I'm gong to throw out my opinion on the various lawsuits. I think they will be settled out of court. The bottom line is that nobody is benefiting from the current state of thing. It is going to be YEARS before this works itself out in the courts. Just for the Nightmare trademark filing, it was scheduled to last until late next year.,,and it is delayed until after the courts decide who owns the Journey mark (Nightmare or Elmo). It will probably be four years before this is all worked out.

So, Journey releases a single. So what. It's obviously not on a label. It will be download only. That is what Journey is reduced to? A has been band who has no real ability to market their music?

While Journey is not active, Nightmare gets nothing. As far as I know, they do not have any other artists they are contracted to. Do they? I'd like to know. So, the state of things puts them dead in the water, too.

So, neither is really benefiting and both should want this to end so they can start generating income again.

Not sure what a compromise would look like...maybe allow Nightmare to have their current board - without Neal and Jonathan as members. Allow Journey to continue as they are, without Ross and Steve Smith. Make it clear that Nightmare owns the Journey mark and that "Journey Through Time" can no longer exist as a band. Allow Elmo to use the Journey mark, but it mast be reviewed and voted on by Nightmare yearly to allow it to continue.

If they do not do something like this, IMO, Journey is over.....Neal's lawsuit will continue until he and Jonathan are in their mid-70's.

I think that Neal should have every right to use the name "Journey Through Time." It's pretty ridiculous that anyone at all would try and stop him from doing that.

But if he can't use that name, then he should just continue on with the guys from JTT and call it something else.

I don't think so, at all. Neal was making this into an alternative to Journey. It was absolutely a threat to the brand. Nightmare had a very real reason to contest it. If you do some research, they contested other companies for the very same reason. Nightmare is obviously very protective of the Journey brand.

But if he can't use that name, then he should just continue on with the guys from JTT and call it something else.

I think if he renamed it to not include "Journey", did not advertise it in a way that looked like a Journey concert, then I doubt there is anything Nightmare could do to stop it.

I wonder if anything new with Journey is being held-up legally. With all the lawsuit schtuff from earlier this year, there might be some sort of injunction in place barring "anything Journey" until it's decided who owns the name & trademark and who holds a licence to use it. I mean, can NS/JC really do anything if Nightmare is questioning their legal rights? Just a quik thot.

Schon posted the other day that the release was being held because of a change in management. No other details.

I’d GUESS based on the posts I’ve read that something has been resolved and the new management is official.

Merck Mercuriadis sure didn’t last long. I wonder what made them want to move on to someone else already?

They keep saying new music is coming but then we keep waiting, I'm starting to wonder if they even have new music to release all.

If Journey doesn't want to tour in 2021, they should make a second album in 2021. Then tour alone as Evening With Journey in 2022 and have a lot of new material to play! Two albums with this lineup would really establish it.

That would be my preferred route for them to go. Record 2 new albums before hitting the road again.

October and November are the months that bands usually want to release a new album if they are hoping for big Christmas sales.

That may have been true when CD's were selling by the millions...I don't think that's quite as true in the MP3 age. I doubt that it matters so much.

And, BTW, why do they "have to wait" until November?

The way I heard it had to do with the change in management.

Neal says he is pushing for a diverse record like Escape. Yes! This is what Journey is supposed to be. They can rock and they can do ballads and everything in between. Sprinkle the ballads in there and they will be a refreshing break until they rock again. However, too many ballads weighs the album down. So, a good mix is essential.

Neal says Journey will tour Late 2021. Touring is where the money is made. So, Journey will be on the road in October and November 2021! (Since it will be cold out, they will have to go to indoor venues. I haven't been to the new Little Caesers Pizza Arena yet. A Journey concert with their new lineup would be cool if it were there.)

NS on Eddie Trunk show this week. Talks about new lineup, pending lawsuits, and finishing new music via distanced recording. Says the new music is ESCAPE-esqe. 13 songs, maybe release one every month or so in 2021. (New Q-Prime Mgt suggested delaying the initial release date.) Tour later when/if COVID norms change.

NS also talks a lot about EVH, his tech innovations, tours, back stage, etc. Really cool.
The Trunk Nation show closes with NS playing on a cover of "Aint Talkin Bout Love". (Linda Perry vocals.)
Check it out. SiriusXM ch106.

Done. As mentioned by others, management wants music delayed to early next year. That's fine. At least Neal is attempting to keep fans in the loop.

Again, I have to say that it appears that Schon has decided that we never need to hear his solo album. I'm referring to the one that he made with Michael Walden.

He also has at least two other solo albums recorded besides the one with Walden.

This post is months old. Your attempt to reengage in conversation with me is as obvious as it is lame. And this is the Journey board, not the Trumpstain thread. You bowed out of that thread months ago when challenged repeatedly about your endless Trump cheer-leading.

In your own words - take it to PM or email.
