Edge of the Blade Live

Hey everyone, just lurking through all these posts with all this discussion about bootleg copies of audio and video and everything, and figured I'd make an inquiry here...

About 2 years ago I found an amazing bootleg version of "Edge of The Blade," that must have been recorded on the Frontiers tour. There was an extended ending that was amazing, and I think at the end of the track Perry says, "Jonathan Cain on Keyboards," or something like that, then said something about everyone waiting "faithfully" all day to see them, and they went into "Faithfully."

I lost a lot of Napster tracks over the years and never got back onto any other P2P networks...Does anyone know what version of this song I'm talking about, and any one have a copy that might be willing to share?

Thanks!

I got that concert on my computer.. They do play Edge..It was at Veterans Stadium in Philly...It was a radio broadcast.
I am not a computer genius but I will see if I can help you.

When searching on Limewire or Kazaa, enter "Journey live concert" and select Philadelphia..it is 1 hour and 6 mins long.

Yes, I have a Canadian concert boot of it from the "Detour" tour.
Deen chimes in and covers the tail-end of the song for Steve.
Steve was on fire that night, but even at his best, some notes are a trifle hard to reach for him.

Other than that, it sounded great.

Nice, Cause. Glad to hear Augie was on again. Detour had some amazing setlists, what's that list if I may be so bold?

Most of the concert was sent to me in the order played, but my computer jumbled them all up. I can list the songs, but the order will be off. It is from the Casinorama show. Here they are:

Be Good to Yourself
Only The Young
Stone In Love
Higher Place
Suzanne
Lights
Wheel in the Sky
Opened the Door
Send Her My Love
Open Arms
Rubicon
Voodo Chile
Chain Reaction
Happy to Give
Mother Father
Keep on Runnin
Escape
Edge of the Blade
Separate Ways
Dont Stop Believin
Any Way You Want It.
Lovin Touchin Squeezin
Paty's Over

As you can see, a pretty comprehensive set list.
Athough Deen normally covers the early stuff, Steve covered "Somethin to Hide" this time. Did quite nice on it, too.

And how exactly would you know?
Have you traitorously been attending current lineup concerts? Hmm?
Apparently someone isn't so faithful ,after all.

Isn't he? Dean's just taking a little break from the board he'll be back.

Oh Yea, what do you think of Deen?

You know, Castronovo?

The Noble Cause? How's Keep On Running on that show? Party's Over's a nice gem, too.

Oh man, absolutely stellar. Phenomenal. Better than Perry. I have Perry boots where he sings "Keep on Runnin" slower, Deen sings it just like the record (and he's playing drums, to boot!).
The guy's amazing.

Indeed. Steve and Deen trade off and on this one. They both sound fantastic. Especially Steve, he really seems to own the song.
They close the show with this one.

I'm pumped that KOR rocks with the new lineup. Not surprised about PO either. I heard a recording of them in Japan doing it and it smoked (no Deen duet though).

What year, Joe?
Osaka from this year, or from Party's Over tour?

the JFK version (particularly the last 2-3 minutes) was absolutely amazing, just every reason why i love journey packed into that 6 or 7 minute track. that's all i ever heard from that show (as mentioned above)! in fact, the only live journey i've ever heard has been the officially released stuff. never got into any bootlegs, but i'd love to get my hands on another copy of the edge of the blade.

as for 1998+ lineup, i've seen 2 shows, the first was the vacation's over tour, which was my first time seeing journey. we were familiar with the venue and managed to track down rendell to allow us to listen to the sound check from the side of the stage - being 10 feet from Deen knocking out that song was like standing too close to a nuclear reactor. just amazing energy...a fantastic show, though it was clear the band was still finding it's chemistry.

the second was the under the radar tour, and it sounds like the DETOUR set list TNC posted above was the show I should have seen. nothing very impressive about the under the radar show, though musically was as tight as ever. i think i'm in the minority of those who thought the highlight of the show was the acoustic set of 'trial by fire.'

Blast, I forgot one!

They also covered "Dead or Alive" in the Detour setlist.

As the tour went on they removed several of the songs. When I saw them in Delaware they had gotten rid of "Happy to Give" "Somethin to Hide" and "Party's Over".

Everything else intact though.

Awesome. Would love to get my hands of that somehow (sadly, I don't partake in trading anymore...computer issues).

Ur not talking about a boot, right.
You were actually there in person, correct?

If so, how did Fleishman sound on Wheel in the Sky?
There is currently a thread about this over on BackTalk and everyone is saying he sounded like yesterday's rancid arse.

Yeah I was there. Steve Smith was outstanding. Deen was giving him the "I'm not worthy bow." Fleischman was ok I guess. I could not tell the difference really. It was so hot in there. It was way overpacked, and the A/C broke!

Are you confusing Somethin' To Hide with Opened The Door, or did they perform both songs at that show? And BTW, is this a 'soundboard' quality recording? In any event, I'm interested in obtaining a copy of this, please send me a PM if you can help. Thanks!
