As far as I know, Stu has served honorably. I can't believe someone here would say something this stupid, regardless of what side of the political fence you're on.

Honroably!? with the comments he made? This isnt about what side of politics fence we are on. This is who we are. I also used to think that Stu was a hero , but he just brought himself down by those comments he made. Thats why I was not only pissed but also disspointed and surprised at the same time.

Unless you have evidence that he didn't serve honorably, your comments are disgraceful.

JUST THE FACT THAT HE SAID AMERICAN LIVES ARE WORTH MORE THAN IRAQIS is enough for me.

They are. PERIOD. I joined the Marines to protect AMERICAN LIVES, property and freedoms which are worth more to me than any Iraqi life. Ask a veteran of WW2 or Korea or Vietnam if they think an American life is worth more than the life of their enemies and see what answer you get.
Now if you want to call me dishonorable then do it to my face, I will be in Virgina for the show in May. And at LEAST I had the balls to go and serve my country. Have you?

If its all about having the balls to just go kill people with your attitude, Im glad to say no, and I will never have the balls to sink that low to put down people just cause they were born in a different part of the world.
And when it comes to the Gulf war, you didnt go there to protect AMERICAN lives,,,, you went there to protect Kuwaiti peoples lives from Saddam. Which in this case means you were there, risking your own american life, for people of Kuwait? so do you think that their lives are worth more than american peoples!?
Bottom line is, you cant grade peoples lives based on their origin. there are low lives in every continent/country/state/city/neighbourhood.

No I was protecting American interests, in this case the sovereignty of the Kuwaiti people. But I joined to protect American lives and your rights. It's not about having the balls to kill people you idiot. NO SANE person ever wants to kill another person, it haunts you for the rest of your life. But when it comes down to it, I care more about 1 American life than I care about 100 lives from any other country because THIS IS MY COUNTRY and YOU and EVERYONE ELSE are my people and it is my DUTY.

First of , youre the idiot not me. Just because you had the balls to go over there and kill people over oil which you just admited, doesnt make you a better person than me. Second, as much as you brag about your duty and serving your country, it just makes it seem like you get the most pleasure from just the attention. You honestly think that joining the marines/airforce/army is the only way to SERVE this country?
Out of respect for Carl, I will end this meaningsless discussion with you, cause we'll never see things eye to eye. As long as you think that peoples lives are valued based on geographical locations, you will never make any sense to me, ever.

I can only agree with this.Wholeheartedly.
There are a lot of people who try to be better persons everyday, try to forgive, respect and do everything they can to help those in need....

There's nothing wrong with inflicting punishment for a crime. There nothing "mobster-ish" about it. That's the way it's supposed to work. You commit a crime. You get punished for it. It has nothing to do with the Old Testament, New Testament, or whatever testament.

BTW, that first comment is pretty unnecessary.

First I don't value lives based on geographic location...I just value American lives MORE than any other. As any American should. I didn't have the balls to go over idiot, I was ORDERED to do so, I didn't exactly have a choice, but had the choice be given I would have gone because it was the RIGHT thing to do. The balls I have are in stepping up and serving my country, and NO it isn't the only way to serve, but it is the most HONORABLE because a person who joins our military does so with the knowledge that they may be called upon to sacrafice their lives. Again WHAT HAVE YOU DONE to serve? ANYTHING? Peace Corps?? ANYTHING? I don't crave attention, others comment made me respond. I am VERY proud of my service though. It's a very small group, statistically speaking who serve in our armed forces.
You want to sit in judgement and that's FINE just remember that I, and many others like me served and are serving to ensure you will always have that you have that right to exercise.

You plain and simple want to brag about it, thats all. I serve daily by working 12 hours a day, and by being involved in local charities and even donations to our troops. I dont agree with the war, but our troops didnt have a choice, our leader did. I support them because theyre doing their jobs.
On another note, you dont think a doctor's work saving people's lives is as honrobale? you dont think a teacher teaching our kids right from wrong (which in your case didnt help) is honorable? Any and every person that put their heart and soul in this country, wether its a farmer working from dawn till dusk, or the 16 year old kid that biggie sizes your fries, or the doctor at your local hospital, theyre all contributing in their way to this countries existence. But of course you think YOUR life is worth more than them, cause YOU are the most honorable one of them all.
As I told you before, we wont get anywhere with this, cause you have your way of thinking and I have my own.

I agree with this 100%.

Count me in too..100% agree. That's what criminals do, they break the law, all of them. The bad guys will ALWAYS have the weapons.

Back to topic..My thoughts and prayers go out to these students and their families. I can't imagine what they must be going through both physically and mentally..it will be a long time healing.

I do BRAG about serving my country, it was an honor to do so, and I am very proud to have done so. To quote a fantastic movie..."We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline."

You said you used to think of me as a hero, well in our last exchange on MR you did the same thing you are doing now: Taking a run at me because I was a member of the US Military. It won't work. You lie and lie and lie, and twist my words to suit your agenda. I know where your sympathies lie however, and so does anyone with an ounce of intelligence.

Having a nomral job isn't serving your country, it's having a job. Being involved with local charities and donating to our troops is serving your country and I applaud you for it. But quit trying to put words in my mouth I never said or came close to saying that being a doctor, or a farmer, or any profession isn't honorable. You insinuate I mean something that I don't. Like the geographic thing, I never said, you insinuated or some how derived that it but it just not true.

