in the end it will always be about the music. If they go with a guy who knows the songs inside and out, and has conditioned his voice by singing the material every weekend for 5 years for 3 hours at a time, to most I would think would be a good thing, but then again, there'll always be a fickle minority in any population.

For me, it is not just about the music. It is about whether or not the singer/musician reaches me. Moves me. Makes me feel. When I listen to Steve Perry's voice, it literally alters my brain chemestry and takes me to that place. I can listen to someone else sing the very same song, the very same notes and.....nothing. Journey seems to want to play to people who don't know or care who is singing as long as they get close to the original sound. They will probably do just fine. But don't catagorize those who aren't going along for the ride as "fickle." I know my own heart and will follow it as you must follow yours.

I understand exactly what you're saying Lora. Some of us have been labeled as Perryheads and then later Perryloons for trying to make people understand why just hitting the notes or singing in the same range wasn't enough.

The band obviously intends to continue though with someone singing those songs. I took what Jeremey said to mean that whoever sings for them shouldn't be labelled and judged according to where they came from or what they were doing when they were chosen, but according to how well they do with the band. I thought he as saying the "fickle" ones were the ones that were using his gig as a tribute singer as an excuse to not like him or an insult to him the way some used Augeri's job at Gap.

I threw the job at the turkey farm in there because some of us 'heads or 'loons used to get that thrown in our face as an insult to Perry the way some of those very people are now using the tribute band label as an insult to Jeremey.

You are right about one thing, the survivor cover singer does have a great voice for the most part, but he's absolutely having to scream to get to some of those notes and he won't have a voice if he keeps doing that. If you think that's better than Jeremey, I guess that's your business.

PLEASE Maria don't be nasty & jump all over Jeremey. He is getting punished horribly for taking an opportunity to live out his dream. Most people in his shoes would do EXACTLY what he's doing. If he gets the job, I WANT him to stick around & post. That way, we will once again have access to a member of Journey & be able to maintain contact w/Jeremey. Even if he doesnt get the job, I WANT him to stick around b/c quite honestly he's one of the nicest people who ever posted on this forum (& yeah, I know Augeri was a really nice guy too but he didnt post here) & I REALLY enjoy his points of view on things.
