Open For Business

Yes the board is open.

BUT - First sign of anyone being an asshole and I won't even warn them...I'll just cancel their account.

I've had about enough abuse for this board from a few lone assholes and I do not have any patience left.

So, let's hope more than 4 or 5 people don't dominate the board and post just for the sakeof it constantly and let's hope that civil conversations can prevail.

And I want to add - I really don't care who you are, first person to be an ass on this board is gone.

Thank you :)

Let me be the first to thank you for re opening the forum.

Let's hope for best behaviour all round.

So Andrew,
Does this mean you are done with the interviews? :D

Thank you for reopening the board. This forum has the most activity of all your boards. I look forward to new Journey conversations.

One other question? If a brand new poster comes in and starts with an ill-worded post that, although unintentional, incites the debate What happens to that person?

Doesn't have to be a brand new poster. There are plenty of existing ones who are guilty. I think we all either have to ignore it or, if we must reply, do so without insulting that person. Or take it to PM.

It was kind of fun visiting other forums more often. You and I got the Bon Jovi board going a bit, didn't we Dave? :D

No need to stop we can discuss more than one band at a time. Let's see if we can keep them all up and running for a while.

Yes, but it is the "new" ones that might be treated unfairly about this "Zero Tolerance" rule. And it is those NEW posters that we would like to stay and participate. We don't want to run them off like Bloodflower. Anytime some new comes in we need to be very nice to that person while explaining the HISTORY of Journey.

NealIsGod wrote:There are plenty of existing ones who are guilty. I think we all either have to ignore it or, if we must reply, do so without insulting that person. Or take it to PM.

100% agree. Some of them still create a lot of activity for the board. I just hope it can stay civil. Forget about "agenda" and simply treat the words for what they say.

And if it goes to PM, hopefully it stays on PM. I hate when people start posting about their PM's.

NealIsGod wrote:It was kind of fun visiting other forums more often. You and I got the Bon Jovi board going a bit, didn't we Dave? :D

A little bit...we will have to do more.
Like Mamos said, there is no reason to stop visiting the other boards. I stated on Styx that I never had time to visit the other boards because Journey 'kept me busy'. But if the bickering ceases here, i think there will be more time.

I haven't been run off. Not yet, anyway. :P

And I would really like to participate here - honest. I like some of you, even Deano. In fact, he's my favorite one so far. He's brash, but he's honest, and deep down, probably just a cuddly teddy bear.

EDIT: I take it back. I *thought* he was nice. But he's not. I thought his truce thread was cool, and I warmed up to him. But I was wrong. I'm so naive.

SECOND EDIT: I like Deano again. For now. He's pretty cuddly, ultimately.

I am even beginning to like Noble Cause. He was Noble, and wrote me a PM. I thought that was sweet.

Andrew, I don't understand why my threads were deleted. I understand why one of them was locked, because it was going nowhere, and just flames at that point. True, I was being a bit ill-tempered, but only defensively, because I was being attacked. My first post I could see was a bit provocative, but I really wasn't intending to stir up trouble. I swear. I had been trying to find a good Journey forum for a few days, and when Back Talk booted me for my pretty inoffensive comment, I came here, because someone at Back Talk had mentioned it.

But really, my threads were pretty innocuous. They weren't THAT bad. I just said things that people disagreed with, and I said them in a way that was construed as disrespectful. But they were pretty tame, in the end.

Again, I apologize for seeming disrespectful. My opinions about Journey still stand. BUT I am willing to give a listen to Generations, and I do plan on going to their show. But if I don't like Generations or the show, I should be free to say so in a nice manner.

I prefer this place to Back Talk because here it seems less fascist. Some of the personalities here are fun, and I do enjoy talking about Journey, past and present. But I don't understand why my threads were deleted - ESPECIALLY the one about Generations, which was just asking a question.

I am not trying to start anything Andrew. I am just wanting to understand how this place runs.

Thanks. :)

P.S. Am I not allowed to say ANYTHING negative about present Journey?? It is not my agenda to do so - I am actually "fair and balanced" - but I need to know how this place works. Thanks.

God I just love being so popular. Don't worry, I guess I post too much(according to the Boards' owner, so I really won't participate anymore, unless someone asks me a question..like that will happen.[/quote]

Oh about your posts getting deleted..I lost almost two hundred...

Andrew does run an excellent site. I will still come to his site daily to read up on news, but will hardly come to these boards....I can read through His message, and I feel like he thinks I am the rusty wheel that is going to derail the train.. You guys go at it, have fun..
We will see in due time if I am the problem..

Why do some people insist on outing someone on "the other side" when that person pms them??
"Na Na Na Na Na, this one or that tried to pm me and now I'm telling the whole board" Grow the christ up.

Red: Are you referring to me? Because I wasn't outing anyone. I just wanted to say that I was glad NC PMed me. I didn't expose the contents of his PM, and I wouldn't.

I really don't understand this place. I came here to vent, and then got caught up in everyone else's passion for the current Journey line-up, and decided to give it a try. Andrew, I asked you questions, but you are not answering them. Why?

