Ya. If it didn't work in 1999 with downloaded music, what makes them think it's going to work now? Just amazing that these guys don't face reality and find a creative way to profit from what this kind of technology can do for their concerts.

The whole thing just reaks of hipocrisy, if it wasn't for tribute bands and youtube, they wouldn't even have the singer they do now. And oh sure, now Neal grows a pair and fights to make a rock album.......which would have been a perfect fit with Soto. LOL, sorry but I'm just all kinds of done with Journey this time.

Ok, done venting. :)

I think the whole thing is a preemptive attack on The Escape Tribute band. They're going to start touring again in a couple of months. They don't want videos of Kelty on there nailing the classics. They'll turn Neil's band into the tribute!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I could care less how well Kelty (or anyone else) sings the Journey catalog. If I go to a live show, I'm there to see the band perform their songs, not to see 5 people (however talented they might be) with no connection to the band other than being fans of the music that was created. Maybe I'm in the minority however.

I agree, with a minor correction, Chief -- ArnelPinedaRocks.com (also ArnelPineda.com) is AP's official website... not a fansite. But carry on, though.

I guess its different when one goes to see a band with 3 of 5 members with a connection to the band that created the music than 0 of 5.

  LOL music is my drug of choice, the anticipation is half the fun, Kev. I've waited 20 years to see them live and re-united. Imagine if you will, an original member Journey tour and re-union. Yep!

would be nice, but the closest I got to seeing Perry was the infamous Greensboro ROR concert. Better than nothing, I presume, but my luck hasn't been all that good. True to his word, he hasn't played a show in NC since that day.

Seeing them at Day on The Green with Perry and Rolie was amazing.... the harmonies on "Anytime"... "La Do Da"... there was just something about the combination of Perry and Rolie's voices that was magical...

I saw them when they came here on the Escape tour, great show. But I would have loooooooved to have seen an ROR concert. Sadly, the ROR tour never made it to Canada before it was cancelled or whatever. :(

Heck ya! Vid quality isn't the greatest but there is just something about those Perry/Rollie vocals together on oldies like La Do Da, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxfA1_3b ... re=related

Same goes for the Chalfant/Rolie vocals with The Storm.

Seriously, though...why would Neal do this? It is weird decisions like this that has soured me towards that band.....I'm being 100% serious.

The more I think about this I don't think it's Neal. More like management. Neal can't be that stupid and vindictive toward other bands (maybe he can) and now seeing that
a lot of Journey tunes are gone from YT, I think it's management.

Well if someone finds a performance of let's say Don't Stop Believin and they hear it and don't realize it's Journey because it's a casual fan who just really knows that song by the band and the performance they find on youtube isn't really up to snuff musically or vocally it could have an effect on whether that casual fan goes out and see's a Journey concert the next time they're in the area. I mean other than die hard fans who would actually know what Ross, Deen, or Arnel looks like or who they are if they saw them walking down center street USA? Even the same could be said for Cain and Schon although they would probably have a harder time walking without being known because those 2 along with Perry were seen by a lot as the core of the band.

What he said.

Besides, if this album is one of their best in a long time, then it really matters not if their last album goes out on a high. Ross said in an interview that there will be a Journey as
long as Arnel lasts. They will still tour, regardless of whether they record new music or not. As far as those that believe Journey is gonna retire after this tour, well, stand to be proven wrong when they run 5 more years after this. Cash that check.

This "horrid" new music is what keeps them from becoming just another nostalgic throwback band like Styx. Talk about ruining legacy........
