Hey Rick.....please let us know if there is an online site set up where we can make donations.

Gayle, you're amazing. Nothing of that sort has been initialized as of yet. If that does happen, I'll certainly post it here.

Thank you so much. Image

Rick, sorry to hear about your friend. Seems so many senseless accidents as of late. The one that took my teacher friend, and yesterday a bus was hit here. It was full of mentally and physically handicapped adults. 5 were killed. The guy who hit them was going 100 miles an hour into oncoming traffic. Dan had cared in the past for one who died. I found out about it because my preacher called me and asked if my Dan was in the accident. I panicked and called his work, thank goodness he picked up the phone. It could have just as easily been him!

Three of the victims were mentally and physically handicapped. Some more were injured.

I understand your feelings about your friend, I will pray for him, his family, and for you. :D

Thanks Ginger.

I read a post on Facebook today that said this:
Jeff Warner wrote:Update on Jerry: Moved fingers and toes.. Smiled.. Sister asked if he smiled and to squeeze her hand if he did.. He squeezed her hand hard and smiled .. Things are looking good..Still a long road, keep up the Prayers...

I also read that his body temperature was slightly elevated. The doctors said it wasn't a fever, but are watching him closely for any signs of infection.

These doctors at Parkland hospital in Dallas are amazing. That hospital has been around since the late 1800's.

An update:

I heard that Jerry was to be released from the hospital today. That would have made his stay there 18 days. That's an amazing thing considering the condition he was in when he was admitted. As was posted on the blog, he sustained several injuries in the accident that each on their own could have been fatal.

Jerry lives in Iowa and commutes to work at DFW, so he will be staying with a friend in this area so he can attend rehabilitation sessions.

It's uncertain whether he will ever return to work, but if his progress to this point is any indicator, and he has the desire to, I'm sure he will, and I look forward to that day.

Thanks again for all of the prayers and well wishes.

Hey Rick, thanks so much for the update! I was thinking about your post the other day, and was wondering how he was doing. I'm glad to hear he's making so much progress, and wish him a speedy recovery!

Oh Rick, That is such good news. I'm so happy for Jerry, his family and friends. It truly is a miracle he survived. God bless all the doctors and nurses who worked so hard to help him pull through.

I had seen these pics on the blog Rick. It is amazing Jerry survived. Did the cab of the pickup actually get knocked off the frame? It looks completely shifted out of place compared to the bed.

I'm not sure, but it looks that way. I didn't take these pictures, a friend emailed them to me. Very amazing, yes indeed.

Yes. I've said it I don't know how many times, and if it isn't prophetic, I don't know what is, but when people ask me why I smoke or engage in other bad habits, my usual response was something to the effect of, "I could quit smoking and drinking today and walk outside tomorrow and get hit by a bus."

Kind of makes you think a bit.

Thanks for the update Rick. I hope Jerry's therapy is progressing well. Nice picture by the way. You're way better looking than Jim Carrey. 8)
