3 cuts? That's weak. That's almost as bad as during the Arrival tour when they played 3 or 4 new songs (if that).
I say push the hell out of Generations and cut back on the pre-Perry stuff by 2 songs.

I do..Look, these guys aren't stupid..they read our reviews and they notice people leaving BEFORE the hits come to close the show..

If they can play Place in Your Heart, Faith in the Heartland, and probably Out of Harms Way, that is good enough for now..

Every Generation and Butterfly slowed the show down way too much..

But whomever said cut back the pre perry stuff was right on also..too many songs..

Sounds like this setlist is a work in progress
I personally do not like the flow of the show
Dean singing 4 songs in a row is foolish
Ross singing anything is foolish
I like the songs Dean is singing but they should space them out
Also the Pre Perry stuff to me is a waste maybe do just 1 Tune Kahoutek and mabye Saturday Night and thats it,

Yeah it's a bitch having to play ONLY half of your hits, and leave so many hits out of the show.. I know a lot of bands that would love to have this "Problems." Look at the songs(hits) they leave out:

Send Her My Love
When You love a Woman
Girl Can't Help It
Suzanne
Raised on Radio
I'll Be alright without you
Still they Ride
Ask the Lonely
Message of Love
Keep on Runnin'
Who's Cryin' Now
Walks Like a Lady

yeah, they weren't all hits, but the public sure knows them..That is half a set right there!!

By the way, why is it foolish for DEEN (2 EE's) to sing 4 songs in a row? Have you heard that dude sing? Actually he his singing more than that..all the help he lends to Augee...Besides, if Augeri had to sing almost everything, he wouldn't make it to the next show!

I think it's a good idea.

If the fans go home happy after hearing their favourites then maybe they will also remember just how good the new tracks are too.

If they get fed up or bored and leave without even hearing the new stuff, (or complain all the way through them) then that's an oppertunity missed.

I agree about the pre Perry stuff, it makes sense to cut back on these.

I liked the Irvine setlist better, but I can see why they changed it. I just hope they can stick a few new ones back in down the road. Really both Irvine and San Diego were great shows. I'm just glad I was in Irvine to hear the new stuff!

Every cd shpuld have at least one song on the show since it is a 30 annv. show. Really 1 song per cd on the pre Perry cds. The new cd should have 5 or 6 songs, so the can see the reaction to the songs and know what is good. Good to see the other songs added, could have done without Who's Crying NOw.-ERIC

I can see them cutting back a little on the pre-Perry songs, although I will really miss them...but "taking out FIVE songs from "Generations"?!?! THAT SUCKS!! One or two, sure...but NOT FIVE!!

I hate that I never get the same show I read about from the reviews. Just like when they cut "Patiently" and "Mother, Father" out of the set 3-4 dates before the show I was going to. They were to be the highlights of my concert. Instead, I got the standrad GH. I was pissed about that.

I am sure it will still be a great show when I see them, but I REALLY liked the first setlist!

I wonder which songs from the new CD they are keeping. If I had to guess, I would say: The Place in Your Heart, Faith in the Heartland, and maybe Ross' tune or one of Jon's tunes.

A good review, but are some of these critics living under a rock by comparing Steve to Perry? He's been fronting the band for how many years now? Of course he's not going to sing a song JUST like Perry. He's NOT Perry, and he shouldn't try to be! The band needs to emphasize the songs written with Steve in mind, and the critics need to open their eyes and then clean out their ears.

A quote from this review:

Augeri was more confident when he wasn't singing in Perry's shadow - covering several cuts off the band's new record, "Generations." From the preview they gave Thursday night, it's an album that will remind die-hard fans of the old days, songs such as the patriotic rock ode "Keep Them Out of Harm's Way" and the inspirational "Faith in the Heartland."

I will see for myself if Steve is singing in Perry's shadow when I get to a concert this summer. What is that supposed to mean anyway? Oh, forgot, this is one man's opinion of what he saw.

Hi, I'm new here so go easy on me, yeah?!
You have ANY idea what we in England would give to have the pleasure of just seeing Journey live???!!
Personally, I'm not a fan of the pre-Perry stuff, and in my humble opinion, I think more should be played from Arrival. Thats such an underrated album!
Haven't heard anything from Generations yet, but would be happy for 5/6 songs from a current album being played in a set.
Be happy just to bloody see them!!![/i]

Welcome BlueTrick,
Next year you just might have your opportunity to see Journey live. Neal hhas mentioned several times that he will take Journey to the UK in 2006. I have no idea what kind of set they would play, but I imagine it will be more of the Greatest Hits set. Maybe they will still play 1-2 songs off "Generations" but I am sure that will depend on what happens with this tour...and after.
If you would like to hear samples of the Journey CD you can go to the front page of www.Melodicrock.com and scroll down through the news.Andrew has posted five clips. If you are a subscriber at www.frontiers.it then you can hear all seven clips that have been offered.
