StocktontoMalone wrote:"But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered;

On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore.""

Did you know this?

For over 50 years since 1949, on the night marking the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birth, a mysterious man-in-black has entered the cemetery where the master of the macabre lies buried, and, making his way through the dark shadows to Poe's grave, he places a partial bottle of expensive French cognac and three blood-red roses there, presumably as tokens of admiration and in tribute to the great author. This ritual completed, he then slips away into the night as quietly and as mysteriously as he came.

The identity of this dark stranger (dubbed the "Poe Toaster" by observers) has never been revealed. And out of respect to the memory and legacy of Poe, and with a desire to preserve the sanctity of the performance of the ritual, no attempt has ever been made to stop or hinder this enigmatic admirer.

You do know there is a # 1 defense in the league out of 32 teams.. and even though Baltimore holds the # 2 spot, that #1 belongs to the Steelers. No matter how bad Baltimore thinks they are (now without Suggs and Rolle) The Steelers are ranked 1. Translation, they are better. All you hear about is how are the Steelers going to score on the Ravens.

Ben isn't flinching, trust me. We know this team inside out, as do they know us inside out. Difference? A Superbowl Quarterback at home against the # 2 defense in the league. The other side? A rookie Quaterback in the AFC Championship game, the #6 seed, against the #1 defense in the league, who already is 0-2 against the team he's facing.

Like I said. Ben isn't flinching. (Afterall, he did take them the length of the field with 2 min left) He's a gamer.

The Steelers are coming, Flacco.

Both JFB and I did.

I pick em Sunday too.

It's so hard to beat the same team 3 times in one year.

I hope that murderer Ray Lewis hits Big Ben so fucking hard he is seeing crossdressing cheerleaders. Nothing against Ben, he is a fine guy, but I despise Pittsburgh; no offence Stu and YoungJrnyfan.

"Your" coach Tomlin called a Flacco a winner in his press conference today and said when Flacco led the game tying drive to force OT the first time these two teams played this year (which was Flacco's 3rd or 4th NFL game), he "knew they'd have to deal with this guy for a long time."

The Ravens have been dealing with injuries all year, and the next man has stepped up every time. It will be no different this Sunday. But I think Suggs and Rolle will be out there on pure adrenaline.

Tomlin talks like that in every press conference he has. He made the Browns sound like and I quote "The best players in the world." That's the kind of coach he is.. taking noone for granted. He'd make my high school team sound like the greatest thing on the grid-iron, and they went 0-9.

As for dealing with injuries, that's something the Steelers have been doing since I've even knew what a football was. All teams play with injuries, and that's what separates the good teams from the rest of the pack, depth. Unfortunately for you, Suggs or Rolle won't play ( Rolle with a leg and Suggs with a shoulder.. which the doctor has said "He hasn't seen anything like it.")

Baltimore is always a scary game.. REGARDLESS.. but I think the Steelers pretty much deal with them and squash them in the cement like the way it should be.

Suggs and Rolle will play. Ravens heal fast, esp. when the AFC Championship Game is on the horizon.

Yeah, I could see that. I wonder if the Jets will consider Gruden now. Word was they had already decided on Rex Ryan. And Jason Garrett is supposedly the frontrunner in St. Louis.

I had a pretty positive opinion of Garrett early on, but now I'm not sure he's all I thought he was. In fact I'm pretty sure he isn't. I'm not sure whether his decisions were being influenced by others here, but some of the play calling was horrendous, to say the least. If they'll hire Gruden to get rid of Phillips, I'm all for it. I originally argued with John from Boston about Phillips when he would bash him, and have since and will again, apologize. He was correct on all comments.

In NFL history the same teams have played each 3 times in a season, 18 times. The team that won the first 2 won 11 of those 18...so over 1/2 the time (61% if you REALLY want to know) so it's not really that hard.

Here is an interesting piece on it: http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/01/12/appa ... nts-three/

It's the TO cancer...the guy, while a tremendous athelete, is nothing but a cancer to the teams he has played on, EVERY single one of them.

Randy Moss is easily as good of a reciever, but has learned to shut up, make his millions and play the game.

How ironic. They passed on Moss because of his past, but took Owens.

Moss is a FAR better receiver than Owens is. Owens outweighs Moss by about 40lbs so should be able to leverage that physique into far more catches. Moss has NEVER dropped as many balls as TO has and has made FAR more highlight reel catches throughout his career than Owens has. Even when Moss was in Minnesota and Oakland, he was NEVER the fucking poison Owens has been EVERYWHERE.

Wasn't Moss on that Viking team that went 15-1. God, it's got to be killing him to be so close to a ring, just not getting there.

As for the games tomorrow....This is going to be a VERY tough week for me. While Philadelphia is on a nice run, I still believe they are a VERY mediocre team. I also think Arizona is the worst team ever to get this deep into the playoffs. I think these two teams are both very average but someone has to win. Someone should probably let McNabb know that there are no ties in the playoffs. I think Arizona pulls out this game and actually goes to the Super Bowl, which is just wrong on sooooo many levels.

As for Pittsburgh and Baltimore...this is going to be a black and blue game. Two offenses that can't get out of their own way and two QB's who are praised more than they should be, based on their onfield performance! Defense will rule this game and I just can't see a defense as good as Pittsburgh's losing to a rookie QB. I think the Steelers win a VERY close game. I'd be stunned if more than 20 points combined are scored in this game!

Owens is psychological poison to any club. He did better in Dallas for a while, but he got back to his old self before he was through.

You should adjust your sig to 1776 to 2000, btw.

Um. No. Everything was going on just fine until the 08 campaign started. When it looked more and more likely the party of "We're going to take their profits" might win. The bottom fell out, if I were a businessman I would have cashed out too! Just like Wayne Huizinga is cashing out on the Dolphins before he's hit with new taxes. Quit hoping and think about it.

Agreed. Moss was looking at $$$$ when he left there. Why go across the middle and get tattooed when you're down 20 points every game. He preserved himself and rightly so. The organization gave up on the players...not the other way around.

Let's see, if the world has 6.7 billion people on it, and the only people on the planet that approve of Bush are 30% (generous) of the U.S., which with my inept math skills equates to something like 75 million people. You're like in the 1 percentile of the world that think you shouldn't change your sig.

By the way, the 15-1 vikings with randall cunningham and randy moss is the team that shoulda. But they got cute right before halftime. Then at the end to seal the game. Mr. dependable anderson kicked a chip shot and missed. Atlanta kicked a field goal and won in OT!

aFTER THAT PLAYOFF LOSS A viking fan that had a huge lifetime viking sports collection piled it in his drive way and burned it.

I slit my wrists but they clotted and I lived!
