A lot of us just don't like the song and for some, it breaks up the ride on an otherwise very enjoyable album. We don't have to 'get it', that's not what Journey music has ever been about. Just because the band and some fans may think it's a stellar track doesn't mean that the rest of us need to get in step with this tune.

Who ever suggested anyone has to like it? I thought the conversation was deeper and more interesting than that.

Based on some of the incredible insanity displayed before us ...

That's bullshit. His vocals are far from "thin throughout". We all get you ladies love to piss all over (don't do it, beshad) on the current Journey, but the fact is that Arnel is brining vocals to the J-boyz that Perry would never be able to do - not now or even ten years ago.

This is a decent effort and one of the first Journey records I can play in the car without having my buddies calling me a fag.

 Thin? That's very hard for me to wrap that around my head. I feel as though Arnel was brought forth to do one thing and to do one thing only: rock the absolute living HELL out of Journey songs and that's not asked if one's voice is thin.

There were times on the album that Arnel is so in the zone in BELTING out the music from that little body of his (where does it come from?) that I actually had to lower the volume from his very strong and overwhelming vocals and capabilities. Arnel has a rougher voice for Journey IMHO and has absolute power.

Augeri came on-board and was the definition of 'thin.' The weakness of his voice however was made up of the type of soul he pronounced in his singing style but yet, people couldn't cling to that. Even Deen's voice is too thin but yet, makes up for it with soulful approach.

Arnel simply blows Augeri's hardest pronounced vocals at his BEST out of the water with one simple note. Arnel may not have the soulful sound in his voice to the degree of other vocalists, but what comes out of him is none other than monstrous. Speaking of soul, I find "She's A Mystery" to be VERY dramatic and soulful. If I close my eyes, I swear Perry snuck into the room and added this one in there and I always thought Arnel sounds absolutley nothing like Steve Perry other having the tenor-type voice/pitch to handle.

I will go as far as saying I hear a helluva-lot more POWER in Arnel's voice than I heard in SP's. SP was loud and used his flawless technique to make him sound powerful but Arnel truly belts out his own style with more edge IMO.

I guess i'm the opposite, I like this song. I think it stands out on an otherwise so-so cd. I give them an A for effort but the majority of songs on this disc don't do anything for me(theres bits and pieces i like ,but there's other bits that i just want to say... ugh!). My patience for half good songs and half not so good or boring songs is low nowadays.(i guess that happens after you have listened to thousands and thousands of cds).

I would venture a guess that there are many people here that are in the same boat as i , listening to the cd over and over hoping to like it ,but realizing there's not much replay value. It's interesting, its different .Is it a classic?...hardly, a classic would be something that everyone wants to hear, something that everyone would remember an love, not just 10%of the fans that wanted journey to do a rocker.

I hear what you're saying. The name "Journey" will sell itself alone both from older fans that browse by and wonder what this time around could be or the youthfulness of their re-emergence with the DSB/Glee crowd. Regardless, chalk me up as that 10% that a diehard fan appreciates. I love the musicianship these guys CONSISTENTLY put out and I'm thankful they are still giving us top- quality albums this late in the game of their career's.

Arnel's voice is not thin at all. Compare it to someone who does have a thin voice, like Deen or Hugo.

Good post, Yulie ...I'm not even thinking classic as I listen to these songs.
I'm in that 10 percent ...and I still love this soooo much better than Revelation, it is much
more listenable to me ...classic?! No, but it does not bore me ...yet!

I'm trying to look past that!! If you hear soul, that's great ...
I absolutely do not and you do not wear this motown girl's
ears!!!

That's bullshit. His vocals are far from "thin throughout". We all get you ladies love to piss all over (don't do it, beshad) on the current Journey, but the fact is
that Arnel is brining vocals to the J-boyz that Perry would never be able to do - not now or even ten years ago.

This is a decent effort and one of the first Journey records I can play in the car without having my buddies calling me a fag.
do not lump all of the ladies into my opinion... I stand alone!!! Some of them really LOVE this song!!
Raawr .... wink

I have no idea what you just tried to say here.

Ah... Women.
thanks for fixing that, sparky!! wink
