Wow. This is getting sad. Perry needs to move on with life. It's one thing to protect the legacy - (and re-releasing the old albums remastered with bonus tracks was ok) - but enuff already! Now he's almost like the Tupac or the Elvis estate releasing posthumous collections every month.

Greatest Hits Live with it's TBFish artwork and "suddenly unearthed tapes" dropped the same month as Remember Me I think.

I guess Schon/Cain are content to have their pockets lined by these legacy type releases, no matter the coincidental timings.

Garbage.

Why is that song garbage?

Because Journey has 200 songs better than it. Shit...Bad English has 20 songs better than it.

Because it gets skipped 99% of the time.

Because its BS that a mediocre ballad on an album filled with mediocre ballads would get the privilege of being on a Journey GH album over superior songs from the same era just because Steve Perry sang it and didn't sing on the better songs.

Its just garbage and it pisses me off - and that's being nice.

It wouldn't have been a song I would have chosen for the GH II from that record. I would have chosen Message of Love (Unless it's on the Essentials :?: ) or If He Should Break Your Heart since that song was released to radio at least. But, overall, if we're just talking about Perry fronted Journey (and this is what this GH II album is supposed to be) then it's a pretty good mix of songs. Definitely a good album for a casual Journey fan to have.

Cain and Schon likely profit some from this, so frankly they probably don't object because it means another paycheck for yet another avenue. They probably also know that after all this time it's just not worth dealing with Perry on this type of stuff. Let him do what he wants to, we do what we want to, and everyone makes $$$$.

It looks like every time Neals' projects tank Perry and Sony put out something to boost or balance Journey back up. Except for Revelation it did ok on it's own. JMO

 Pretty big other than there. Mrs Lincoln thought the play was good, too aside from the other event.

Overall, the album does a good job for the casual fan....but its an opportunity to get folks to sit down and listen to deeper cuts. I'm just protective of what I think Journey should be - and some of those songs aren't it.

There is a space out there that needs to be filled and Eclipse isn't doing it so why not capitalize on it if you're Sony? Was it all that long ago when Perry sent feelers about releasing some of the older stuff like DVDs and what not? The GH has to be nearing saturation, having something else to throw out there which won't cost Sony really any money to promote (Escape is proving that) is just smart business.

The re-records had nothing to do with Revelation's sales. It's just the excuse du jour for the album selling well. Funny how the original sentiment on here was that the fans would roundly reject the package because of those re-records. Now, years later, and almost a million packages moved, it's the only way to justify the sales and pat Perry on the head.

It's really simple. The promotion and exposure (Ellen, Oprah, CBS Sunday Morning Show and GQ), the price, the inclusion of a live DVD and 2 songs on the AC charts, all made it the perfect package. And that's why it sold. Now, let's look at Eclipse. No promotion, no exposure, not nearly the TV audiences reached, no DVD, no songs on the AC charts and a horrible price. The math seems pretty simple to me. Throw in a DVD, put them on Oprah (hypothetically, since she's off the regular air), Ellen, a multi-page article in GQ, put 2 songs on the charts and you'll see similar sales. Probably not as many because the sales of CDs have come down dramatically since Revelation's release, but they'd be at a couple hundred thousand by now (3-4) and still moving units.

I already have everything, literally everything. I own all of it, right down to Neal and Jon's solo albums. There is nothing more for me to buy, until there is another album or DVD.
WinAmp has a shuffle option. Why would I go buy an album of something I already have?

You still use WinAmp? lol

I think Jon and Neal would have objected. All they need is some DJ playing that version and starting a trend. The band seems to have enough identity issues as it is.

Enough already. You know, you really can go to the well one too many times. So now we've got GH II with a bunch of second tier songs. What's next, GH III featuring Back Talk, Homemade Love, and a couple of re-mastered, re-mixed samples from Perry's personal hand-held recorder of sketches of songs featured on the the first two GH CDs???

It may be an excuse, for some, but one cannot prove that the GH's
had no bearing on Revelation sales, same as one can't prove that
it did. The fact is, we shall never know.

I agree, I'm passing on this one. I already have all of the songs anyway. What I would really like to see them do is release concert videos with CD's from every tour that they did with Perry.

My GH2, since nothing Journey has put out has really been a hit for years anyway:

1. Message Of Love
2. Still She Cries
3. The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love)
4. Remember Me
5. Higher Place
6. Signs Of Life
7. World Gone Wild
8. I'm Not That Way
9. To Be Alive Again
10. The Place In Your Heart
11. A Better Life
12. Never Too Late
13. We Will Meet Again
14. Never Walk Away
15. After All These Years
16. Change For The Better
17. Where Did I Lose Your Love

As far as I'm concerned Journey 78-83 is the best band ever.

But I do think people should move on and not get in the way, too.
