ok, so given this lineup, what setlist WOULD make you want to buy a dvd? Serious question. Make it 20-25 songs--ie full show.

It won't matter. There are a few here that are sour / mad at the band and are not coming back. That's clear and that's their perogative. There is also a small faction that got burned out on all the cheerleading.

I know. I'm just curious.

Dean will give props where they are due. That is for sure. And his criticisms are always justified, unlike some who got bent out of shape with random things throughout the years. So he certainly does not have sour grapes, but he'll tell you what he thinks. He even offered suggestions on the setlist already, saying that if Journey started to do this he might be back as a fan.

Actually, I think the setlist is extremely solid for this DVD (I haven't watched it yet, so I can't comment on the performances). Seven from Revelation, plus Keep On Runnin', Still They Ride, When You Love A Woman, Mother Father and Edge Of The Blade. Not bad at all.

Fair enough, but if you say this and it's true, why not do it every night? It seems they know they are going to record, and put in a little extra effort. Geez, just think if they did this every show? It might just keep the tour semi exciting.

Still don't get the excitement really, but who am I to rain on the J Boy parade?

No, I hear you - and it's certainly a valid question. It probably has to do with the whole cater to the casual fan or the die-hard fan issue. But like I've said, I really felt like Journey tried extremely hard to meet expectations of both groups recently as the Revelation Tour wound down, re-working the greatest hits and mixing in rarities like One More, Higher Place, WCTNGOF/Patiently throughout the tour. They can't abandon the greatest hits. But to bring in these songs and re-work the hits it shows, in my opinion, that they are trying. That's got to get some props.

I think people are going in there thinking this will be like Revelation's release or the current one for Foreigner. It's totally different from that. They're not going to screw up Foreigner's Promo by flooding the place with concert cutouts for Journey. Journey had their moment last year with the big media blitz. This isn't supposed to be the same thing.

Seriously? A greatest hits show does not make a great concert, IMHO. So you leave out Lights, BGTY, WCN and maybe even OA. Make it a dirty 7 + other songs. Leave the fans wanting more..leave the fan who follows them around(if there are any longer), seeing a different show the next stop on tour. Always play about 6 to 9 different tunes each night. Like I said, the kind of fan I am, would much rather hear, or let me put it this way...I wouldn't mind hearing Mother Father in place of Lights or WCN. I wouldn't mind hearing MOL instead of SW. Throw in some eye openers- Can't Tame the Lion, or maybe City of the Angels. Be eclectic, be innovative, take chances! Who wants fans who are so close minded they have to count out the Dirty Dozen or the show sucks? Fuck that. This band is good enough- I just want them to prove that they are. Show us your creativity. Show us your talent. Hell, I have said this for years; take requests. Take sign requests. Play any song in your catalog, except Can Do.

Oh and as far as me buying the DVD? The day they refund me the money they charged me on a fraudulent tour in 2006, I will gladly give them a chance.

I didn't buy it expecting better....I bought it for a different experience. I'm not stuck in the 80's. I once took a psychology in women class just to help me understand. One thing I did learn is that women live more in the past than men, especially when they are over 45 years old. If you were to take the average demographic of a loon, this lesson I learned would prove my teacher correct.  :P

He already reviewed it on page 2 of this thread. Sometimes ya gotta read the whole thread. :D :D :D

Based on the numbers in this poll, maybe I should have just added a "I won't buy" option. I have no way to tell how many have not been able to / not gotten around to it yet, vs. those who won't buy it.

Don't have it yet, but will get it next time I'm brave enough to enter Wal-Mart. I was brave and went Friday and got Foreigner's new one, I think I can make it again, lol. No Manila DVD's out then. Big display though for AC/DC.

I want it mainly for Deen's singing, and also a friend told me What I Needed, Where Did I Lose Your Love, and Turn Down the World Tonight are on there, all of which I would have loved to hear live the couple shows we caught this year, but nooooo they couldn't do them then

Well all I can say to Wal-Mart is DAMN YOU NEED AN IQ TEST ON THESE RETARDS YOU HIRE!!! I laughed while I read all of the horror stories about the trips to Wal-Mart. That is... until I tried to go to one! Long story short, I was told....

1. "It doesn't have that release date at OUR store... That only applies to certain stores".

2. "We don't get those new releases until their out for a month or so".

3. "If it says 2009/10/06 on the box... THAT's when we release it!!!"

4. "We haven't got those in yet, but we did get the new KISS cd" (Which isn't SUPPOSED to be out until the 6th! I bought it. ).

5. "Obviously Journey or whoever they are, made a mistake on their website!"

Please excuse my language on here, because I'm sure I'm going to use some right now... Those people are complete and utter fucking retards!!! I went through the ENTIRE ordeal with 5 Wal-Marts before I finally had success at the 6th. I called corporate headquarters, and was told that there was nothing they could do. They told me to contact the regional manager... of course he was OFF for 2 days, and left nobody else in charge! :x

I told EACH Wal-Mart the deal, showed the managers EACH a link to Wal-Mart's website showing the real release date... None of them would look for it, or sell me the fucking thing!!! I was told "Obviously they just put the wrong release date on the website"! I honestly thought I was going to hurt someone this weekend.

The funny thing was, one of the stores that refused to sell me the damn thing, had a big-ass display of KISS-"Sonic Boom". The sign said "As advertised". How fucking ironic! I bought it immediately, and thought about reporting them to corporate, but I just let it go...
