Guess what I received in the mailbox?

Good ol Sly Stallone has sent me a letter. Hand written scribbled one. I don't know if he himself wrote it, but he signed it!

He LOVES Generations, wants to know who i am, and has picked up a copy or two at the store.

Not much else to say, except that he welcomes a follow up!

Hell yes!

See, once in awhile, a longshot pays off!

For those of you who cannot tell, I am high..very very high. ask Sadie or 13..

PM 13 NIG..I am kind of at a stand still..Don't want to tread into Mgt and step on toes, even though that's what needs to be done.

If I go to rock camp, which I shouldn't do(can't explain), I am going low key at first..then as Neal opens up, I am volunteering to kick Irvings butthole inside and out.

There's no decision here. Full blaze ahead. Write him back with the training montage pitch for TPIYH. No bad can arrive of it.....Worst it gets shot down.
As far as toe-crunching, remember these were the dudes who were pissed RM did not get into Armageddon.

I didn't have to write him back. I just ran out to the mailbox hoping to get my Generations boot from Abotaman,, but I guess 5 days is too quick to move a letter from TN to LA. Being that most 1st class mail is moving on the rear of Amtrak trains, it's no wonder it has slowed down(a shot at my own employer).

Got another letter from Stallone's people(can't divulge name), saying They love the CD, there are 4 songs they are considering using.

The idea of TPIYH is alive, however, FITH is strongly being considered for the "opening training/running theme." They like "he goes to work in the morning sunlight" theme..

Dude, IF this gets played in the movie, we better something for our collective brainstorming.

The band better let us jam with them on stage..

Man that's Tits...Rocky huh? Where in the world did this brainstorming come up? Strange...I have had some conversation with Vince DiCola (of Rocky IV and Transformer's scoring fame), and I heard that Sylvester is a fan of good talent and music - I can totally see a montage with Journey playing in the background - and if anyone has seen the Family Guy with Brian (the dog) training to "hearts on fire", tell me you weren't laughing your asses off!!!

13 and I were kicking around this idea about 2 months ago. I burned a copy of Generations and drove out to Sly's ranch. He lives in Hidden Valley, a plush area in Ventura County.. A lot of celebs live out here..Gretzky, Jack Nicholson, Sly, and Tiger too.

Anyway, I threw a copy of his driveway, and alas, I got an email, then today an actual letter.

No guarantees but hey, we did put out the effort.

Family Guy- bryan trained? Dude always has a martini in his hand. Hearts on Fire? The Bryan Adams song or the Rocky theme song?

Anyone see the Journey episode? Actually there are two of them.. One was the Drunken Clam was dead, and was going out of business, and they put in a karaoke machine. Of course the obligatory Japanese guys were in there singing Michael Mcdonald or some lame shit..Then peter threw on DSB..The entire town heard it. A funeral procession, while carrying a casket flatout dropped the casket. "Is that Journey?" Hell yes it's Journey!" DROP! The bar was filled and lighters wavering all over..classic. I copied it..

Faith In The Heartland would also work good, as I guess would Never Too Late and In Self Defense. Jesus, I'm keeping fingers crossed, our guys deserve this...
When Sly's calling all shots, as with this film, he usually populates it with good melodic rock. And change in vocals did not bother him with Survivor. Per the Gr Hts liner notes of Survivor after the crossover success of EOTT in III he called Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik for IV and they said, "we have a new singer, though." Sly said, "I don't care, let's do it again" and they came up with Bruning Heart. It was as big a hit as EOTT.
And Deano, about your last sentance about getting something if Generations gets tapped.....I don't want much.....
Other than a new studio record every year for at least the next 5 years along with a double live album or live boxset of this lineup. Hell, that too much to ask? 8)

Deano, have you been in contact with Journey "management" about this? Just wondering if you have made them aware (not looking for help or anything) of the possibility...

Hell with that. #1 why would they not want their song(s) considered? #2: All you're doing is saying to someone, "hey listen to these guys, I think you might like it, might be able to use them." You're not posing as management or going to the band with your hand out....It's not far different from you refering a good friend's goods/service on a business transaction basis to another friend or aquaintance. In this case we think Sly the customer, may be able to use the service/goods that Journey provides so it's like a referrall. Really nothing more.

PS, if business/legalities are a concern, I wonder if Andrew who has contact with Journey's manaagement can clarify what happened/happens. Andrew, could you alert management to the situation of the songs being reviewed for possible inclusion? That's assuming Sly's peeps haven't already done so or will do so soon?

That could really work. The movie gets released next year, the single is released "from the movie" all to coincide with a new Journey Tour starting in Europe!

Management will probably screw it up, probably push an old worn out lazy-assed half-country Eagles song instead of Journey. Out with Irving, in with Deano...

Cmon Deano, you can't let it go. YOU made a contact, YOU have the info. I know you got a lot going on, but I definately think you should follow up with this. But, I am off this week, why don't you send me ALL the info you got (Names, emails, phone numbers, etc) and maybe I can do something to help out!

If Deano's burnt out on it that's ok at this point. What he's done now is put it in Sly's court to get in touch with MGMT. He got the thing rolling. Andrew should be the one to facilitate from here on out anyway as he's got the contacts and cred.
