Sooner the better, though I'm expecting maybe 2d qtr, '06 at best.
All the more reason we need a bootleg of this tour to circulate around here in the meantime. Abita? Anybody?

All I have heard is the unofficial word that it won't be until early next year. I agree that it will probably be the end of the 1st quarter/beginning of the 2nd.

So you've been saying. For too long now.
I haven't seen or heard note 1 of it(them).

Why do you say that TNC?

Call me a pessimist, Dave, but this just feels like another pipe dream of Neal's. We had the much touted Warfield dvd which went nowhere (granted Neal later explained what happened with that on the radio), we had Neal's ultra-secretive ambiguous Journey project that was not only never released, but never even revealed what the fuck it was. Anyone remember that? Neal kept saying he had this revolutionary Journey idea..and it never developed. I still don't know what the hell he was talking about. I guess he thought of having a DVD + CD in 1, however, that isn't particularly groundbreaking. We also had Augeri hinting at a new CD ready for Christmas during the UTR tour. None of these things happened. None of them.
As you have said yourself, the band doesn't have a plan. "Generations" came about on a whim, remember? So if history shows that everything they have done so far has been on the fly, why would I now began to believe that they really have a strategic plan for this latest project?

Hey, whatever, 13. I offered you, NIG, and TNC a chance to get one. Not one of you replied back....

Well this time, unlike Warf, they actually did the dvd taping. Professionally, as with Vegas 5 years back. Given that Warf wasn't professionally taped your pipedream warning light had to be blinking rapidly.
This was a multi camera professional shoot, they announced it on the site. just like the 2001 dvd. And that came off (surprisingly to me, yes) as promised so i have no reason to feel otherwise this time either.

As I recall, I offered to chip in and you never let me know what happened.

Bullshit. I said I was
VERY interested, and then a week later you and NIG declared a jihad on my ass. Just how the fuck am I supposed to discuss the terms of a dvd purchase with you, when you were always shoving a boot down my gullet?

fun times, they were.
That was one of the biggest dustups in memory. Just a 3-way free for all.
I still want it, dean. You have Paso Robles, right? Or other Generations shows? I just can't believe what the dude was charging.

We shall see. Just seems these things never come to fruition.
Out of all the shows, I wonder why they decided to tape this one.
Was it Nocturne's decision, or was it someone elses?
Didn't they say a series of concerts were being filmed at that particular venues for television broadcast later on?

Yep, there've been inermittant mentions of public tv plans.
Dallas is an odd loc. selection. I'd like to see them release a show from a bay area venue since they're from there. But they did the taping nevertheless, and I want this thing post haste. give it to us, asap.

Did they perform Gone Crazy? Maybe they should lop that. Pretty embarassing when I saw it live. Like it on the album, doesn't work LIVE though. (Or maybe Ross was just having an off-night)

This must be MY week to be in the doghouse. It's ok, things run in cycles here at MR. You should all really see my saved collection of OA rants(PM's)...I should write a book.

Just checked it out. It's good. No "Gone Crazy" (they opted for "Walks Like a Lady" instead). Wish Deen was feeling better and had sang more. He only sings one tune. Wish they showed him off more. With Steve and Deen behind the mic, the band is a melodious powerhouse
not to be reckoned with.

No GC. We have a fairly healthy dose of Generations: FITH, TPIYH, EG, OOHW, ISD.
Ross' # is Walks Like A Lady which I feel an unfortunate choice given 2 things: he now has his own JRNY # to front, and the fact that Augie rules the bluesy stuff they trot out like no other. Minor quibble, though.

I hear ya TNC, lots of "ideas" that never happen.
I think the "secret project" was the concept CD that never happend.
Warfield was filmed, but I think it was like the other shows...a simple documentation. Not a planned DVD.
Journey (actually Neal) has a history of spouting ideas but never seeing them through.
But this DVD definately seemed PLANNED. There seemed to be a lot of EFFORT for this one. And the public (well, die-hard fan public) clamoring for a DVD must show enough love. But we shall see.
I have heard nothing more about a TV special. If it does not happen by the early part of December, I see NO reason or benefit to it. Once they are off the road for any length of time, it just will not matter. They coould use the early part of December for a Christmas push of "Generations". Otherwise, the ONLY benefit would be airing it shortly before the DVD goes on sale...but who needs the DVD AFTER the show? Unless there is a LOT of footage not aired on the TV special...
As for Deen, his health may be one reason we never see the DVD. I think it would have bene a much stronger product with him doing several tunes.
And I love Gone Crazy. I definately think Ross should be doing that one instead of Walks Like A Lady. It is just too weird hearing him sing a Perry tune...

I don't think so. Jon and Neal (in their joint interview with Jrnyval) mentioned the prospect of doing a concept record. Many bands have tried their hand at that. Neal's ultra-secret Journey project was touted as something NEVER attempted by a band before.

I love it too, but thought it stunk up the joint LIVE. The whole place nearly cleared out.

Treat.
I think I read they were planning it as a double disc dvd w/ bonus/extras as well. Factor in some time for corrective overdubs for a voc here, a drum riff there, a guitar lick here and it should be ready by Spring.

Which part don't you remember? The JrnyVal interview w/ Neal and Jon? Or Neal touting the virtures of his amazing wonder-product that never saw the light of day (that will require some digging- but I will look).

I haven't read that from anyone involved with the band, just what the fans would like to see. But I agree that it CAN be ready by spring and that it should be a 2-disc DVD and preferably a CD as well...

Works for me. I just hope it's not another "no frills" deal like we got with 2001.
I want abundant backstage, behind-the-scenes footage.
Some post-concert partying footage would be banging, also.
Maybe throw in a hidden easter egg where u see the guys taking turns snorting coke off a tijuanan strippers ass crack.

Exactly. It sounds like the Houston DVD will have decent packaging. Journey better learn from that and expand. I don't need a lot of extras, but a good menu with a couple of extras...maybe interviews about "Generations" (more than what we saw on the EPK), or film of the recording sessions. Maybe a bonus video or two. Something mor ethan just a photo gallery like on 2001...
