So ok..Now I believe it will be released..BUT...why are they leaving off all the other songs?
NIG, wasn't Opened the Door, Winds of March and others on there too?
And The Psarty's Over live, but not video..WTF??
This better not be some over dubbed crap like GH Live was....
And the video. It's the same thing as the videos in the last GH DVD..DSB and Anyway U Want it...
Whatever, I know I'll buy it anyway..

from nick,
hey opened the door and winds of march were played during the captured, departure tours, this looks to be pretty much the whole concert, yes some of the songs were on the gh dvd, but this is a great release and even if the party's over is only on the cd, so what, who ever thought we would get an official live release of this gem, if you are a journey fan you have to get this,

No, OTD and WOM were not on the tape I sent you of this concert. Maybe you are thinking of the Chicago 1978 concert?
It sucks that there is no video, but a live version of The Party's Over will be VERY cool to have.

Deano and Red, one of my favorite parts of this concert is when Perry says "We are making an album movie for M-Television, and yoooooou arrrrrrrre theeeeeeeeeeeeeeere!" This was before anyone even called it MTV.

#1: Yep, I liked that part too. It's liked captured where he tells the Det. audience, "YOU ARE HERE, YOU ARE RECORDING A LIVE ALBUM TONIGHT. YOU!!!!" He was great with a crowd of 10,000. Master.
#2: Is The Party's Over gonna be a part of this dvd/cd? Sweet if so...
#3: How about the Chicago 78 one those interviews. They sounded like frigging KIDS and Perry/Rolie came off pretty cocky (the swagger of a band knowing they were headed for great things).
Neal very laid back and matter of fact even back then.

It says TPO is on the CD, it was not filmed. I think the live version was played over the closing credits on the MTV version, wasn't it? Journey must have played it for an encore and MTV turned the cameras off.

Thanks Artinis 1, now we know for sure straight from the source, and I can hardly wait. I also wish TPO was filmed.
The press release was very well done too. Nothing new really, but factual and upbeat.

Sounds to me like they are using The Party's Over as a bonus, that's all. Like Monker pointed out, you can easily rip the audio off the DVD and make your own CD. So this way, you "have a reason" to buy the package WITH the CD.
Tracks may be missing, bonus' might be sneaky, but I can't wait to get this DVD. I remember seeing the concert ONCE, back in the day. I have NEVER seen it again. And I had the worst luck EVER trying to see Journey live when Perry was in the band. 3 tours, 3 failed attempts! Tragic. Other than seeing the FTLOSM Tour, this is the best I can get.
Finally, I think the press release is written well. I never expected it to refer to Journey continuing, but it is nice that it mentions the "full co-operation" of the band

It will be the pride and joy of your Journey collection, Dave. I GARE-OWN-TEE it.

I've got the VHS and it's as good a copy as you could expect to get, but I feel like I'm going to be seeing it for the first time.

How did you fail 3 times to not see perry live with Journey?
Argh!
By the way NIG, This was a goode tour, but IMO, the Frontiers tour absolutely BLEW away Escape tour.....
IMO, the frontiers tour was their best...

I didn't see that one, other than Frontiers and Beyond tape. I prefer this cooncert. Every band member is in their absolute prime. The songs from ESC4P3 were fresh and new, and you can see it in the performance. This blew me away when I saw it when it was first broadcast. I remember I set our VCR to record it, got up and watched it and played it over and over for a couple of weeks. Then one day I popped it in and saw Young and the Restless.
My mom taped over it. Took me YEARS to get it again when MTV re-broadcast it when ROR came out.

No dude, best part was when Perry said, "All across rock n roll USA, you have made Journey's new new album Escape, numba one in the nation!" That was cool..

Did you notice during ESC4P3 (I think) when Ross almost hits Perry in the head with his bass? I love that part! Steve did a great job avoiding the hit.

Short story:
Escape? Mom said I was too young (11)
Frontiers? Moved before they played where I lived, after they plyed where I moved to.
ROR? Had to plan a roadtrip to the next state. Show sold out in under 10 minutes...never got through on the phone! Added a 2nd show, sold out in under 15 minutes, never got through on the phone.

I only saw Perry with Journey in person once, ROR tour. I remember being disgusted. Compare that crappy lineup and song selection to any other album and you can see why.

Oh, I don't know NIG..I actually loved that tour...I thought the production was top notch...At that time tho, I really didn't care what took place behind the scenes....I thought Perry was basically on solo tour with NS and JC along for the ride..The keytar made it's debut(yuk)..
But Goddamned they sounded good.....They had the GIANT sunglasses as a stage drop, with the reflection of the lightning going across...too cool..I am in the WCTNG video..you can see me in it 3 times...

The Street Talk shit and covers should've been deep 6'd in favor of the better ROR material like Positive Touch and It Could Have Been You. That tour could've been great.

I never got to see him either. Jon got sick and they cancelled the only show I would have had a chance of seeing.
As for the Frontiers vs Escape shows, I've got the F & B and a tape of a Budican(con?) Frontiers show. I love them both. I wouldn't want to have to choose. Steve's performance of Faithfully in the Japanese show is just incredible. He still has his mustache so it must have been before the F & B.

Wanna bet Dave?? I actually *turned down* a ticket in '86...
I do have this on VHS somewhere, and for a 2nd or 3rd generation (at least) tape, it's not too bad. DVD will be nice to have though.

Positive Touch was played..the show I went to was the Girl Cant Help It video....
Yep, the Street Talk shit should have been buried, BUT we now know why it wasn't
They also played "Reach Out" and Jailhouse Rock" both were great..
They could have put in Where were you, Just the same way, a bunch of stuff..
But before I get on Steve's ass for this, Neal did get his "Lies" played on Frontiers tour......

.
If it was the Roanoke, VA show, Perry was the one who had to cancel and they blamed Jon. Don't ask where I heard this, I couldn't say, though the insider is no long affiliated with the band.
