Journey on the CBS Morning Show promoting Arrival

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Wed May 04, 2005 4:27 am

Anyone ever see this?
I recently aquired an audio recording and as much of the fan community had already noted, Augeri sounds downright horrible on it .
He later supposedly confirmed having a cold while performing. That may be so, however to be honest, out of all my bootlegs, I have yet to hear Augeri do a decent rendition of "Higher Place" live. Ever.

Oh well.

Anyone ever see them on the morning show back around 2000?
Thoughts on the guys overall performance?

The drums sounded off, too.

One of the few high profile promotional spots done for Arrival and it had to turn out like this. What a waste.

Did you happen to see the show being discussed, HOTS, and had something you'd like to share about it?

Oh, wait, what's that you say?

IT SEEMS YOU DIDNT ACTUALLY SEE THE SHOW AT ALL AND ARE MERELY BASHING CURRENT MEMBERS??

Why don't you take some of your own pollyana-ish, puritanical advice (and i quote)...

heardonthestreet wrote:What have you accomplished that you feel you can be critical of a famous rock star?

You vile hypocritical slime.

You were criticizing a famous rock star, I wasn't.

You seem to be good at starting topics about Augeri that make him look bad.

Glad to hear you call Steve Augeri a famous rock star! ;)

You're right, you were not criticizing Steve, you were poking fun at him.

I think NC just shows that he is realistic about Steve and Journey.

I did not see the performance first hand, but I have heard the same comments. NC is right, it is a shame that one of the FEW Major Promo pieces for Arrival had to sound as poor as it did.

This may be a revolutionary concept for you, but I can be a fan and yet still remain objective when discussing something.
Name one Steve Perry song that you don't like. Go ahead.
Time's up.
Who is willing to bet that HOTS's answer is"there aren't any".

As i said before, you and your ilk are zombified zealot practioneers of blind idolatry. Go continue onwards with your personal crusade of Anti-Journey hatred committed in your leaders name.

I have it on DVD and Augeri sings falsetto on Dont Stop Believing. (instead of a soaring note like Steve Perry)
My kids tease me about this to this day(when I play the dvd) because it was so bad.
That was the worst performance on that particular appearance IMO.
Yes it was early and perhaps he had a cold but bad is bad.
Anyway, what was I saying.........

Yup, BAD is BAD alright! I did watch it that morning and spent the morning shaking my head in disbelief!

.....and Fred, Calm Down. Must have been too quiet around here without enough of the Perry fans around so you started this thread hoping to attract them back! Afteral, there does not seem to be anything fun to talk about here unless the Perry fans are in town!!!!!! LMAO

Look, you can infer whatever the hell you want from my actions. It wouldn't be the first time you derived meaning when there wasn't any to be found. As far as I'm concerned, it's just par for the course from you. Seems every time Steve Perry so much as sneezes you take it to be a sure-fire harbinger of his triumphant return.

The reason I started this thread is just as I stated, a fellow JRNY fan was nice enough to email me a recording of the show. I had long heard about it, but never had the chance to actually see or hear it. Now that I have, I wanted to discuss it with other fans that saw it too.
Is that so hard to grasp?
Y'know, the idea of discussing a band's performance on a message board about the band?

perryfaithful wrote:you started this thread hoping to attract them back!

So let me see if I have this straight....
If someone posts an objective, critique of a rock band's performance on the said rock band's message board it clearly, incontrovertibly, MUST be a deliberate attempt on their part to placate the Perry-brainwashed.
Is that correct?
Please.
I couldn't care less if u were to drop off the face of the universe right now, today.

See! Ruby has a sense of humor. Why can't you guys laugh a little. I was only trying to be a bit helpful as by now you all are starting to run out excuses for bad performances.

Deano, I like that song. It's a bit of fun. I like the way he sings "doowa" and other things about the song are catchy, imo

Noble Cause. STOP RUNNING AUGERI DOWN!

P.S. What does Noble Cause mean and how does it apply to you? If I shorten it to No Use, will you be offended?

Back to the CBS show. Yeh, I saw it and it sucked. Now what?

Nobody is running Augeri down. I gave my opinion on one performance by the band, Journey on CBS. I mentioned that Deen's drumming sounded off, as well. I came here to discuss that performance with people that have also seen it.

If not on a melodic rock website, then where else do you recommend that one goes to speak honestly about a rock band's performance?

You, on the other hand, have already shown your true colors repeatedly. Most recently, you criticized the band's new album before it's even been released. Unlike you, my opinions are actually predicated on the music that I listen to and not on sheer pre-existing partisan tendentiousness.

That's the difference between a fan and an indoctrinated Perry-zealot with an axe to grind.

Can't people find anything more current to complain about than an appearance from 2001?

Then please do it! If people have to complain (which I am pretty sure they will never stop) at least stop rehashing things like Perry leaving, what happened for ROR, one appearance 4-5 years ago, etc., etc ad nauseum. Think of something new! There must be some new complaint that someone has never raised before--be ingenious.
