They are hit or miss. With Yes, they are so technically great that a symphony doesn't add to it.
I liked the Kiss Symphony disc if only because they put the entire symphony in makeup and played the rare gem "Great Expectations".
You know what's so funny? I haven't popped in a tribute CD of any kind for a few years, until after I posted this. I was looking for a CD I haven't listened to in a while to jam to while I worked out, and total coincidence -- sitting there was a pile of CDs a friend just gave me a week ago. In it was a KISS tribute CD called "Spin The Bottle -- an All-Star Tribute to KISS", so I popped it in -- some of it is not bad! Killer version of "Detroit Rock City" w/Dee Snider on vox and Doug Aldrich on axe! It has a making-of DVD with it, and I'll have to watch it.
