BREAKING NEWS: Rich People Wield Power!!

I cribbed this from BackTalk.
Wanted to re-post it here before the mods' censorial itchy fingers (wich they are notorious for) got the best of them (similar to how they deleted JSS's post last week).

A fan named, NCAugeriFan2, wrote this. I found it semi-interesting.
Read on.

"I would love to hear Butterfly. Maybe we can get rich kids of a rich and successful family - like the Bacardi (rum) family to request it. That's what happened at one of the shows last year. Steve said they had a request to play Higher Place and they played it. Boom - just like that. During the meet and greet the Bacardi family told the guys they were the ones to request Higher Place. Plus the band was pushed to make sure that they spent time with this family. Witness with both ears & eyes.
Money speaks louder than fans it seems."

There was a special request played at the Denver Show: Ask The Lonely.
But I do not know who requested it. It is quite possible that one of a few special guests at the meet and greet requested it.

And we are supposed to believe this person went to a Meet and Greet and then has decided to post this because, why?

If you can't see this a pure gossip and whining to get your way, then I am surprised at your lack of perception

No.
Sorry.
Actually, I don't. What I see is a Journey fan who saw band conduct which he didn't approve of and so he intrepidly posted about it on the band's official site. More power to him.

What way?
What on earth would the poster possibly achieve thru disclosing this ugly truth minus for getting himself banned?

ace wrote:then I am surprised at your lack of perception

The person who posted this story is a long time poster at Back Talk and has never displayed any evidential traces of pushing an alterior motive before. I fail to see why you are so quick to jump the gun to discredit this.

First, do you believe everything you read on the internet? I always question the veracity of stories especially when they are posted on internet forums. I suppose you would believe me if I said I stayed at Keith Richard's Cheney Walk house in London, too. as for ulterior motives, why bring BT stuff over here?

No, but as already stated, this person is a long time poster and I have no reason to doubt the veracity of what was written.

But you're not questioning, your immediately repudiating.

What an absolutely terrible analogy.
There is a HUGE difference between claiming to have attended a meet n' greet and saying u stayed over at a band member's house.

ace wrote::roll: as for ulterior motives, why bring BT stuff over here?

I already answered this.
'Cuz I thought it was an interesting post (still do) and wanted to re-post it before it got deleted by overzealous BT nazi mods.

Sorry, the cited stories are just the same, equally debatable. Posting history has nothing to do with whether a story is fact or fiction. I also see that the "BT Nazi mods" have not deleted the post. go figure

A loyal fan reporting what he/she witnessed at a meet N' greet is not in any ways equatable to a fan claiming to have spent the nite at Keith Richard's house. Largely because, see, fans attend meet n' greets all the time, they don't normally attend celebrity slumber parties.
I can't believe I actually have to make that distinction for you.

It def. plays a role in credibility. As I've said before, the author is a long time poster at Back Talk and has never displayed any evidential traces of pushing an alterior motive before. Therefore, I have absolutely no reason to suspect this person to be lying. You, on the other hand, have swiftly rejected the story as a lie without even affording the authour the slightest benefit of the doubt.

ace wrote:I also see that the "BT Nazi mods" have not deleted the post. go figure

No, not "go figure".
Have you actually ever posted there? You're coming off rather ignorant. Many axed BT posters end up coming here and even bitching about it (see Bloodflower's rant from this past month). SoulSirkus frontman, Jeff Soto, had his post deleted after saying a few unseemly things just this past week. BT is absolutely reknowed for it's mods' itchy censorial fingers (ask Monker or Deano or any of the other board regulars here).

Frankly, I really don't know what is driving your personal crusade to discredit this one fan's testimony.
The fan saw something they didn't like and brazenly wrote about it on the official site.
Good for them!
I found it interesting and posted it here. That's the end of it.

If you choose to be so insular as to refuse to even entertain the possibility of this story as truth for a second, then that's your right. However, don't let ur willfull myopia intrude upon my thread.

maybe journey was interested in a sponsorship with bacardi, or something. it doesn't hurt to foster those sorts of business relationships. if they catered to every fans wants, they wouldn't get anything done! all in all, the setlists this year look like a real attempt to make the most amount of people happy...but i don't know why "every generation" would be one of the 3 generations songs they are playing now...why not let steve sing another song, maybe butterfly that he pushed so hard for, or even better together, which i think would go over MUCH better live than it does on the CD.

Do you find that track in particular to have very much a "live" feel to it? Augeri's voice doesn't seem as polished as it is in some of the others (most notably when he makes those high pitched cat calls) and there also seems to be an aura of vocal improvisation running thoughout the track, with Steve saying things like "wait a minute!" and "mustang!".
The best word to describe the track would be "raw".

It's really the only song on the album that is redolent of Red 13.

yeah, i don't like the song very much, i think it sounds like something from a 90's hair band, like warrant or something. no need for journey to sound so sassy and butch, if you ask me. but that improv feel to it is precisely why i think it would be better live...a good time song with a real swinging feel to it that sticks with you until you hit the parking lot.

IMO all these experimental or off-beat musical deviations found on the album (Gone Crazy, Better Together etc) are fine as long as they are countered with the safe soaring melodic AOR sound that Journey is primarily known for. Sadly, the second half of the album is sparse with that. The first half has it in spades though. That's why i feel it was so crucial for them to keep the Deen track in for the US release. It has that classic Escape/Frontiers Journey sound to it and could've really improved the flow of the album's 2nd half.

The Cause is right about the vox too. They're a little more muddled than most of his others on the record. Kind of like how you can tell the difference in lead vocal from World Gone Wild to the rest of Arrival.

No, I don't think so.

I am listening to the Tyketto "Shine" album and on the track "Rawthigh" at exactly 2:22 into the track I distinctly hear Augeri say "Mustang" .
I am really suprised no one has picked up on this yet.
For those keeping count; Steve inexplicably belts out the word "Mustang" on "Shine" "Tall Stories (on Wild on the Run) " and now, "Generations (during Better Together) ".

What's with Steve Augeri sneaking the word mustang into his songs?

I haven't listened to Shine or Tall Stories lately, I'll have to listen for that.