What are we allowed to do on this board? Can we say nicely worded constructive criticism about Journey, or not?

Because if not, then it's not the place for me to be. I want to be fair and balanced about Journey, I really do. But I want to be able to speak my mind, positive, or negative, in a respectful way. Are we allowed to do that, or not?

I think we all learn and grow when we debate opinions. I want to learn and grow from others here. I want to give Journey another chance. But I also want to say what I believe.

Please steer me in the right direction. I will promise to participate respectfully, but I can't move on - either by leaving or by staying - if I don't know the rules.

Bloodflower,

You need to read Andrew's post again if you are not certain what the "rules" are.

I'm pretty sure that he would like to see the language toned down and the personal attacks ended (sorry Andrew, I'm not trying to speak for you!). He's been more than fair about letting this particular Journey message board take a life of its own..but it got out of hand and I believe he did the right thing by shelving it for a few days.

Here's to a new start!

Journey On!

I don't think that is what Red is referring to. I think he means the peole that talk about their 'not-so-nice' business through PMs. Some people will come on here and then try to use a PM against someone in a public forum. People just need to remember that PM stands for (P)rivate (M)essage. But no one is going to have an issue with pleasantries through PMs.

Bloodflower wrote:Andrew, I asked you questions, but you are not answering them. Why?

Andrew has a large site to keep track of and a lot of business to attend to. He usually makes his posts very short. I am sure he will get around to your answers.

I think I can speak for Andrew and everyone here that YES, you can post criticisms as well as praise. Just do not 'attack' the others (in the band or on the board).

Bloodflower wrote:I think we all learn and grow when we debate opinions. I want to learn and grow from others here. I want to give Journey another chance. But I also want to say what I believe.

That is great to hear. I wish more posters were open minded like that.

Don't worry too much about it. Participate, have fun, don't let emotions rule your post. If there is a problem Andrew will let you know.

Thanks Jrnyman! You've been the nicest so far.

My initial tone in my initial posts were peevish, because I was feeling peevish about them replacing Perry and continuing with Journey. Still am, BUT unlike Fox News, I really am fair and balanced! :D :D :D

You bet. If it's valid. There is nothing I hate more than a suck-ass artist message board where nothing bad is ever allowed to be said without 10 people jumping on you.

All artists make mistakes and are not perfect and fans should be allowed to comment.

I try and see all sides to any argument, I just ask that points be put forward with respect and without personal abuse.

Exactly, J28. Blood, it's now the at least the second time you've publicly announced in here how TheNobleCause pm'd you. The first was in one of your incendiary threads where he and you brawled and he must've tried to take it to pm to try to sort things out. A few posts down you were still flaming away and mentioned he pm'd you about it. It might've been adorned with some kind of bogus "thanks noblecause" or some disguise but you took pleasure in posting that you annoyed a fan so much that they had to pm you to try to straighten it out. This happens with all the head/loons as well and it is weak.

When Andrew drops the loon thing I will. It's a word he's deployed many times on his site.

Red, why don't you leave me alone? For the last time: I came here, vented my thoughts (not knowing that there was a whole background of these types of debates), got into some disagreements, misbehaved ever so slightly along with everyone else, apologized, and now I'm here attempting to learn more about Journey past and present.

ONCE I mentioned a PM from NC, because only ONCE did he PM me. I did not expose the contents of his PM, nor would I. I'm sorry if he's offended that I mentioned his PM, but I did so innocently. I found it sweet that he did that, because I thought he hated me - and likely does, but at least he had the courtesy to be nice to me.

Geez. I am NOT here to fight. So I expressed some viewpoints you don't like? SO WHAT? This is getting old. I am NOT a Perryloon, I am simply a nostalgic fan who wants to converse with other Journey fans. I am learning a lot here, but frankly, it's become too much of an uphill battle for me. It's not enjoyable having to defend myself against people who are too immature to face the facts that not everyone feels the same way as they do.

At this point, if Andrew deleted my acocunt, I really wouldn't care. I have moved on from the initial spats, but some people can't seem to. Sad, really, because message boards can be productive if you let them.

Innocent? Adorning it with a preemptory thank you does not innocece make.

If you're arguing heatedly with someone and they pm you to try to straighten it out or whatever and then you immediately run to the forum and announce that person pm'd you it's desinged to embarass.

I will heed your wishes and refrain from further criticisms. I'd pm you an apology, but what would be the point? I'll let everyone here see it in advance of being thanked in here for it. But your sincere posts are informed and enjoyable.

WHAT are you talking about? NC did not try to straighten anything out with me. And I was not trying to expose him for anything, or embarass him. I was SIMPLY mentioning it because it made me like him better, and feel better about the board in general.

If NC has a problem with me MENTIONING his PM, then he can take it up with me, and I will apologize.

Case closed.

I don't know HOW the Cause felt about it. He doesn't need me as an advocate as he forgets more every day about making sound, reasoned arguments than I will ever know. He might've been overjoyed.

I know what you were up to and it's over now, I agree the case is closed.

leave me alone and move on.

better yet, cease talking with me altogether.
