Have u heard Arnel speak English at length? If so, please fill us in.

Do u live in Australia? If so, talking about anyone else's accent is way over the top to me. U do realize that u Aussies have a very heavy accent to us yanks, right? I have an Aussie friend & when she's angry & blathering on at top speed I have NO idea what she's saying.

As a southern belle I am offended by that word sir/madam.Image

Oops. I guess since I live in the south now, I need to be more politically correct.

Last time I checked, yes.

I didn't realize

Oh, I wouldn't worry too much there. You are not alone - That applies to the entire female race, weather your green, red, purple, black, yellow, white, or magenta ;-)

Ack! Don't let JSS hear U say that! :P

meh.... Me and all of my 5' self will inform Jeff that the use of the one letter abbreviation has the effect of imploding my head, in person, no less. Yes, I realize this is the net and anything goes (apparently), but c'mon are two more key strokes really that much of a problem?

Now, iffin I can just get him back to town for something other than a little 45 minute set, I can show him the implosion! :twisted: :lol:

Like 2 and 4? :P Well, I surmised many years ago that JSS took the idea from Prince, but I think it's best not to borrow someone else's schtick, ya know? Did anyone else notice that he seemed to quit doing that when he went on the road with Journey, and I haven't seen quite as much use of it in his writing.

As for "chat-speak" as I call it (and the worst form, known as "L33T"), I hate it. I prefer to type in full sentences, and in as proper English as I can muster. I've also noticed that younger kids seem to be spelling even worse than ever, and seem to have very little grasp of our written language. I've asked teachers if "chat speak" has affected kids' abilities to write things such as essays or creative writing projects, and one of them said it really has -- that kids seem to be having a difficult time stringing together complex sentences. Once again, we've give the rest of the world cause to laugh at us... :P

Not really. Ever talk to anyone European? "Chat speak" as u call it became extremely popular over there for text messaging. They were doing a lot of that before it was popular here.

P.S. Did u notice Jeff went back to using "u" again after Journey?

Sure, but they probably still know how to write. :) Text messaging is one of the dumbest forms of communication I've seen, outside of sending someone a text page from a keyboard (those are useful). But having to hit a button several times just to get a single letter is about as silly as it comes. I've found a very few helpful uses for phone-to-phone text messages in certain situations, but for general communication, it's a tremendous waste of time. Technology doesn't always drive us forward. It's crazy how many texts kids can send in just a week -- I've heard parents yell when they get their phone bills to find some kid has sent a few thousand per week.

I have noticed it creeping back. My guess was that Journey or their management told him to chill on the Prince code. Anyway, I don't want to make too big a deal out of it and irritate him.

Took me a minute, but now I see the gift. Could have been in a Journey picture, circa 1978. :shock:

Good lord, looks like one of my daughters text messages. :lol:
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I got this far: rolling on the floor laughing. After that I'm lost. I need to start typing out "you". I'm too old for this lingo.

Haha... Just random keyboard strokes, meant to simulate the inane blather that often occurs in a chat room. :P If anyone wants to try to decrypt it, though, that would be cool! :P Here's a start:

R = Rolling
O = on
F = floor
L = laughing
M =
T =

A =

C =
S =
I =

E =
J = Journey
