Idea..prelude to tour

Journeyjester wrote this a long time ago, in a different thread. I like the idea.

Also, how about this idea; Captured II: 1998 - 2005 ??

The band should have done this and released it in say, January. That way, they could have harnessed all the kickass media attention, and multiplied the fan base, re-energized them as well. "Captured II" man that would have been a pisser.....

Monker? weigh in, dude.

Yes it would, but not in no way to start anything, wouldn't that have to go thru Perry, since it would songs written by him on it? Don't think they would be able to do that, with out his say. But it is a kickin idea, and the timing is (was) great!-ERIC

Eric, I think the idea is to only record music from 1998-2005 on the CD. If it were to inclde music from before 1996 than YES, it would have to go through Perry. And we already know that there is an agreement that Journey will NOT record anything from the Perry era with this lineup. The Arrival DVD was a ONE-TIME special agreement which allowed Perry more control of the BTM episode.

I think Deano is right that the timing of such a release with the WOF buzz would have been great! Since they did not have a new release ready they certainly could have filled the time with a live release! Unfortunately Journey would have only had 2 songs from RED13 and 13 songs from Arrival to choose from. What if there was not a "good enough" recording of some of the tracks? It would have been difficult to really represent the band. But I think "ReCaptured" would have been a very good marketing tool!

Here's my idea: I don't like the sticky threads. Threads should be at the top because people are replying to them, not because someone made them a sticky! That's my only thought on the subject . . . .

OF COURSE it is a good idea....ANY release around the WOF time would have been great. It's just one more missed opportunity.

It DOES sound like they are going to release a video of this tour though...but, that has been said for a VERY long time.

 I realize this is purely speculation and a bit off topic, BUT, do you think Journey has chosen a NEW label for this much anticipated NEW CD? And if so, will this new label be successful in getting Jourrney back on the charts?

And please don't tell me the guys aren't concerned with charting anymore, because I believe they've worked very hard to get this point and this new release will prove it.

Well John, we KNOW that Journey was shopping for the best deal. We also know that Journey is going with Frontiers as a part of a package with Soul SirkUS for Europe.

I think Journey probably has a deal in the works but does not intend to announce anything until after the CD is finished.

As for charting, Journey would LOVE to be on the charts. And Jon has said he wants a hit for Steve and Deen. But if Journey was not to chart, I don't think Journey will lose much sleep over it. The only concern would be how much money they put into a possible "chart position" if they were unsuccessful.

You are absolutely correct. I wasn't trying to make a "sticky" question, Hell, I don't even know what that is all about. I did try though, to include a "poll" but the damned thing didn't cooperate...Sorry.
Andrew, feel free to drop this from "sticky status."

It's quite simple. Edit your post and unselect the "sticky" option. Change it to "normal".

Happy now all you whiney bitches?? Just kidding. Thanks for the help. Now, I cannot seem to get the poll to work, and no, I am not retarded.

So NC, could you unstick the Rolie vs Cain thread?

Since it was a poll, I figured I'd leave it stuck for the time being. However, seeing that you want it gone (and that the board seems to have a general aversion towards sticky threads), I will do so.

It looks to me like you just hit "post a new topic" and down at the bottom they have a place to create a poll. Then if you want it to be sticky you click the sticky box--but I don't like the stickies. There should be no stickies! Actually the polls are usually not very good because people give very biased possible replies. It's like how many times did you beat your wife today, Mr. Jones: one or two.

I did exactly what you said LAWoman...It doesn't appear too difficult, but somehow I cannot get it to post a poll. I wasn't looking for an argument either. :D

I don't get what you are doing wrong--I created a test one. Try it again.
