Anyone here watch ESPN? Of course you do. It's the number one show on TV.
50 states in 50 days..well, You notice the song they play about 50 times a day on there..Open Road from Bryan Adams. You think he gets a lot a free publicity? The CD is very very good, but he, like Journey, has a problem reaching demographics.
I wonder who thought of the song? Do you think He pitched it to ESPN? Probably not. Was it an ESPN executive who happened to be a fan of BA's? If so, BA is lucky dog. Reminds me of "Like a Rock" for Bob Seger, even though that was a commercial...
We need Journey to do something like this...Now I am not going to blame management for this, for I don't know how this would work..
Any thoughts?
By the way, I just broke out his latest CD, "Room Service." It gets my vote for CD of the year.. I think Journey should do a co-headlining tour with him...

I just saw Bryan Adams with Def Leppard and the Leps blew him out of the venue. For some reason, he was closing the show, and a lot of people left anyway, but his encore was played to about 20 people as he decided to close his set with three unknown ballads.
Anyway, Adams would make a nice opener for Journey, just like 20 years ago....but co-headlining? Naaaaw. Journey is a bump up from him.

I feel the the opposite.
BA was so much better than Def Leppard, it wasn't close...Where did you see them?
I saw opening night(snuck in!) , at San Bernardino minor league stadium..20,000 easy... hopped the fence and flashed a phony badge!!
Anyway, it was co-headlining tour and they alternated closing.. I thought the musicianship was far superior Adams over DL... Anyway, I wasn't trying to start a us vs them thread(unless troll pokes his beak in here), then it's on..

It seems like every other commercial around here is a car commercial that uses Dust in the Wind. I remember a couple years ago Be Good to Yourself was used in a car commercial.

I have been trying to get "Every Generation" involved with a car company. It has huge commercial potential.
I would love Journey to get a new song involved with a TV show, or movie. "Remember Me" would have solved all of Journey's problems if Sony had left it in the movie where it was supposed to be...and then did a video.
So now, a TV show or a new movie, with NEW music, would reach a TON of people. And, again, if handled right it could be HUGE for the band.
I would guess that the BA deal was a fan of his at ESPN.

I saw them at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY.....not even 5,000 people despite the heaviest promotion for a concert I have ever seen.
My main point was I don't see Adams being on par with Journey...but he would be a great opener.

Heavy promotion? That's good to hear. The place I am seeing them next month only holds about 2,000, I think.

He already was in 1983. Then He got bigger than Journey, and then the genre burned out.
He might have as many hits as Journey

In terms of touring, he never sold out stadiums at the rate Journey did, and he doesn't draw like them now either, however, he did have more hits than I thought....although, I haven't heard of some them. The highlight of his set was when he did that tune he did with Tina Turner....

True that Bryan Adams was never selling out multiple nights in venues. And I doubt he ever played football stadiums. But he did sell well in the early to mid 80's. I saw him once, but due to other circumstances I had a lousy time. I never gave him another shot. Although I wanted to when the Storm was opening up for him.

28 I did not want a JRNY v BA thread..
But, it is interesting tho.
Of BA's top hits, he did have a couple #1's and some top 5's.
How did Journey never get a number 1?
Unbelievable.

Cuz during that era Deano my "cyberpal" things like Olivia Newton John's Let's Get Physical were hitting #1.
Don't hear that one anymore but you hear Open Arms and Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner, neither of which could dislodge Sandy from the top spot every day.

I don't think that is valid. During those days, Journey had the number one album in the world for a year..
I am thinking more about critics hating them..

...and most of it is played at such a low volume that you wouldn't even know it's on - unless you are listening for it.
