GOOD GRIEF..........Don't lie to yourself.

Do yourself a favor. Listen to the new David Pack sample again. At the end of the clip, Perry sings the word "apart". He's not even trying to sing it at all high and his voice still cracks on just that one word alone.

I fully realize that the perry heads will never admit this. That's ok. But the rest of you folks, come on. It's ok to admit reality even if it hurts a little bit.

"a part"

It's two words.

"apart" is in the dictionary. Means "separately in place or time". As in "Separate Ways (World's Apart).

Although I listened to the clip again, and it is used as two words: "a part of a brand new start." Good catch, Spike. You must be an English teacher!

You're quite correct. However, in the context of this song, it is being used as a noun, "a part", not the adjective, "apart". Hence, it is two words and a break between them is not surprising.

Edited my post above as you were posting, Spike. Again, good call.

You're a newbie, eh? Welcome.

Thank you!

No, not an English teacher, but I have a basic grasp of the language.

I'm new to posting, but I have lurked here for years. I just felt moved to register this morning.

Just to make my point clear to anyone who is pondering this, the break in this phrase is indicative of nothing more than Perry understanding the words he is singing. I feel that Free will have to try much harder to make his/her case.

My spin? I am one of the people who has heard the entire song now...I got my secrets, no, I didn't pose as a west coast manager of production guy either

It's OK. Certainly not embarrassing, like he would or could ever be embarrassing... However, it is studio, and like I said before, studios can make anyone sound better; see Ashly Simpson.

He does sing a bit more towards the end of the song, but I am not "blown away" like I am with Generations. It seems a very safe, mild song where nothing bad can hurt him.

Steve Perry IS the BEST singer of all time. Write it down, you heard it first! And I am serious!

That's just crazy. Perry was/is a great vocalist. But "of all time" is really pushing it.

You may be right, but He was awfully good. Ok, I retract my words to say, "My favourite of all time." How's that?

Yes. His voice is not good right now. My hope is that he could get it into some kinda shape. Maybe work with a voice specialist.

I'd take Perry as is now over Augeri any day. Any day.

Holy Hell now you guys are highjacking year old threads?

I see the heat has gotten to some.

I agree Free I prefer Perry anything to Steve Augeri.
But that's just my personal ears preference

I'd forgotten about this response. But does anyone care how it's spelled. The point was that his voice was not good in this song.

Doesn't mean it can't get better. But I know some of you would rather watch Augeri lip compared to listening to current day Perry. I'm not one of you.

Just thought it was interesting that Free points out that Perry couldn't even handle BG vox on Pack's album, and less than a year later he wants him back in Journey. And don't forget the $3,000 thread.

NIG, you need to stop huddling up with this guy. You two look absolutely ridiculous.

I would do it too, though. Get this place shut down, to protect good ol Mr. Awesome. Good political idea actually.
However, It's safe to say, you two are getting your asses handed to you on this. Keep bringing it up, genius.

You prove absolutely nothing. Of course his voice sounded bad here. But it sure as hell can't sound any worse the current day Augeri.

I've always wanted Perry back. Even if he doesn't sound good.

The whole point of that post almost a year ago was this: Some said that Perry sounded good. I didn't think he did. This proves it.

But I've said many times that it was Perry's non-verbal stuff that made him so special in concert. He knows how to emotionally connect to the audience better than any singer I've ever seen.

Why don't you go listen to an Augeri part live- part tape concert?

They're trying to link Perry with this scandal.

There is NOTHING at all between Perry and tapegate.

I cannot say it any clearer.

Why don't you just spill the beans man? Perry helped you splice the tape.

That is almost too funny. He's been out of the band, yes, I know you will tell me he gets money from them today. However, he is not functional in the band as he doesn't make decisions for them today. Perhaps he should.  Don't get upset, that was a joke. :P

No. You don't understand. Perry invented this tape gate thing to make Augeri look bad so Neal would ask him back.

If everyone will donate money, I would like to travel to Steve Augeri myself and ask him about this. $3K should do it.
