The post game interviews were entertaining, suggesting that the Pens threw today's game. The Flyers have owned Pittsburgh this year. It is all about matchups. I still would worry about having to play them in a seven game series.
Anyone saying the Pens threw Sunday's game is an idiot.
granted, I would HATE to have had a first-round series against
the Flyers but they didn't throw that game. They just got out-played.
The Pens stuck with No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury,
used their top special-team units and played their regulars,
aside from Crosby, extensively. Defenseman Sergei Gonchar
played 29:38, his sixth-highest ice time of the season.
After their last meeting, I don't blame Therrien for sitting Crosby.
BOTH teams were taking a ton of cheap shots and no one more
than Sid. Why take a chance of emotions flaring and him getting
injured on another cheap shot?
And I'm not saying the Flyers are dirty. I LOVE the Pens/Flyers rivalary.
But we know how intense games can get at this time of the year.
Good luck, Flyers!
Here's hoping my Pens don't have to face you later in the
chase... If they get out of the first round they are gonna be
tough to beat