Look I know you come from middle-eastern roots, Iranian via Sweden if I remeber correctly, I also know what you are trying to do by attempting to smear me. I know you feel I am somehow ripping on your family, your people or faith or what have you. But this is your country now too, or it should be. The lives of your fellow citizens her in the USA SHOULD be worth more than the lives of anyone else.

This thread has gone down the wrong road, myself included. Out of respect to the original intent of this thread, let's either take this to PM or start a new thread. Can we at least agree on that?

On another note, I saw firsthand testimony on CNN from a student who helped barricade a classroom door at Virginia Tech from the killer. The guy broke down on camera. I can't imagine how those students involved in this are feeling.

I watched NBC World News last night and they had 2 students on there talking about it. Might have been the same student(s) you saw on CNN. They were in German class when the shooter came in. They said the guy went through one clip, then reloaded. One of the students was shot in the arm, went to the hospital, and came back and talked on the news broadcast. The one that was shot, his name was Tres (pronounced Tray)...can't remember the other guy's name. They said the shooter left and that's when a few of them barricaded the door, but the shooter tried to get back in. They said he was shooting through the door.

I can't imagine how they're feeling either. The whole thing is so sad. :(

Dude, believe me, I know where your hate comes from, but is it gonna solve any problems? No.
If you gonna have hates towards ALL middle easterns, then youre as bad as the fanatic muslims that hate us.
Its always easy to judge and hate, but a lot harder to SOLVE problems. Unless you start using common sense and be more open minded and less hatefull, you wont be a part of the solution, no matter how many medals of honor you receive.

Those middles easterns who attacked us are a minority of fanatic muslims. They also justify their attacks by saying that they were gettin back at us for the times we have attacked them. and it could (and will ) go back and forth,,, and at the end of the day it wont solve any problems and will only result in lives lost,,, yes even american lives.
Even using YOUR theory, look at Iraq. Why is it even worth it to sacrifce our sons and daughters lives for freedom and saftey of the people that dont even appreciate it?

I'm not a fan of guns and would never own one, but it IS in the constitution that you have a right to carry one. On another note, this guy is a Chinese national here on a student visa. While we're banning guns, why not ban student visas too? the gun is just a tool -- it is the individual who makes the decision to make it lethal. Someone with this guy's mentality could have run over a crowd of people too. Crazy people and criminals do not obey gun laws.

ban student visas? this didn't happen because the guy was korean. it could have been anyone... from anywhere. jesus.

my heart and prayers are with the family of all the victims... i even feel really sad for the shooters family. so sad. }:C((

Behshad, when Stu said "Yup...I hate all Middle-Easterners ", he was being facetious. Note the rolling eyes.

Crazy people and criminals do not obey gun laws.

ban student visas? this didn't happen because the guy was korean. it could have been anyone... from anywhere. jesus.

my heart and prayers are with the family of all the victims... i even feel really sad for the shooters family. so sad. }:C((

Yes, I know that. I was being facetious because banning student visas makes about as much sense as banning guns.

* in her best "mommy" voice*

Behshad? RVR? (Am I missing anyone else?)

* puts hands out and points to the corners of the room*

SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!

(Gods- I can't believe I'm doing this but.....)

This thread NOT ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST! IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MILITARY!

This thread is about 32 young college students that we shot down in the prime of their lives, by some
whacko lunatic!

Pray for their families. Pray for the other students who will live with what they saw everyday for the rest of their lives!

But If you two want to hack at each other- take it to PM- or better yet- start a new thread. There are some of us that are not interested it watching you guys beat each other up.

* takes off mommy hat*

HARUMPFT!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, wine and chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "what a ride!"

"Holier Than Thou"...

God, youy are all a bunch of idiots and NHHs!!!

Behshad and Stu, y'all need to just shut the fuck up already!
Your BOTH great people arguing over silly misunderstandings.
I love both you guys, your exchanges in this thread have had me
choking on my lunch but, C'mon guys.

B, you know Stu ain't that narrow-minded and you should understand that
most folks that have served, especially Jar-Head-Pukes like Stu  ,
are VERY proud of what they accomplished in their careers.
Don't read into things that just aren't there.
Stu has NEVER bragged about serving in the military, he's just proud.

And Stu... I love ya, man. And I fully understand your sentiment on the
importance of American lives as opposed to the rest of the world.
But that's coming from 2 red-blooded Americans here.
We also need to remember that this insanely wonderful Journey Board has
united fans of all kinds of ethnic backgrounds and, if we are the 'family' we claim to
be (dysfunctional to the extreme, no doubt!)
then we gotta respect everyone's views as best we can...
Behshad is a good guy. You 2 are just alittle too pasionate about things to get along sometimes :)

God, I am just in a very happy, peaceful mood today and just want to spread that good vibe to everyone :)

And finally, anyone that wants to make this tragic event a political issue
with 'foriegners' or 'immigrants' is a serious Ass-Clown!
The guy has been a citizen since he was 8 years-old...

Carl, as usual youre right.
I take pride and honor in knowing YOU Carl and you know that I love you like my own brother.
Still I think Stu and I will have difficulties to see things from the same angle.
Lets move on and send prayers and patience to the families of the victims.
GOD BLESS YOU, AMERICA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD.
