How pathetic Gary Bettman is. Who didn't see this coming. A great clean hit is a 5 minute major???? What a joke. 3 minors and a major in the first period. They should have put a skirt on that Blackhawk during his nap if they don't want him getting hit. Bettman has to try to rid Crosby and Co. of their biggest hurdle from lifting the cup. Sigh!!!!

Just to speak hypothetically for a moment if I may. Suppose that hit had caused spinal trauma or even death to Marty? I agree your guy meant no malicious intent, but for him to hit Havlat with that force to drop him in such a way, he's honestly lucky it wasn't worse.

That said, he deserved the penalty but not as severe as getting thrown out.

Suppose that skate blade sliced through that hawks neck? Kronwall wouldn't have been any more responsible for what happened to Havlat than whoevers skate did the slicing.

What did he deserve a penalty for? Hitting too hard? That's a slippery slope. Who decides what's too hard? Either it's legal or it's not, and it was legal. The hawks were spotted that lead, the Wings shouldn't have had to work this hard to win the game.

Can't say I'm shocked. That's his 3rd firing, that I know of. Chicago never got the chance to fire him... they pushed him off to GM duties in favor of Darryl Sutter, and Keenan tangled with the VP over it and resigned. He's great at leading his troops to the playoffs, but that's about it. Only one cup out of it all.

Btw, I don't know hockey rules. I just know stuff like that gets penalized in football so I'm relating what I'm familiar with.

Yeah, the Wings couldn't overcome being shorthanded over half the 1st period. If Bettman does that again, he'll run the risk of showing himself as being the joke he is. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Kronwall was suspended multiple games for his legal hit.
Loved the classy fans with the "Detroit sucks" chant. I'd expect as much from Anaheim, disappointing for an original 6 club though.

Hey, at least you're not sore about it or anything. Too bad you guys aren't leading the series. :D

Oh, the chanting is a part of it. Its our thing we did that while beating Vancouver in game 6. It's called a rivalry, not a knitting circle.

Dude, they've been chanting that at all of the playoff games. And so what? They paid to get in and they have that right. I suppose throwing dead sea creatures on the ice is the epitome of class?

That said, there was absolutely no reason to call a penalty for the hit on Havlat, let alone a fucking game misconduct. Havlat made a junior hockey mistake by not seeing that hit coming. He went to play the puck and got smoked. Part of the game and that's a mistake someone with his experience shouldn't make. 4 vicodins and a half bottle of Absolut and he'll be fine.

Nice win Blackhawks fans, may you have no such luck Sunday.

You don't know what you're talking about. They don't did they boo Pronger every time he touched the puck? Yes.
Only other thing you'll hear is "Let's Go Red Wings".... Nice try though.

treetopovskaya wrote:i guess we can now admit that brown's hit on hudler was clean? cause it was. }:C)

No it wasn't. Hudler had cleared the puck and was going off for a line change. Brown saw the puck cleared across the ice and hit him anyway.... Havlat was looking down at the puck between his skates. Kronwall also didn't deliver a head shot, elbows down, skates on the ice. Learn the rules please!

I'd just like to have an unbiased officiated game. The Wings strength is skating 5 on 5 and rolling 4 lines. BS calls like that is a huge setback. Chicago got 60 minutes of offensive opportunity. The Wings basically only got 40.

I just question their IQ.
"Haven't won squat since 1961" accusing "Stanley Cup champs in 4 of the last 11" that were awarded of "sucking". Childish and above all else STUPID!!!

havlat didn't have the puck... he never touched it go watch a replay.

i do know what i'm talking about... i actually go to games & see irl how wing fans act. do you? i'm not saying there aren't classless duck fans... there are & i have seem them too. after game 6 we went to the wedge & there were a group of peeps... a couple of wing fans. one duck fan had such a big annoying mouth i wanted to tell him to stfu. the two wing fans weren't saying anything... nice guys. red you are such a homer. }:C)

hudler released the puck & not even a second later brown hit him. how do you know hudler was going for a line change??? HAHAHAA! why would he? he was passing the puck to the offensive zone. red are you in hudler's head? you should have told him to stop admiring his pass & look up. }:C)

Who gives a shit?!?! He had possession of the puck as it was between his skates. He (Havlat) chose to put his head down and got smoked. That's what made the hit so bad. Besides, Versus commentators Ed Olczyk, Brian Engblom and Keith Jones kept saying Kronwall didn’t leave his feet to deliver the hit. Replay supports that assertion and all 3 hockey experts on ESPN deemed the hit clean. Funny thing...both refs deemed it clean before they realized that Havlat was pretty fucked up. No arms when up as the hit occured or immediately afterward. It was a clean hit and everyone knows it.
