No. I want a 70s or Captured show on DVD. Gregg Rolie needs a concert... ROR sucks anyway...

Do you mean what is the NEXT DVD we would like to see released? I would like ANY concert on DVD, but if you mean next, I would vote no. I would rather see Departure era Journey.

Sweet! Thanks for the insider info, bossman.
Now I only hope they do a quality job on it (get Shirley or Elson on it).
If anyone remembers, a few years back www.journeymusic.com partook in their first dvd venture. They began selling "Frontiers and Beyond" on dvd.
Sadly, it was done so shoddily. No menu screens. No chapter options. You just put the dvd in and it started to play the concert.
That's beat.
Let's hope they spend some money this time around.

I get the impression thatthe new DVD will be "the real deal" like the Houston one. Jon has mentioned "working on it" and they are giving themselves some time to do it. So hopefully they will do it right. Plus, I think if they see how the Escape DVD turned out, they will want to continue like that.

Think Sony would take them on for another dvd?
The 2001 dvd did rather well for them.

I'm just a little leary of the guys trying their hand at a quality dvd product without some serious corporate backing.
Can it be done?

I don't want this thing to look and sound like it was done in Jon's basement (as was the case with Red 13).

Hot damn. So Journey actually has a timetable set for this?
Maybe they are serious afterall.

Consider my feelings on this project officially switched from "wishful thinking pipedream" to "hey it could happen".

I wonder who will be in charge.
Perry is doing the old stuff, I guess Neal and Jon will be doing the new.

OK; I see where you're coming from.....and for the record, I had no idea that Journey had anything from the recent times in the "pipeline", as they say...

I think Neal will be too busy with Soul SirkUS.
I think this will be Jon's project. (Besides, wasn't he the one to 'officially' nix the Warfield DVD?) Maybe Jon feels the need for 'perfection' that Neal was willing to overlook for that one?

Would love to see ROR released on DVD. I will buy the Dallas '05 dvd when it comes out, as long as it has mostly different songs from the 2001. I can't imagine buying another Augeri era DVD with the same or similar set list. I realize some of the same songs will be on there, but it would be nice to see them put stuff like "When You Love A Woman" on it and more Arrival, Red 13, and Generations stuff.

Hey, I'm partial to WYLAW....I have never gotten to see it performed live.

I would love a Captured era DVD, I have an old bootleg of a the Fargo, MD concert, but the picture is blurry, sound is great. It blows the Escape concert away. I would love to see something like that cleaned up on DVD. Of course I will buy the new one, that sounds pretty damn cool. As far as ROR, never liked it, saw the concert...worst Journey appearance ever, the church choir sound that Perry turned LTS into was the worst yet. They can put out an ROR DVD but I'll guaran'god damn'tee I won't be wasting my precious dollars on that piece of shit.

I agree that I want a different set list, but you gotta remember that Steve sounds SO MUCH better now than he did with Arrival (yes, TNC, even WITH the editing) that it should sound different still!

I for one would not be as excited to see a ROR DVD as I would one of the Captured era concerts. I wonder if they actually had video cameras on that tour though? I wouldn't imagine anything like that would ever see the light of day, as unless it was filmed for a TV special or something where would they get the footage? I love many of the tracks on ROR, but what I've heard of the concert, I'd just as soon take a pass on it. I could care less seeing Journey play Jailhouse Rock or Reach Out, or even double time versions of Foolish Heart. Let's get a Rolie-era video out there!

Jrnyman28:

Augeri probably does sound better now since he's had time to gel with the band, but I enjoyed the first DVD enough to not need a duplicate play list. Or at least have alot of the new stuff in addition to the old stuff. All I'm asking for is to hear different Journey tunes live that I haven't heard live before.

No need to quarrel on this. I openly admit I was wrong and you were right. He is indeed sounding better than on the dvd.

In addition to songs already covered on the 2001 dvd, there will be the Pre-Perry stuff and 4 Generations tunes. Is that enough to warrant parting with your hard earned cash? You'll have to answer that yourself. While some more rareities (Arrival stuff, Red 13 etc) would be nice, I'm still buying it.

Plus WYLAW and Still They Ride, at least I believe these were done that night. Any others besides these?
Hoping the whole show is included.

Neal was quoted saying that Dean was gonna cover every song he had done so far with the group. Sadly, he must've been feeling under the weather the particular day the show was filmed. Would've been great to have his renditions of "Keep on Runnin", "Mother, Father", "Suzanne" etc etc.

Yes but Deen sang only one song about half the tour, I wonder if he had some ongoing throat problem, though he never seemed to hold back on bg vocals at any of the shows I saw.

When I saw him in AC he was good, but last year he was waaaaaaay better. He was actually ducking some high notes this time around. Dave heard Deen sing for the first time ever this tour and came back underwhelmed. That shocked me. I couldn't believe it. Then after hearing him myself I understood. He was slightly off this tour. Wonder why.

Curious. I thought he was great every time I heard him except fairly early on in the tour on Patiently, didn't think he was as good as usual.
And I thought he was a little more raspy this year, which worked fine on STR and would have been very Perry-esque on any later stuff.

Had to vote no on this one. I am next awaiting the current project from the real life Journey, the Generations tour dvd.

Aside from that, I suppose ROR would be the next period-era dvd I'd look for, but it would be far preferable to me absent the damn motown covers and Street Talk material. With those dropped you'd have a min. of 4 more slots Journey material. I'll take Positive Touch, It Could Have Been You, and 2 more. But then I'd need Frontiers and Departure, clear back . Do one from each tour.

Maybe Perry will do that. Maybe he will only use the Journey material, it wouldn't surprise me that he will "need" to leave a couple of songs out.

I was cleaning out my basement today and found a ROR documentary on VHS. I watched some of it. It starts with a live rendition of Girl Can't Help It, then goes into interviews and plays studio versions of songs while they are talking. I think there is more concert footage later on the tape. Anyone else have this?
