There was some chatter on the old BackTalk site a couple yrs ago or so that 'tommy denander' was going to write for SP. Apparently, this guy is some sessions guy who's written/played a lot for others.

later~

From his myspace page:

Tommy Denander
is number 2 on the Billboard album charts with American idol's David Archuleta

No comment.

Well then, that settles it. Denander and Perry must have been taping a new song for American Idol.
What other conclusion can all the loons draw?

Here you go....

http://forums.melodicrock.com/phorum33/read.php?f=1&i=326618&t=326526

This reminds me of an interview Steve did once I think it was on Mark and Brian but a woman called in and thanked Steve for the autograph her best friend got for her about a month ago in Boston where her best friend said Steve was at a club where she was and he got up on stage and sang two songs and then she went over and got his autograph. Steve said to the woman on the call in line "I haven't been to Boston in years. Wasn't me." the woman caller said "She wouldn't lie to me she's my best friend. I have your autograph right here in my hand." Steve then said "I don't know who's autograph you got but it wasn't mine. Sorry I think your friend was had." The caller hanged up rather quickly. :D

It doesn't matter who you are famous or not if you can't tell the whole story why even tell the story at all.... :?:

I have it on very good authority that he will be appearing on Idol the week after next (the week of the 16th). I can't wait to see the threads that pop up.

Hey Larry,

I've been pretty busy with releasing a live DVD and a double CD last year. Now I'm working on my next album, which keeps me from writing more on this forum. I've been lurking though. I thought this Perry news would be a nice find to report, especially since I know who Denander knows himself, so this newssnippet might hold some truth.

If Perry's indeed testing the water, who knows what this year will bring.

Thanks for the nice words about the stuff on my site.

Take care,

Michael

EightyRock wrote:Thanks for pointing out Denander's post. He is legit and has worked with alot of people Perry knows. He wouldn't post something like that if it didn't happen. As far as not saying where and when it happened, maybe Denander was asked not to broadcast the particulars. People have been wanting to know that Perry is singing somewhere besides his damn shower, so good for him. It's good news for once and from a credible source this time.
Andrew could easily confirm this, for the doubters.

Hi all...
I dont post here too often, but if it's true that Steve Perry was singing in front of an audience, then that would just be a positive step for the guy. I think maybe he had some "issues" of sorts and maybe now he is just feeling comfortable with the idea of preforming again, at his own pace? And "if" he is putting out any new material, maybe he is testing that out as well

Dude whatever. Then shut up. most are just sick of this bullshit. Big deal... he allegedly sang. Like with any story, if we don't get any details about it, how are we expected to give a shit about it? If your local news anchor came on and told you something happened, and reeled you in, and then refused to say anything more than "it happened..." wouldn't you turn the station?

Its like the groundhog... Perry allegedly sang something somewhere, so all this means is six more months of madsplash screaming "we'll see".

Until there is a CD of entirely new material* from Perry, I'm not going to believe one single rumor about his "return".

Given those that he works or has worked with, he would certainly know of what he speaks. Before you cast stones, I suggest doing a bit of research first.

Tell 'em Rocker Chic! It wouldn't matter to some of the hard heads on here if SP came to there house and sang right to their face. They'd just say, "well, you can't do it again".

It's so funny that just because there have been rumors for a long while about this, that means that it can't possibly be happening NOW.

It's just gonna be so freakin' funny at some of the doubters excuses and whiny complaints and what they'll be saying when this happens. It'll be a comical good time for all. Some will say, "I didn't say he wouldn't do it, just that you couldn't PROVE that he was going to" Whatever. We'll see.

I should have known this would escalate ;-) I was at work and read that article from Denander, so I posted it and then I had to go home, eat, take a leak and then voila there were 4 pages ;-)

It's a club in LA where the LA session players go to jam. It's mostly guys like Mike Landau, Lukather, David Garfield, John Pena, etc.

I'd dig it. That man's voice goes right through me no matter what he sings. I don't want it to sound like Journey anyway, it isn't Journey's stuff.

I bet you're right, and its pathetic that that happens everytime there's a booger of "info" about Perry. Whoever happens to be mentioned at the same time gets emailed all to hell. Poor Uncle Joe... I bet he gets the worst of it. And I wouldn't even want to see the email box at Fan Asylum.

Thanks for bringing this over - I never see the noticeboard. Happy to hear he his singing....somewhere...even sorta nearby. :) I do remember Tommy Denander talking about meeting SP at a club a few years back and hoping to write/play with him.

Aww man, it's a damn children's album isn't it? :P

I started a thread awhile back about Perry doing something akin to Pooh Corner. Little kids aren't going to be as critical as us so it's a good genre to start a come back with.

To be clear, I was talking about my next album, not Perry's ;-)

I'm afraid my album will be a bit too progressive for Journey fans (progressive as in progressive songstructures, not progressive rock)

Yes it does. It also gets old when we are told that we can't think for ourselves and have to have someone else tell us something isn't true. It's like proving a negative. Exactly how I want to live my life, that's for sure. Just stupid, stupid stupid.
