i didnt know of Bob Geldoff before OR after this .... i only know Paul Young for ...Everytime You Go Away from plains ,trains , and automobiles,, it is a fav of mine still today... reminds me of john candy..
Speaking of John Candy - here's Canada's contribution (JC appears at the very end of this).

I love Neil Young in this - not sure he knows where he is.

wow,, not only have i never heard that song, but i didnt know half of those folks were Canadian.. Burton Cummings is one of fav vocalists,, he made a movie called Melanie with Don Johnson many many years ago.. great flick , GREAT music by him.. anne murry? canadian? .. at the time of this, neil young had a song called.. "aint got no mashed potatoes" not his best tune..
Love Burton, love that Melanie movie. I had recorded it from TV to VHS a long time ago, quality had deteriorated quite a bit. Finally found someone who had burned it to DVD so now I have a good quality copy. I love the part where Burton's playing the piano wasted and naked, singing 'I'm in the nude for love'! He's actually not a bad actor.

Kind of ramdom here, but Bob Geldof starred in the Pink Floyd movie "The Wall". Strange but good.

"Loosely based on the life story of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's original front man (who was kicked out of the band for his bizarre and disturbing behavior only to go insane shortly thereafter), PINK FLOYD: THE WALL stars Bob Geldof as Pink, a mentally damaged man who has gone from a hopeful child artist to a burned-out rock star drifting away from reality. As Pink festers in his hotel room, elements of his abusive childhood come back to haunt him until he begins to descend into absolute madness.

Director Alan Parker's intense and fully realized film interpretation of the English band's classic album THE WALL melds whimsical fantasy with dark Shakespearean drama. The film makes innovative use of sets, costumes, and special effects to create a unique surrealistic strangeness worthy of Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali's UN CHIEN ANDALOU. Both disturbing and bedazzling, PINK FLOYD: THE WALL is a must-see film for any music lover."

He did the Band Aid song first & everything was donated. The recognition from that allowed him to organize Live Aid. Everyone donated their time. Amazing huh?
