Frontiers Preorder

Postby Hippie » Thu Jun 30, 2005 4:43 am

Ok, a couple of questions for the posters in the know.

This came in from Frontiers Records:
We will ONLY ship the limited edition in ecolbook (or digibook). The plastic case version of the album will only be manufactured after the entire first pressing is sold out, so we will NOT collect any preorder for that.

I'm in Doofus mode!

Can someone splain to me what a digibook is?

Also:

Am I correct in assuming that Frontiers (being based in Europe) will be shipping the European version of the CD (which includes "Never Too Late")?

I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying the digi book is a cardboard fold out sleeve.

I would presume Frontiers will be releasing the version with Never Too Late on.

Digibook or Ecobook are CD cases that do not come in plastic jewel cases. The whole thing is more like a book. The cover and back are connected, with the artwork on the cardboard. The CD is usually in a sleeve or 'pages' within the book.

Frontiers is releasing the version with Deen's song on it.

From the Frontiers site: "Also VERY SHORTLY all details for exclusive preorders and early shipments for the new album exclusively through the Frontiers Records website will be released to the website and newsletter subscribers !!!"

Looking forward to the next Frontiers newsletter to hear how "early" the pre-orders will be getting the CD. Andrew, any idea?

I got the newsletter yesterday giving the pre-order details. Frontiers requires you order 2 or more CDs so they have put together some packages. I am going to order "Generations" with the 2nd edition of "World Play". It is a little more expensive (@$50 after shipping) but it will be my one splurge. Anything to get "Generations" early!!

Just pre-ordered my copy of Generations, with Frontiers. Apparantly they will ship it between the 25th of july and 5th August.

So Hopefully less than a month and I should have it.

I did have to order with another cd, but it works out at just over £20 for 2 cd's and postage. I would have paid £13 just for Journey on the regular delivery, so not a bad deal at all.

So the Frontiers version has 1 bonus track? I just saw another track, making it 2, on the Japanese version, for about 23.00 USD each...

Ok, I'm showing my ignorance again.

How zakkly do you order the CD's?

I guess I'm planning on using Pay Pal (which I've never used). Or does Frontiers actually have an order system?

Any advice? :?

So Andrew you're telling me that if you want "The Pride Of the Family" you go Japanese, and if you want "It's Never too Late" you go Frontiers?

I am sorry, but sticking to the "Brutally honest scheme" I have going THIS SUCKS! Why would Journey screw us this way? Irving Azoff is pinching pennies for dimes...Personally he sucks..he hasn't done squat for this band, ...looks like he is jocking the Eagles money machine..hey Irving, I thought you said "there was a legion of fans out there who needed Journey and wanted to hear them again?" He should have EVERY release include ALL the songs... Journey can not afford to be choosy anylonger..this ain't 1986!!

Neal, if he knew, should have said, "Bullshit, our fans get all of our songs, period!" Neal knows I love him, and he probably has absolutely nothing to do with this whatsoever, but I personally think this sucks..Well, I will have to buy BOTH imports...I guess they got their bank... I would guess Neal knew nothing of this.. After all his plate is kind of full...

Let me get that updated and definite....I was under the impression that each territory got a bonus track, that the Deen track was exclusive to Europe.

But someone at BackTalk has posted that the Japan version has both tracks - which I think is incorrect, but can't get info today.

I'm sure it says on the Frontiers site somewhere. That "Never Too late" is a European exclusive. And Japan does usually demand an exclusive track,

If this is right then I guess I'll be buying both too. But I agree with Dean this does SUCK big time.

I will wait to buy mine the old fashioned way. In a store or online (when I can buy just one).

Deano, glad to see you went back to your old icon. You can't beat it.

I am very interested in what Anrew finds out.
I was all set to order "Generations" and "World Play" from Frontiers, but if I can get all the music from the Japanese release than that is the way I am going. I am not too concerned with the ecobook and EPK. They sound cool, but it is about the music.

Of course, I still maintain that Journey should make these tracks available for download soon. They might not be able to for a while due to contractual agreements...but hopefully they will be able to!

Andrew, was I off base with what I said? I do think it's wrong to do this. And besides, often the bonus track is a very good song. Why would the band put a grade A song as an bonus overseas track??

I just think manageament is milking the hardcores on this... :?

I have no problem with the bonus track concept, that has been around for a long time. I am outraged that Frontiers makes you buy 2 CDs to get the Journey CD. I have never seen a marketing plan that makes the product so hard to buy, have you?

That's actually not exclusive to GENERATIONS .

Any mail order from Frontiers is a two CD minimum. Now why that is, I haven't a clue; but I've seen similar policies on other over the net businesses.

It is hard to order from them though. Why can't they do a basic order form? I still haven't figured out how to order from them. :?

Remember, you can also buy the CD through www.cdinzane.com and most likely it will be available through NEH Records as well.

I did a search for Journey on cdinzane.com and it did not come up. Do you know for sure it will be on there? Will they have a two-drink -- I mean CD -- minimum? :?

I placed to my order to Frontiers via email on through the site.

They have sent a confirmation that the order is in place and how much it is. They will send an email telling me how and when to pay nearer the time. I will recieve another email once the cd has been despatched.

I don't know why they have the 2 cd minimum, but the second cd I ordered is a cd I would have bought anyway, and it works out cheaper than buying the 2 seperate.
