OT, but related: Coldplay's "Fix You"

Postby sngrchk04 » Tue Nov 22, 2005 12:14 pm

"When you try your best, but you don't succeed....
When you get what you want, but not what you need....
When you're just so tired, but you just can't sleep...
Stuck in reverse..."

....playing right now in my house in the background, as I'm typing....WOW....

This song STOPPED ME in my tracks, gave me massive chills, and I couldn't breathe....the opening "church-organ" phrasing....the words...the voice...

Nothing has made things stop like that for me in a LONG time...

Segway:

what Journey song did that for YOU?

"Still They Ride"

Just reminds me of how we as teens would be "the" popular people throughout the town. Everybody seemed to know everything about everybody else. Reminds me of hanging out with my friends and just being a part of something. Then, we get older and our lives branch off into many different directions. Suddenly, we're not so popular in the town anymore. We're just the same as everybody else.

"This old town,
ain't the same"
"Now nobody knows his name."
"Times have changed, still he rides."

I like alot of Journey songs, and some are even capable of arousing something emotional within me. But nothing to the magnitude of which you describe.
"Chills".
"Loss of breath".
"Speach paralysis"
The last thing that had that effect on me was sub-saharan monkey pox, not a flippin Journey record.

But TNC, Nora is a singer and songwriter. She hears lyrics and music in a different way than most of us do.
