I agree it can be pointless, but I'm digging it and he seems to have that chemistry with Schon....and I think if we examined 50 random crowds from the past 2 years and 50 random crowds from the previous 8 years we'd come to the conclusion that the crowds are much more into it now. I'm confused about your last point...Journey is touring mostly alone this summer? The 2 dates I'm interested in they are solo. And I think Augeri/JSS/Arnel have all built the crowds up. I've seen them get bigger and bigger each summer (excluding 2002 and 2004). 2005 they averaged 6,800 ALONE...and I think thats tremendous these days in an era where kids aren't as stoked about shows as we were/are. I know it was a triple bill last year, but they sold out 60% of the shows...whereas Arrival really struggled in most markets. I went to a sold out show last year (well in advance) in the same venue that drew about 30% capacity for Arrival.

They'll fill more seats and make more money by hooking up with another act. The last information we have on how well Journey fills venues by themselves is from 2005. A lot has changed in the musical and economic climate since then. Maybe they could draw well without another act, but we simply don't know. It's been four years since they tried.

I'll give you the economic climate...but you're going to have a hard time proving that the musical climate is that different from 4 years ago.

Even so, before the economy crashed, Journey was having a hard time filling seats without the help of Heart, Def Leppard, Styx, REO, etc.

Sadly, it's become a conundrum of most touring acts to rely on co-headliners (masquerading as opening acts). But the fact remains that a good, solid act can do it alone...EVEN in this economy....and Journey couldn't do it alone when the market was 14000. So really, Arnel's not bringing anything that's significantly different to the table than the other two replacement singers brought....unless you consider that his stage moves are pitiful and his diction is pretty bad...

Jeremey confirmed that it was around 750K not too long ago. He gets royalties so he will have an accurate count. Didn't the band also say 750k during there press conference in Sweden? The album has sold around 30-50K overseas if you go to all the international charts sites and try to add it up. Most of Eorope requires at least 1Ok sales for Gold status and Japan requires 100k for Gold, but Journey didn't hit these levels anywhere overseas except the Philippines, where they attained Platinum Status with 20K sold.
We had a thread a few days ago talking about Wal-Mart no longer providing the hard copy package on their website. Revelation isn't going anywhere else sales wise unless Journey pays out of pocket for additional printings.

Album sales and chart success don't really equate any more. Cyrus, Clarkston and other singers are having multiple hits on the HOT 100 charts but their album sales are down. it's there digital single track downloads which are through the roof. There are a number of artists either at or fast approaching 4 million downloads for one song.

As far as the relevance of the Adult Contemporary charts, REO Speedwagon's last album had two songs in the A/C Top 25 yet that album didn't even chart in the Top 200.
They still managed to sell out the NOKIA last month with Styx. New album sales totals from old rock groups are over rated when judging their capabilities to draw concert goers, it appears. Just look at U2's numbers for their last release, albums sold VS stadiums sold out. Big, big difference.

They are actually going pretty quickly back into the studio for a band that is doing a tour both years. Revelation came out last May and they're going back in the studio end of this year after their tour is over, with the album probably out the first part of next year. I call that pretty damn fast.

If they were smart about it, they should do everything possible and do whatever it takes to Persuade SMFP for 1, 2 or even 3 months or however long it takes, to write and record their next CD. Then Perry would not have to tour and he can go home and sit back and COLLECT, as sales would be soaring towards Mars as long as the right marketing procedure was taken. AP and Journey could start working on those songs while inputting the select songs they want from the new SMFP CD into their upcoming tour. Perry's voice would be lower to mid-range anyway, and besides, isn't that the one untouchable item he's held to as a legacy all these years. With less stress on those songs, it would save AP's voice for another year and isn't that what there doing with AP now anyway.

Red Rocks and other places will be packed to see Journey with Heart or with Night Ranger or by themselves b/c they're a great band with great music and people want to see them. Neal likes to tour and so does the rest of the guys and they are doing what they love to do, playing music. So sorry you don't approve.

The reviews at that concert by the metalheads who were there was overwhelming postive and great. You've been told by others here the sound mix was messed up on the concert video, but not live. Since my friends who weren't sold on Arnel so didn't go last year called me and said they thought he was amazing and are now going to see a concert this year, they must have missed the trainwreck for all to see. Sorry, the band was only too ready to say how Arnel made them an international band. They toured Japan, South America and Europe with Augeri but now they're an International band? Seems like they're playing up his ethnicity more than anyone. Does he not make a separate acknowledgement of his pinoy fans at every show. If he keeps it front and center then its got to be alright for us to mention that particular fan base. You can't have both ways-Treat me like everyone else but let me promote my pinoy pride also.
