I would like to hear Journey record some songs with some string arrangements in them again. Neal's dad used to contribute this kind of work to the band. The song Little Girl off of D A D showcased a very nice violin sound in it. Also When You Love a Woman. There are more just can't think of them off the top of my head right now.
Just curious if anybody else enjoyed this aspect of Journey's music. Would this be a step forward or do you feel that this sound is a bit outdated?
To me it brings a classiness to the music that is timeless. Just my opinion.

Well, I am one of the fans who wants Journey to ROCK more. So I think it would be a step in the wrong direction. But their past work with orchestration has been beautiful. TBF has a lot of strings on it. Dream After Dream is full of them too. I agree that Neal's dad did a great job.

Absolutely loved it! WYLAW especially was stunning...the video one of my favorites!!

You can have string arrangements and still 'rock'. "One More" is a great example. It would be interesting to hear more of that direction.

I love D A D, esp. Little Girl. I think that song is the most emotional song Journey has ever recorded, with Mother, Father being #2. When I was a teenager, I made sure to include Little Girl on mix tapes I would make for my girlfriends to show my tender side! LOL

Dream After Dream was an AWESOME album! The instrumentals are breathtaking. I think if Journey could do more of these and ROCK at the same time, the music would be amazing.
Neal's dad was quite talented.
This kind of music can NEVER go out of date. Very classy and timeless music, to be sure.

I never really ever cared for Dream after Dream. To abstract for me, at least at the time. I too want Journey to rock, but nothing wrong with throwing 1 to 3 slow songs in-ERIC
