If he called it something else and put it up at the top it would still be the same forum, but not called Journey, but Jana's right the Journey one below it might be alot less busy. Heck, it was just as busy when it was called the Englebert Humperdink forum.

i got creative & started an OT: Jeff Beck thread, then mentioned neal in it.

i'm cool with OT threads in here as long as they're clearly marked as OT with an informative subject line. subjects like "wow, check this out!" or "does anyone know?" drive me nuts. i refuse to click into them out of spite.

Seems to me Andrew is just wanting people to treat each other with less crude hostility, and no personal jabs to the band. Not saying you cannot disagree with actions or behavior of the band. If I understand correctly:

1. Making jokes about the band members is now off limits (disrepectful).
2. Making jokes about other posters whether in fun or not is off limits (disrespectful).
3. Sexy girl pics are off limits 'cause it offends some of the women here.
4. F-bombs and other "bad words" however are ok 'cause Andrew uses them.

Maybe Andrew needs to clarify then? I didn't read Andrew's requests to be as extreme as what you're laying out. I didn't see anything (unless I missed it?) about banning sexy girl pics. When *I* cringed at it the other day it was because sheesh, can we just have one thread for it? Every two weeks there's a porn thread. Who said the women were offended, though? As long as we ladies, in turn, get to post sexy men pics too, then what's so offensive? And if some ladies are offended, stay out of the designated tits and ass threads. Simple.

The language is one thing, and yeah some people don't use curse words in general, but isn't there a fine line between just cussing versus being crude, hostile and offensive for the purpose of talking down to or hurting someone?

Yeah, but, I think what Andrew's point was, was that nearly every band has these situations within them in some form or another, and the fans have strong feelings about it, and it's ok to discuss it, but can we do so without going on for 20 posts in every thread about Neal's 22 wives and Cain's ficticious homosexuality, AND without attacking each other in a harmful way.

Speaking displeasure of actions they have taken as a band is one thing..going on and on with things like " friga is gay" and on and on about peoples personal relationships and lifes..or bringing any of their family members into it is another. I think Andrew would just like a little more respect done in that regard..cut out the childish degrading of people....but I don't see where he meant that people couldn't voice their opinions on what the band has done as a band in the past or the present. I think that discussion can still go on...but just keep it a tad more civil with each other when discussing....that when someone disagrees with someone elses opinion they don't go totally off on them and call them every name in the book is all I see he's asking for.

I for one must agree with Andrew,
It was always fun coming here, even when the lip gate was going on (ok maybe not as fun then), but for a while it has gotten so negative, it is a pain to even read.
I was like if you dislike Journey so much or any of the band movers, leave...
Now maybe that will happen.
Don't mind if soemthing you don't like, they have done things I ahven't like, But I would have my say and move on

No need to keep trying. Just pointing out there's double speak. In another thread comments are made saying Stevew2 gay jokes (even if not about Friga) are disrepectful (act getting old) but over here you say go ahead and use all the profanity you want 'cause that's ok.

And bad language is also part of this site - myself included sometimes - just keep it respectful.

I don't care how people write, talk or if they're gay or not but to say one thing's disrepectful while condoning the other is hypocrisy.

As for the band members, as if I care what they think of message board comments. That's part of the deal when you seek fame and fortune.

I'll be the first to point out that a fan getting Steve Perry's medical info from his doctor is stalker behavior but a few lame jokes about the band isn't even close to it.

I agree with the respect part, but respect isnt something that is given to anybody and everybody just for the hell of it. Respect must be earned. Besides the gay and divorce jokes, I dont see any reason why a fan shouldnt be allowed to express and explain their thoughts and opinions about/towards the band members , with or without respect...
