Andrew's Interviews so far.............

Postby heardonthestreet » Sat Sep 03, 2005 9:17 am

You have to laugh at Cain's after the fact. He mentioned some of the guys having health issues and maybe he jinxed himself.

I enjoyed the honesty in Deen's especially the part about not having earned the WOF star and that he shouldn't be there.

Neal's interviews are always revealing and his wanting to break out of the mold of being "that other guy" explains a lot of his attitude through the years.

I hope that Augeri shows some spirit in his. That sweet, nice guy, humble routine is getting so old, imo.

Thoughts?

When is Steve Augeri's interview coming?

Well, having the advantage of knowing what's in the interview, I'm sure you will find it interesting, but in reality, that is exactly what Steve is like. He is the nice guy.

Glad you are enjoying the interviews though.

I am digging them and the insight they're giving to generations and its recording. Definately priming me for the domestic release here on 10/4. Cain's I found most illuminating so far. Was particularly impressed with how he handled andrew's criticisms of the album.

I can see that you've put a lot of work and effort into these interviews, Andrew and imo, you have really captured the guys personalities. They appeared very comfortable with you and their appreciation of your support was evident in their response to you.

True that. Especially Cain and Schon who've known Andrew for years.

Not to drum this up again, but joe elliot could take a page out their books and get to know Andrew a little better and realize where this site is coming from on the music biz.

Thanks for that :)

Don't think that's going to happen though...Joe is an unhappy now as he ever has been.

Funnily....when I commented on a pre-release version of Arrival, Neal e-mailed to say he agreed with my comments.
Quite a difference than the Leppard experience.

You know, it's a real shame... that whole Joe situation. I can't understand why he and his organization don't see you as a credible journalist. I've been reading your site now for 3 years and counting, and it's so frickin' obvious that you LOVE melodic rock, and it shows so much everywhere on this site when you spend time exploring it. He could learn so much from Steve Augeri... the need for some humility. After all, only ego would prevent you from accepting some criticism. It's not like you slammed the covers album... I read it, and I'm still buying the collection when it comes out!!!

According to Joe - it was "a stinker of a review..."

Not that it was even a review...but anyway. I won't ever be considered a friend of the DL organization unless I rat out my original source.

true, but comments were made on something that was not released yet.

Which happens all the time in this business. Management will release advance copies so that critics can review the material. Someone within DL's organization released a copy to Andrew, he commented, Joe didn't like it...

yes, but in this case it looks like"management" didn't release advance copies. Apparently only Andrew got it, or just happened to be the only critic to make comments on the songs. I would imagine Andrew probably isn't very happy with his DL source either for leaving him out like that. And Joe is not acting very smart, he should be more interested in the leak and creating better music.

Quite true...but for the record, I have done the same with several bands including Journey over the years.

Bear in mind this is after they tried to make Andrew look like a fool with their songlist "prank." I'm thinking that someone in the DL org probably felt that Andrew got the short end of the stick, and they wanted to make it right by providing a copy of the new songs to him. I'm speculating here, but for all we know, it could have been someone in the band itself!

Yes, yes yes. Fernando's right. The fake tracklist came to Andrew after he broke the news of the album content and before his non review of the unfinihsed songs. So vindictive of the band and to Andrews's point this DID happen w/ Arrival. Instead of pulling a Joe Neal took andrew's comments about concer over the # of ballads seriously and they've stayed in touch ever since. He never ripped andrew or stopped giving him info for the site.

Loving the interviews so far, Andrew. :D Thanks for devoting so much of your time to Journey and the guys, and to us fans.

Yes, Steve Augeri is not only a great guy, but an amazing Journey frontman as well. He deserves all the success that comes his way.

As for Joe Elliot, the problem, and the loss, is his. You win some, you lose some, Andrew. Chalk it up to experience and move on (as you have), since I see you with many more winners than losers.

Wow, I didn't know that. I have new respect for Neal if that's true! It's all about the humility, in my opinion.

Maybe Joe should visit New Orleans so he can get his priorities straight.
