The songs are on Youtube.

In some cases parts of the songs are missing. The only thing that bothers me about Tantra is the line "Tantra watch over me".. Tantra is not an entity and does no watching. Kali might watch over someone, but tantra is a system.. it is Tantra (Sanskrit: तन्त्र , "loom, warp"; hence "principle, system, doctrine", from the two root words tanoti "stretch, extend, expand", and trayati "liberation"), anglicised tantricism or tantrism or tantram, is the name scholars give to an inter-religious spiritual movement that arose in medieval India, expressed in scriptures (called "Tantras"). :!:

I don't think it was an error, but an intentional use of personification. That sort of thing is fairly common.

But in this context personification is totally wrong. That is the point of the system to lose oneself, ego and become enlightened and free from personification. Jon, Jon... tsk tsk

Jon? I'm lost. He, according to my wife, is the sexiest man in Journey. Is she blind?

My girlfriend thinks similarly. To be fair, he still seems to be in fantastic shape for his age.

He, in the end, might become the most important and influential band member. Think about it. The guy definitely has his shit together.

Again, I know he is awesome, creative, a good guy, sexy and talented, just disputing his knowledge of the matter at hand. I think in his own Catholic way he may feel that Tantra can be invoked, however it is simply not so. If the point of the song is to enlighten us about Eastern Religion, then he is presenting it in a way that does not prove his point. I know, artistic license  Mon Dieu...

I thought it was just Cain mentioning that Pineda wanted to do more Arrival material live. Does it say somewhere that they said they wanted to re record that album?

That's what I took from it too; Arnel wants to sing Arrival material live. Who can blame him? It's a great album and is my favorite Journey offering.

Sounds like what a Sony A&R hack would say. Many of Journey's best songs (ex. Just the Same Way, I Can See it in Your Eyes) fade out right when Schon's getting started.

First of all, an album B-side is one of their best tracks ever?

Second of all, at any rate, the comparison to songs like JTSW, WCN, and the like is flawed. AIP already has 2 EXCELLENT big solos at the beginning and middle of the song and 1 mini solo after the first chorus before that minor key wankery comes in and changes the whole feel of the song. The former songs don't already feature Neal prominently.

I'm a guitar player and am no enemy of long, progressive songs and jams. But it just doesn't work there and shoulda been cut. Neal had plenty of time to show off what he can do in the song before that. It doesn't fit.

It's a great CD for me. The end result for me is:

LOVE:
Chain of Love
Resonate
To Whom It May Concern
Edge of the Moment

LIKE:

City of Hope
Anything Is Possible
Human Feel
She's A Mystery

OKAY/So-So:
Ritual
Someone
Tantra

I dig the CD after all this time. Still stands toe to toe with Revelation in key moments.

Haven't listened to it in about a month. Much like Revelation I don't have the urge to listen to it because there are only a couple songs on it that I like and thanks to Itunes I can listen to those songs at any time without having to listen to most of the filler.

On a side note I still listen to Generations a decent amount of time. If you subtract about 4 songs off Generations you've got a killer album.

Yes. Many of Journey's lesser known tracks are better than the dozen. Not sure why this is surprising.

Frontiers
Escape
Arrival
Evolution
Raised On Radio
Revelation
Infinity
Departure
Generations
Trial By Fire
Journey
Look Into The Future
Eclipse
Next

That's my order right now. Eclipse is not good. It's boring and many of the songs run together. Lyrically, it seems to me like they were trying too hard to make something really profound, and that's just not what Journey is all about. Musically, it sounds like Neal was hot to prove that he could fit a solo or three into every track.

I went to the St. Louis show in July and it was awful.

It really pains me to say this because I have been such a big Journey fan for years and years, but I wish now that they had just hung it up either after Steve A. left, or at least after the Revelation tour.

Fair enough, especially after seeing you rate Revelation so well.

Yes, I really liked several of the songs on Revelation. I figured I'd take some heat for that post. I appreciate the response. I'm not trying to be critical for criticism's sake, just trying to be honest.

Np, man. I mean, I can't deny that I disagree with you entirely on your assessment of the album. Eclipse features more compelling and sophisticated writing than most of the Perry-era, the production and musicianship is on par with Trial By Fire, and the vocals are as good as anything Perry did post-1986 as far as I'm concerned.

Overall, it's their strongest album in my book, hovering with a score of around 82%.

I'm with you after seeing them at the start of August, man. I typically enjoy seeing my favorite bands play regardless of lineup changes or how old they are. But, this was the first time I saw one of those said favorite bands in concert and walked away going "man, it really IS time to hang 'em up."

still like it... not top 5 as favorite... but love Human Feel... just hits me in a great way while listening to the song... now classic way too soon... if your still listening in 30 years... then repost.... Infinity and Evolution are still best LPs from front to back... bar none... Escape and Frontiers are that way too...but since I am OLD school journey fan... pre Cain... give me the infinty and evolution sound...anyday... its less popy and more just really good rock... and I will say that Arrival is actually a classic... as it sounds better with age...

just saying...
