Watching the CMA awards show.

A band called "Big and Rich" the lead singer wore tails.

A woman named Sarah Evans markedly raised her arm and pointed on the long, high notes. :shock:

Listening to Bon Jovi on the show right now singing with the lead singer from Sugarland. She's outsinging Jon.

I admit the tails could be a bad idea begun by Perry and taken up by B&R, but you can't credit him for giving the idea to point up to every singer who's ever done it (I know you're kidding on this one).

Regarding JBJ, that's not saying much, as we've stated before.
I place Bon Jovi's appearance on this show almost up there with Aerosmith's sellout appearance with Brittany and crew at the Super Bowl.
They're looking to tap into the country market now?

LOL..

I FUCKING hate Aerosmith for their sellout, and actually screamed down Steven Tyler in Hollywood once saying so...Then the big puss had a gigantic black offensive lineman come over and try to quiet me...I told him to blow me..then I was forced to leave. This is a guy who said Journey "sucked ass, and sold out at every corner." Calling the kettle black there eh, Steven..last time I saw a mouth as big as his, it had a hook in it.

As for JBJ, aside from the fact he comes on the Stern show, he is a major sellout too. Fuck him.

I can't say that I agree that the tails are a bad idea, I luv'em, but only on Perry. Actually the first group that I ever saw who wore them were Paul Revere and the Raiders, but I doubt that many on here will remember them. The pointing up just happened to be right after the tails thing so I was in a Perry frame of mind. :lol:

Curiosity to begin with, but I ended up hearing more rock on there than I've seen on the other music award shows for years now. :lol:

No rap, hip hop, or bubble gummy crap. There aren't many, if any, currently popular rock or pop artists that sound as good as Sugarland or Keith Urban. I was impressed.

Isn't this the same song that they were to have released with Keith Urban?
JBJ's ego probably shot that down, all the girls would have been cooing over Keith instead of him.

Lots of rock guitar and drum sound last night, and not a whole lot of twang from Sugarland and Urban. I don't like twang at all, and I don't like a lot of banjo(even though my husband plays one) unless it's used as a background sound instead of a focal point.

I think you're probably right about a lot of those guys going the country direction because there doesn't seem to be much room for rock anywhere else. Better to go country rock than hip hop or Britney type BS.

Yes, I was thinking of Rascal Flatts in particular.
Keith Urban seems to have a following among the European MR.com readers. I've noticed several comments on the Noticeboard about his shows being more rocking on his UK/Europe dates.

Rascal Flats is really good, whatever the catagory. You know, 20 - 25 yrs ago a lot of these acts probably would have either started out in the rock genre or crossed over easily.

I agree, a bit side tracked from the melodic rock/Journey world.
The town I live in is, unfortunately, the birthplace of country music, I have however never been a country fan.

Being a guitarist, I do keep up with some country music. I do like Eric Heatherly. He rocks.

Urban plays most if not all of the guitar on all of his CD's. Listen to him first and then tell me I am high. Not the style........the technique and the feel.

If you can track down The Ranch CD he made, lots of awesome guitar work there.

And no I'm not high......sober for 21 years and counting.

No no no. I agree keith is awesome, period. I just think if you put him up against guys like Schon, Shaw, KWS and even Sambora, he falls short. BUT, Keith Urban is one of the few in country who can flatout bring it. Vince Gill can play the axe as well.

Actually I like some country singers and songs..i don't know their names except for shania twain and faith hill and her husband...i like their style and music i just like music if it's good but if it's bad than it's just awful and singes my ears
