The Journey Obsession

Every once in awhile, I get totally obsessed with something. Last year it was two months of researching plane crashes, till enough was enough. All of a sudden in the last few weeks it's Journey. I can't get enough. I think it started two months ago when I pulled Arrival off the shelf and was just blown away by it after not hearing it for many months. I'm remembering the incredible Day On the Green (July 30, 1983) show, I'm thinking about the night I watched some of Journey from the stage at the Harley Fest in Toronto Sept 28, 2002 when I worked for the Doors, and how incredible they sounded. I'm listening to Trial By Fire, the Greatest Hits, I need to go get Escape, I love Steve Augeri, Steve Perry, Neal Schon really is Mozart, I have LOSM, have to go listen to it again, I just got Soul Sirkus and am digging the hell out of it, I'm reading all the interviews....I'm practicing the solo to Lights and jamming on guitar and trying to sing some of this stuff again I don't know what the hell has happened to me. I can't wait for Generations. I almost went to the Irvine show but decided Whitesanke in a small venue for the first time was a can't miss experience. Oh and one more thing, I think the band is still very visible out there, my bands and solo act are getting more requests all the time for Journey.

I too ripped Arrival down and spun it the other day since I just posted in a thread that it has some fluff. Wanted to sure of my accusation. Higher Place stands up good to anything they've ever done.
Had a hard time finding the fluff, the thing is great. Augie doens't sound AS good as on the new one but the music is awesome.
All The Way is fluffy, but then again SOMEONE like it as it went to #25...

This thread is borderline Backtalk..almost as bad as "countdown to ..___.
However,
I think you all know I got serious issues..in particular with this band.
My obsession is not with particular albums, and lineups..I have the ability, that some do not have, of listening to every lineup the band has ever had. My obsession is now getting backstage and talking and fuckin' around with the band. I already did the BS'ing with roadies, I have moved on to hoppin walls and "interviewing" the band members.

My wife had a dream the other night that we won the Powerball. So, she rented a club, invited all my Journey Forum friends, and hired Journey to play. Then we had a dinner afterwards with the band. The funny thing was, she did not invite NEal!!! She feels he has too much ego onstage so she had a fried fill in for him!! I said I couldn't believe she would do that becaus eI would have wanted to spend the most time talking to HIM about all the "issues" I have (or have seen) with the band. He is, after all, the 'leader'!
But, alas, 'twas only a dream!

My wife feels the same about Perry, and DeYoung, and Henley. Loves to listen to them sing, but not watch them.-ERIC

And not one F-ing cent of alimony either. There is absolutely no excuse to not invite Schon to dinner and shots..
I would invite Perry..to clean my bathroom. But I'm sure his hip would give him problems tho.

I would invite Perry for dinner (because he is THE VOICE OF ROCK), but after dinner, I would tie him up, invite all of you over, and we can all tell him how "we" feel he is a big...............ERIC

My friend, I may call you that? My friend if I thought you were completely pulled over to the dark side of the force, I would have to light saber your butt, but since your not, and as long as there is a glimer of hope, no matter how small, even if it his almost 99.999999999999 % non- existent, I believe there is a chance to bring to the good side of the force
Anyway, I would love to get together with you guys, may have to put a tvgaurdian on RD, and go to a couple of Roch shows, JRNY, Styx, Foreigner, REO, Boston, Rush, etc.....and see what you think-ERIC

Steve has improved greatly since Arrival, I thought he was great then, but not as smooth or polished as now. He has found his range. I recall him mentioning over-singing in rehearsal for Arrival and developing a node problem, I believe. Hindsight...but since Sony held the US release for a year, they could have waited to do vocals until he had recovered.
