with metal or a hard rocking song. He's trying to capture that spontaneous energy you can only get with a live performance. Ballads just don't work as well.

By the way, PianoMan, Bonamassa is a very talented guitarist, singer, songwriter. Check out his Live at The Royal Albert Hall dvd they often show it on Palladia it will make you a believer. 8)

Shirley is somewhere between Cain and Schon on the ballad-to-rocker scale. Neal pushes Shirley too.
