OT - Rankings on MR

Andrew, since you probably visit this forum than most others on here (LOL), I was hoping, if possible, to change the top ranking from "Manager of Van Halen" to anything else???

Is is possible when someone reaches that level, at 2500, that they can pick who they want to be "manager of"? Just a thought.

Deano and jrnyman28 are approaching pretty close, I'm sure Dean will be approaching 2500 this week.

PLEASE!!!

I thought I told you Laurie, if I ever get to 2500, and I have to "accept" VH, I am not doing it..I will change my name in honour of Journey. NO WAY I am taking a job with an inferior band, NO WAY.

For me, give me Journey or give me death, or a new username..

My guess is Kenny, a longtime VH fan, reached the milestone first and probably requested VH Mgr.
Andrew probably has a uniform Title for levels attained..

Maybe I should make a poll on every forum and see how people would vote. I bet any money Van Halen wouldn't be up on top.

Changes are coming...I just need the time to think and execute.

Once I get this reviews update done...I'll be on it.

Yeah, but who the fuck wants to be conferred with the despisable name "Manager of Journey".
-Azoff is a bum.
Why don't you just give me the name king douche waffle while you're at it.

There is nothing wrong with Azoff. He is doing the very best he can with what he has to work with. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Your wish is granted, if it were up to me!

I don't know about that, HOTS. Here's a picture of Azoff taken just last week...

I SO Disagree! Azoff and John Barruck do nothing for Journey. John seems to manage retroactively. No thinking ahead. I think he is a figure-head who is simply letting Journey do whatever.

You would say that wouldn't you?
Afterall, Azoff is doing the bidding of PerryPodPersons world 'round (be it intentional or not)...by repressing this phenomenal group of artists from ascending to the heights of which they are truly capable.
Piss off, miserable wretch.

That is so funny, Nig. I was playing one of Journey's early albums and the kid is keeping time to the music.

The only thing that is holding Journey back is the fact that THEY are doing whatever. The girls just want to have fun. That's their excuse for a lack of focus, descipline and direction.

It's always someone else's fault. If the very best can't do anything for Journey, then just let them have fun and keep running their greatest hits by the people.

No, it's also largely Journey's fault. No direction. I was hoping during the interim of SoulSirkus that Jon and Steve would really find their writing niche together. Alas, it seems it was not meant to be.

The very best was Herbie H. Herbert and ur portoguese false prophet had his ass unceremonially fired.

I have to disagree here folks.

If Irving and John were doing nothing, Journey would be playing clubs such as Soul Sirkus did.

Journey just played yet another year of packed stadium shows. That requires a lot of work.

Some of you may not like the situation of the band and wish for more, but the truth is - how much of what you wish for is possible in 2005?
There are no other melodic rock acts doing what you all wish for with their new material and most of them aren't even recording/touring!

I too would like bigger and better things and a new #1 single and album - but it ain't going to happen! Not to Journey and not to ANY other melodic rock/classic rock act out there.

The BS behind radio play and charts and major record labels in general is too much of a barrier for any band of this ilk. Sad....but true.

Just a few quick thoughts for ya :)

No Boss..I disagree with you..Packed stadiums..not really..Packed outdoor ampitheatres, yes. And it isn't hard to do with the quality, professionalism, grace and history they bring to the table. People know if they go, they will be entertained beyond belief.

Sorry Andrew, I know you like Irving, but that crusty cock can't couldn't manage to save his droopy balls and wrinkled old ass.

Tell me Andrew, you think Journey would be sitting on their asses if Herbie was driving the train? Hell No!

I don't think anyone has the power in this day and age to change the course of the Journey train. Or any number of other bands in a similar situation. Times have changed and I think the guys are doing great considering the climate for rock n roll in the USA.

I admit I really know little about Journey or its mgmt
but I do have some thoughts on the subject....

So please don't throw stones... :D

Irving Azoff has a barnload of bands & a wagon of productions
He has to delegate
Hee Haw
It;s not a one man show
Baruck & Consolo are probably doing most of the hands on work
while consulting with IA.

IA has the contacts, knowledge & experience
but he can't do everything himself and in the end it comes down to profit
potential where he spends most of his time.
If they wanted 1 on 1 management maybe they shouldn't have picked a big mgmt like Azoff. They didn't really think IA was joing to be pounding the pavement going door to door did they?

Herbie had Journey, Santana...and ????
but it was more one on one personal approach and he had alot of himself invested in it so its hard to compare.

It doesn;t seem as if they are sitting on there "asses" as
Neal is already cognizant that SA can't hold the Perry Highs regime (or as Neal put it binder clip on his private parts) for hours night after night
Seems like they are playing as much as they can handle.
I think they too like to have a day off now and then to be with there families.

Irving can only do so much for them
They are established and already peaked
I think its a mistake to hand the mike around the band
I've listened to Deen sing and he;s good
Its not whether they are good or not that matters
These actions tend to make the band appear less centered and focused

A band without a strong charasmatic lead singer can't take a large portion of the market
They are diversifying and having fun doing what works
but when you have to be careful when you go too far from what got you there you risk losing more
There working & making music so just keep on doing what there doing
and make the best of it

It is very difficult to find a new market for Journey
Seems if its just those of us that have grown up with them
and there children if they had any.

There's a girl in the office
Guess she is about 25 or 28
She into music and I asked her once if she liked Journey
She didn;t even know who they were
Partly because Journey went underground for a decade.
They lost a whole generation

So I say they should be grateful they have a top notch managment team and are able to do what they love to do
If Journey was a cow
I'd say lets just be glad they are still giving good milk
No sense hooking them to a plow and dragging them til to they drop

So they play amphtheatres
Sure its harder to get the acoustics right
but there sure is something nice about listening to the sounds of Journey
feeling a warm summer breeze blowing through your hair
under a starstudded canopy on a moonlit night

Neal isn't the one who mentioned the binder clip on Augees nuts to attain higher notes, is he?
