Don't Stop Believing in iTunes top 10

Postby cyclonus5150 » Mon Aug 15, 2005 8:02 am

Have any of you noticed that DSB has been in the top-10 most downloaded songs on iTunes this week? It dropped down to 11 this afternoon but I think that's pretty cool. It looks weird seeing it among all of the latest hit songs. Given that they're selling well over 3 million songs a day there I would imagine that DSB must have gotten quite a few hits. Not bad for a 24 year-old single! Someone at BT was saying that it had something to do with the song being on the OC recently.

Entertainment Weekly said that DSB was riding high because of the Laguna Beach appearance.

And, also in the movie "Monster" - and a Superbowl "Fedex" commercial.

Not to mention the amount of spin it gets on "Classic Rock Format" radio stations. I hear it more than once almost every day here in CT.

Mark & Brian on their morning show mentioned it too. They gave the credit to the use of the song on Family Guy and Laguna Beach.

I'd add the current concert tour, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Greatest Hits CD going to #4 as well. They're all factors.

USA Today mentions it as well last week.

Steve Perry = always trendy: How weird is it that Journey's Don't Stop Believin" is one of the top 10 songs on iTunes? (The song was featured on a recent ep of MTV's Laguna Beach.) Must be a nice anniversary present for those guys. Posted 11:29 a.m.
