Soul Sirkus doing Journey songs-thoughts?

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Mon May 09, 2005 3:59 am

Personally, I don't mind.
Soul Sirkus only has one album to their name and they need to fill the set list with whatever they can.
Furthermore, they only do a brief medley and maybe one full Journey song total.
So it's not so bad.
As a Journey fan, I am cool with it.
If the entiriety of their setlist was comprised of Journey songs, then I'd see why some people might complain.

Anybody here think they absolutely shouldn't be doing this akin to how some fans strongly felt Perry shouldn't have played mainly Journey songs when he went on his solo tour?

Thoughts?

No problem for me. JSS has been a Journey fan. He has the ability to do the songs well. In fact, after hearing his vocals on World Play, I could see him being a great choice if Journey had not gone with Steve. JSS has similarities, but also his own voice. And he definately could have helped the band rock more. But, like you said, no reason to complain...unless it was a full set of Journey songs. That would be wrong.

Maybe, but then people would have really raised cain about the band, like if Bad English, or Harline would have carried the name Journey. Some people have trouble with the current line up-ERIC

Steve Augeri is an excellent replacement for Steve Perry & helped breathe new life into a tired old band , Arrival is one of the strongest Journey albums & way better than the last release with Perry still in the band "Trial By Fire"

as for Soul Sirkus doing Journey Covers , i have no problem with that & was expecting a lot of them at Firefest last weekend , but we only got Send Her My Love in Jeffs Solo Spot & a snippet of Faithfully , the rest of the set was made up of World Play & some very boring solos spots midshow
