It's always his music created with Journey that I love. And, actually, it is personal taste. Because even one solo project alone by Steve P. might make a fan happy over a lot of instrumentals. If I was absolutely crazy about Street Talk, I might have picked Steve Perry. But I just really liked it, not loved it. And through Neal, I've become a really big fan of his guitar instrumentals. Abitaman, you're obviously a guy, to be worrying about why Steve Perry's hair is wet or dry out of order in the video. That's a hot video. That would not the the first thought of a female watching that video. Let's just put it in context. If it was Pamela Anderson in that video, would you really have been worried about why her hair was dry and then wasn't and then dry? I thought not.

Besides, I often notice things like that, it just looks stupid.
Seen several movies with stupid mistakes like that, and in a video you can't move onto another scene, cause it is over before it really starts.

Same here on the soft rock station I listen to (Magic 96.7). Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart, and other Journey hits on constant rotation. Almost daily thing. Last time I remember hearing WISYS was 1 morning .... at least 6 months ago. Not saying it wasn't played when I didn't have the radio on.

That was uncalled for..Piano With A View is excellent..Jonathan Cain is an incredibly talented musician. It kills me how some will knock peoples talents because they...1) Don't like them personally due to what they've "heard" about said person without any personal knowledge of them. 2) Will knock them because that style of music is not their cup of tea, ...especially those that haven't got musical ability themselves...some who even appear to be tone deaf. I doubt that any musician on here would knock him on his talent....if his piano playing is not your thing then fine but it doesn't mean he is not a skilled piano player..and apparently he's made a good living at it too.

This is a dumb thread anyway...all 3 are highly skilled musicians...whom ever's work you like the best is all personal preference and doesn't make one superior to the others.

Annie, I love vocals too. But I was introduced by my ex-boyfriend to piano instrumentals a few years ago. He loved all kinds of music, metal, rock, jazz, soul, alternative, you name it. Piano With a View is beautiful. I love Jonathan Cain's instrumental music. Sometimes my mind just needs to be quiet and no vocals to the music is then a good thing or as background music for dinner. Until Neal's solo albums, if anybody would have ever told me I would be listening to instrumental guitar music all the way through, I would have laughed. Beyond the Thunder and Voice, amazing.

IMO, it's a dumb thread due to the rest of the sentence I wrote....music as all art is subjective so a poll about who is best proves nothing but the participants personal preference.

How in the world can you tell what kind of "mood" I am in from type??? I am not in a bad mood at all and for you to say so is out of line as well....I just call 'em like I see them....which usually puts the ones I call to the carpet on something in a bad mood, not me...people get defensive when you call them on their BS...sometimes they get over it once they've given it some thought and sometimes they don't. The question is why are you now getting personal by suggesting that I may be "in a mood"?...maybe a defensive posture due to your joining in with laughter to what was said above about Cain's piano playing? 8)

On solo work alone...Neal Schon all the way. Street Talk was like a "Journey Light" album, but good nonetheless. FTLOSM...mediocre. Cain's solo stuff just lacks any really memorable songs. Neal has Late Night ( an incredible piece of solo work) and Voice (grammy nominated) plus I on U and his other solo projects like Electric World, Pirana Blues etc...which to varying degrees are all fantastic. Neal gets my vote for solo work.
It's All Good...

If he wins, it's only on the strength of Street Talk. FTOLSM is mediocre at best and Against The Wall (songs off of GH+5) blew. I'm still thinking about my answer. All 3 could win in my book.

Initially I didn't care for FTLOSM but it's really growing on me. It's very mellow but Perry's voice sounds so good that it's just too hard to resist.
