So Neal Schon finally made it to Sweden for the first time in 26 years and this time with his new sideproject Soul SirkUS.
We´re talking pro-musicianship from basswizard Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake,Ted Nugent),drumguru Virgil Donati (Planet X,Southern Sons) and lead singer Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman) along with magic fingers Neal Schon.
Their debut album is selling really well here in Europe and you could tell the band had a lotta fun on stage on club Nalen in Stockholm tonight, they did a 2 hour show and since this is Jeff Scott Soto´s second homecountry - he really was wild on stage and gave it all,I was very impressed by his performance.
Marco Mendoza is a true showman indeed and a good vocalist as well,he really is looking supercool on stage and the bass solo he did was a bit different from the ordinary virtuoso stuff many others put on.
Donati is an excellent drummer and fits in real good with the band as the replacement for Deen Castronovo,he is as tight as a digital clock and surprised me with doing some background vocals too when Neal didn´t stand by the mic.
But this was Neal´s show, the crowd loved him and the solo´s he played were pure magic - he also made a promise to come back to Europe next year with both Soul SirkUS and Journey, wow that sounds amazing and we can´t wait. Anyway, the place was full and it must have been around 8-900 in there singing along mostly to the Journey songs.
