PROPERRY wrote:I find that Neal has a very poor memory of the past 7 years of HIM bashing Perry publicly. Neal looked like a "big hypocrit" standing there with his arms draped around Perry at the WOF.
I don't believe it has anything to do with his memory...I am pretty sure it only means that Neal has put it behind him.
PROPERRY wrote:It is clear that Neal only invited Perry to sing with Journey in order to make HIMSELF look good in front of all the fans & media.
Clear to YOU because that is what you WANT to believe. To be honest, you and I have absolutley NO idea why Neal did this. I want to believe that he was honest and sincere. The reason I feel that to be true is simple: Neal has always shot from the heart, not the head. He is impulsive. His past shows that he does not usually think before he speaks. That has always been my biggest gripe with Neal, that he should NOT be the 'spokesperson' for the band.
However, IF Neal did this in order to help his and Journey's image...BRAVO! Someone must have taught Neal something. As I have said before, it seems that Neal is doing much better with the PR in general. If he has graduated to manipulating the press than I am impressed. Apparantly you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. (But to be clear, this is all tongue-in-cheek. I do not believe Neal has learned anything. I believe he has gotten over it and let it go!)
PROPERRY wrote:It had NOTHING to do with "real genuine sincerity" in really wanting Perry to be there to perform with Journey.
YOU do not know that! You WANT to believe that! That is your OPINION and you should state it as such.
PROPERRY wrote:My gosh, Neal spent all those times bashing Perry in his interviews
He was asked how he felt about Perry and the situation (which he knows more about than ANY of us!!) and he replied honestly. To "bash" sounds like there is an ulterior motive and malice of forethough. I do not think Neal has that. Again, I believe Neal does not think before he speaks and therefore responds honestly! You call it bashinf because you do not want to believe what Neal says. But you have no way of knowing that his is not the truth.
PROPERRY wrote:& then SUDDENLY right before the WOF, HE goes on the radio & says, "He misses Perry". I find that to be hilarious of Neal!
It has been reported MANY times in the past SEVERAL years that Perry has an open invitation to sit in with the band. Perry-only fans have been using that fact as PROOF that Journey "knows" they cannot succeed without Perry. Now you are trying to use it as proof that Neal is manipulating the press to improve his image. The closest thing to fact is that this is one of the first times Journey/Neal have had access to TELEVISION AIR TIME!
PROPERRY wrote:Perry stated on the Fan Asylum interview that HE made his OWN DECISION to come to the WOF, and it had nothing to do with anyone else's comments or opinions. Not his exact words, but something like that.
And?
If anything, that just illustrates that Perry is his own man and will not be swayed to make decisions by anyone else. I would be willing to bet that Neal knows that. But he probably felt that it couldn't hurt to ask Perry in front of a camera anyway.
Like Yak said, it IS possible that Neal knew that Perry would not take him up on the offer and Neal wanted the world to see that. But I doubt Neal gave it any thought. I believe he probably just asked because he figured it was the best time to do it...face to face, in person instead of through lawyers and representatives.
PROPERRY wrote:Furthermore THE PERRY FANS have always RESPECTED & SUPPORTED Perry for "whatever decision" HE made in regards to coming to the WOF, or any other decisions he makes in regards to his life.
But you have ALL had your theories as to why he shouldn't show up. Many of you have loudly voiced that Perry would NEVER show up at something like that since it 'would' lend credibility to the continuing Journey.
PROPERRY wrote:It is the "fans of the current line up" "who heavily critzise Perry",
I would say it is fans of the BAND CALLED JOURNEY. But I would agree that "we" 'criticize' Perry from time to time. Do you know why? For the same reason "we" can criticize Journey...they are NOT PERFECT. They MAKE MISTAKES. And as FANS of Journey AND OF PERRY, "we" feel it is appropriate to point out how "we" feel, in the hopes that Perry and/or Journey do not continue to disappoint their FANS. "We" are not blinded by idolatry..."we" are realistic. And as fans, "we" feel it is just as much our RIGHT to discuss the things that concern us. As much as "we" praise what "we" like, "we" criticize what "we" do not. At least "we" are honest and hold no false illusions.
PROPERRY wrote:so could it be more possible that Perry's appearance at HWOF has really flown in the face of the "fans of the current line up" beliefs of the man.
I admit that it was not what I expected. I said all along that I did not think he would show up. But I also said that I thought he SHOULD show up. Therefore, I am very pleased that Perry was there to accept the honor alongside all the others involved. It goes further to illustrate that this honor was about EVERY member of Journey...not just ONE. Even Perry appears to realize that.
PROPERRY wrote:That is the FANS who heavily bash & critizise him.
See above thoughts on the terms "bash" and "criticize". I think you misuse "bash" and I do not see what is wrong with criticism. It is constructive. I have almost be banned from BT for criticizing Journey. And I also criticize Perry. Tell me what is wrong with that.
I think this is a much better post from you, Lori. I do not want you to think I am 'bashin' you for your 'beliefs'. I am simply taking your points and showing you my take on this. Like Yak said, I may not agree, but I accept your views.
