Anyone saying the Pens threw Sunday's game is an idiot.
granted, I would HATE to have had a first-round series against
the Flyers but they didn't throw that game. They just got out-played.

The Pens stuck with No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury,
used their top special-team units and played their regulars,
aside from Crosby, extensively. Defenseman Sergei Gonchar
played 29:38, his sixth-highest ice time of the season.

After their last meeting, I don't blame Therrien for sitting Crosby.
BOTH teams were taking a ton of cheap shots and no one more
than Sid. Why take a chance of emotions flaring and him getting
injured on another cheap shot?

And I'm not saying the Flyers are dirty. I LOVE the Pens/Flyers rivalary.
But we know how intense games can get at this time of the year.

Good luck, Flyers!
Here's hoping my Pens don't have to face you later in the
chase... If they get out of the first round they are gonna be
tough to beat

So I am an idiot? Ok, whatever. Did you watch the same game I did? The Pens played like they left the busses running in the parking lot. I don't blame them. A seven game series against the Flyers, while very winnable, would be a potential blood bath and damage them physically for later rounds.

That being said, I hope we do meet up later. It would be a great series!

Sorry.
Didn't mean you.
I was talking more about the
folks in the broadcasting boothes
and the sport writers out there...

Did they play "uninspired" hockey? Sure.
Was it evident that they really didn't care if
they won or loss? Sure.

But if anyone really thinks they threw the game on purpose
to avoid the Flyers...
It's like they say, "If the shoe fits..."

Even though my team made a great run before the end of the season (next year the Oilers will be in the dance.. we just have too much young talent ) I would rather them be healthy and come back in the fall.

At least us Oiler fans have something to look forward to in the future with guys like Ganger, Cogliano, Nilsson and Garon leading the way. Unlike teams like Vancouver, Tampa, Toronto and LA whos near futures look pretty bleak.

San Jose is going to steamroll over everyone in the west me thinks. Montreal could be the team in the East to beat.

There are only two teams I won't cheer for.. Calgary (of course) and the Mighty Sucks of Anaheim. Btw Brian, that top 5 pick you were looking for, well.. guess you better keep looking!

I can't believe I'm saying this as an Oilers fan, but Go Dallas Go. Or at least beat the snot out of the Ducks so they can't make it past the 2nd round!

Jodes, Vancouver has a heap of young talent. Ryan Kessler, Alex Edler, Kevin Bieksa, Taylor Pyatt and Alex Burrows. Loaded. I think Naslund will retire or be dealt, but everyone else is back.

San Jose is going to steamroll over everyone in the west me thinks. Montreal could be the team in the East to beat.

I agree on the Sharks but the east is open. Pittsburgh is talented but maybe not tough enough. Washington is hot as Hell, and New Jersey has that Brodeur guy.

Agreed again. Anaheim can go to Hell.

I hate Dallas but yeah, beat the dicksnot out of Anaheim.

Vancouver may have a lot of young talent, but they have EIGHT UFA's at the end of this season.. Are they going to resign them all?

Next year could very well be a rebuilding year for the Nucks.. Nas gone, Linden gone.. Also have to see how guys like Morrison, Ohlund etc come back from their injuries too.

Oiler fans know that sometimes injuries (especially concussions) can suck the life out of some players. Look at Jarret Stoll last year. He was "the next captain of the Oilers" Great PK guy, wicked shot, great at face offs he was turning out to be a great two way player.. He gets smoked (by a Canuck I believe) comes back a bit too early and gets smoked again.

This year he's absolutely brutal. A shadow of his former self. Now he's an RFA with very little trade value. So now the decision is, do we keep him for one more year or do we cut him loose?

Fuck Montreal. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are a Torontonian and you have the gall to pull for Montreal? Jesus fucking Christ almighty.

If I were there, I would cut your fucking head off, and t off with a slapshot into the back of Ken Dryden's head

I doubt it. They are as loyal as fans as there are in sports. They make Green Bay Packer fans look weak.

Sorry I am to see of your friends poor team choice.
Toronto Maple Leafs are the biggest laugh in the NHL.
I've seen sewer slugs suck less than they do.

I'm way meaner when the puck comes into play.

Wow!...You must have been fairly good to play Juniors. My college roommate played Junior B in a southeastern Ontario town named Cardinal. About 1,000 of the total 1,005 residents would go to the games. Old fuckers without teeth donning quilted flannels, suspenders and chooks would haul their entire clan to the rink. They did a stupid looking foot-stomping dance every time "Cotton-Eyed Joe" would play too...funny stuff. Ever laugh so hard a little pee would trickle out? That's how funny this was. Amazing how everyone in the town rallied behind these kids and every home game was the focal event for the winter. Lots of good fights and we'd always bring a case of Brador back over the border upon return. That was some strong brewski.

I'm stuck at work and will have to watch the Wings- Preds on the gamecast. Not quite as exciting.

Have you made it to any games lately RedWingFan?
I haven't been to one in quite some time but boy do I have some good
