Greggie's Journey Setlist For 2006

Okay, sorry to disappoint the doubters, but Journey will be touring in 2006, because as Deano pointed out in another thread, "that's their job!" I was intrigued by the talk of how Journey's setlist should be in future tours, so I thought about it and came up with what I believe should happen. I do agree with you guys that the earlier stuff should be gradually weeded out to make room for new stuff to be promoted. Also, we'll have to remember that chances are, Journey might go back to sticking with the traditional hour and 40 minutes to a 2 hour concert. With that said, here is my Journey setlist for 2006:

Intro

1. State of Grace or Faith In The Heartland (could rotate each show)
2. Anyway You Want It (gotta get the crowd rockin full swing!)
3. Don't Stop Believing
4. Remember Me
5. Place In Your Heart
6. Higher Place
7. Faithfully
8. Rockblock of pre-Perry stuff (3-4 songs sampled.)
9. Be Good To Yourself
10. Lovin Touchin' Squeezin'
11. All The Way
12. Open Arms
13. Wheel In The Sky
14. It's Never Too Late To Change
15. Better Together
16. Escape
17 Too Late
18. Lights

Encore

19. Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart)
20. Still They Ride
21. Beyond The Clouds *Not sure if this would be a good one to end on, but I would love to see them work this one in

Alternate Songs on tour could be:

I Can Breathe, I'll Be Alright Without You, Girl Can't Help It

Well, I don't know if the setlist is perfect, I try to keep in mind of the flow of the concert.....

If you listen to Never Too Late, you can hear the same solo as Alive Again.. Try it..Pretty eerie.

Greggie, I love the songs, but I think the order is backwards. I hated Anyway You Want It being played early..In 2001, when they closed with WITS, BGTY, AYWI, that was awesome...

IMO, Faith in the Heartland is the PERFECT opener..heck, you have the built in intro...

Here is mine..about 23 songs is right for 2 hours

Faith in the Heartland
Stone In Love
Higher Place
(Welcome to crowd)
Feeling that Way
Anytime
Lights
Send Her My Love
It Ain't always Easy
The Place in Your Heart
I'll Be Alright Without You
A Better Life
Open Arms
Escape
It's Never Too Late
Just the Same Way
Alive Again
Wheel in the Sky
Be Good To Yourself
Seperate Ways
Anyway You Want It

First Encore-----
Don't Stop Believin'
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'

Final encore--
Faithfully

Sadly, my Journey concert experience is lacking, but if I were able to see them in concert, I'd want Don't Stop Believing to be the final encore. I prefer a true crowd grabber...nothing at all against Faithfully. A decent song, but rather mellow for the end of a concert. For me only.

I think all Journey fans thought that too, when they started doing that. They did it for about 3 yours.

IMO< Faithfully grabs the audience way more than DSB. The whoas at the end sound magical.

I'll have to take your word for it. As I said, my concert experience wit hJourney is pitifully lacking.

I don't think the band should open or close with newer material, honestly.
I remember when they opened with SOG in '02, besides me and a few of my goober friends, the whole place was silent.

For an opener u want something that'll make people instantly jump to their feet and for a closer, u want something conventional that'll make everyone walk away smiling, singing to the words.

ROTFL!!!!! Well, that avatar does actually look kind of close to me. I have pretty much the same hair style and color, plus with the facial hair.

I think family guy is an awesome show! You need to keep that avatar! :P

That's a good point! The only thing is, it would be tough to work in songs like Faith in the Heartland or State of Grace, simply for the fact that they seem to be written as songs that go on the beginning of an album or songs that are written to be played first in a concert. I suppose the band could cut off the opening parts of either song in order to lead straight into those songs (kind of how Journey does with Lights/Stay Awhile.)

Yeah, that is a problem. I've heard them play "Faith in the Heartland" and "State of Grace" mid-way into the set. They get around it, but they DO sound better with their build-up intros intact.
