Oh wait...this issue does not come out until Friday. Heard the Top 10 on Good Morning America and assumed the issue was on the stands. Surely there will be some journey tunes.....

The local newspaper this evening had the first 175...no Journey to be found... :?
1. Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan :?
2. Imagine - John Lennon
3. Satisfaction - Rolling Stones.

Good to know though that ABBA is in there with "Dancing Queen," :? And Prince had "When Doves Cry" and "Little Red Corvette."
Aerosmith - Dream On
Elton John - Your Song
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

There are plenty of good tunes and LOTS of crap...where are you JOURNEY!!!??? :?

"More than 200 of the top 500 were recorded in 1960s and 144 came from the 1970s"

People can scoff at ABBA but 400 million albums sold = Scoreboard.

Rolling stone is only good for two things. You can either wipe your ass with it, or they can roll it up and use it as a suppository. They are so jaded they wouldn't recognize true talent if it flew up their collective asses. People, please do not use what Rolling Stone says as a useful gauge of anything important.

They've been dissing Journey for a long time and did I say that Dave Marsh is a waste of oxygen?

Call me the devil, but that top 50 list actually looks pretty accurate to me. Of course there's no Journey in the top 500 RS songs though - It's Rolling Stone magazine!

I don't know why they do this annually, it's not like anything from the last 15 years has crept into the top 100.

They have a clue in one sense - an agenda - two or three of their Journalists in the 80s did not like Journey - or Rush for that matter or soft rock in general - Journey never had a chance really - probably pissed them right off by having a number one album and a massive tour and a huge MTV gig......you can't win everything.

The fact that Journey were never darlings of the critics just made them more likeable to me...........................

Ok, it does not bother me that Journey has no songs on the list. HOWEVER (as much as I am sick of the song), given the fact that DSB has had such a cultural rennaisance and is the top most downloaded (legally) song, I am a little surprised that DSB did not rank SOMEWHERE on the list. This is, after all, Rolling Stone Magazine which now caters to flavors of the moment and pop culture.

Sorry. I should've said something like:

"biggest-ever catalogue song on digital platforms.

First made available through Apple's service in April 2003, it is the first catalogue song - meaning a song released in the pre-digital era, but later re-released through the iTunes store - to exceed sales of 2m, according to statistical powerhouse SoundScan."

And quickly approaching five million downloads, the winner is.....

Look at the date of this thread - it was bumped from 2004.

This thread was from before DSB's big comeback.

Bulletboys - Smooth up in ya

Mom
Whoa

I know you really want to move me
You know I like to see you try
I've said it before and I'll say it again
You're not not trapped if you don't let me in

Looks like you're the hard kind
I ain't got that kind of time

Oh I send shivers

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(In ya)

You say I'm never gonna break ya
But we won't know until we try
So now's the time to make up your mind
I'll never ever be the one woman kind

Don't let your lovin' go to waste
All it takes is just one date

Oh I send shivers

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(Smooth up in ya)

Smooth up in ya
(I wanna go, I wanna go)
Smooth up in ya
(Right now, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah)

Oh oh oh
I wanna go
I wanna
I wanna go

Oh yeah yeah yeah, don't let your lovin' go to waste
Oh honey child, I'm gonna give you a taste

Whoa I send shivers

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(Smooth up in ya)

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(Said it before and I'll say it again)

Smooth up in ya
(Whoa)
Smooth up in ya
(Whoa I really wanna go)

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(I really wanna go)

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
(Yeah, yeah)

Smooth up in ya
Smooth up in ya
